It doesn't really stop time for any meaningful purpose though.
True, but as a side-effects to a fight, it's pretty ridiculous. Whatever could STOP TIME just seems logically more powerful than a robot. Not that we need to embrace logic here.

It's not something that actually bothers me though, just a passing thought.

They're not really stopping time though. They're simply creating an alternate dimension where time does not flow for those within in. However long they spend inside that space, it does not consume any real time (nor does it have any real physical effects, since nothing is "real" aside from the robots). Zero Time has no actual bearing on the physical world.

What the hell is the name of the song that the North Maiden sings? Is there a clean version of that song out for sale yet?

Episode 2 was really good i thought, i actually think i like it slightly better then the first episode. The roundtable villian discussion was awesomely entertaining for one, all the comedic moments in this episode reminded me of ouran highschool host club, and were actually genuinely fun to watch. And of course the fight scene kicked ass. I'm looking forward to the next episode.:D

A lot like watching Utena: Awesome music, similar scenario, no explanations, lack of meaningful content, etc.

I can tell you didn't get very far in that video. (Unlike 7Th, who evidently watched the whole thing.)

Because it gets much worse than orgasmic vagina arrows.

To be honest, the cowgirls are far from being the worst/best thing in MoO.

Episode 2 was great. I felt like the setup and characters were fleshed out a lot more in this episode, and there's so much fabulous stuff going on. The music is really awesome, too.

The singing would be a lot better without the weird digital filters they're running it through.

I think that's just Haruka Tomatsu's voice; the Kannagi ED sounded pretty much the same.

So her voice is so out of tune that they have to apply autotune to everything she sings? Is that what you're saying? :)

You know, I think the entrances that Tawburn makes are really awesome bits of animation. Not only does it look really good, but it really presents a really stunning visual representation of how Zero Time has no physical "rules" whatsoever. Watching the mech appear from the ground in the first episode, and watching it "break" into the space in the second episode. It's just... wow. Really visually awesome.

Hopefully they keep having original animation for each episode's appearance. :)

Question for duckroll-chyan, contains slight spoilers for people that haven't read that World of Star Driver booklet thing.

Rewatching the second episode with my sister I noticed that Professor Green has one of those Star Driver insignia things. Wasn't the Science Guild supposed to not get involved with the "mecha piloting process"?

It's fantastic totally made up for the so-so-ness of the second episode.

She's the pilot for Yodhok, and the design for that Cybody was in this month's Newtype so we'll see what's going on by ep6-7 I suspect. She'll also be the first "leader" to fight against Takuto if that's the case. Should be interesting to see where that goes.

Star Driver Ep2 ratings... 1.7%... :(

Finally got around to watching episode 2. Still fun, but I hope the structure of every episode isn't just school shenanigans -> villain of the week. I'll still watch it if it is since the battles so far have been great, but I'll be disappointed if there isn't more to it than that.

Episode 3 is pretty fucking hype.

This show really needs to start picking up. All three episodes have been nearly the same.

It's the classic formula. Lull the audience into a false sense of security, and then start slamming them with some crazy depressing multi episode arc. AND THEN THE CRAZY BEGINS.

It depends. If this structure is handled in the right way, like Utena, it serves as a ritual.

If it's handled badly it's jut repetition.

Either way, I suppose it doesn't really bother me.

I thought this episode was as good as the last two. Actually, I enjoyed the fight more than in the second episode, it seemed to have more energy.

My main concern would be that the show spreads itself to thin and doesn't develop it's characters.

Bones really doesn't give a shit for the character animation in this show, but you can't fault them for it when they deliver so much with the action sequences.

The problem with comparing this show with Utena is that the level of crazy melodrama and character depth isn't nearly the same. The characters are way less fucked up and so far there are no hints of hardcore bullying, bitchy bitches with incestuous obsessions or unrequited lesbian romances.

Is it still romance if it is unrequited?

Infatuations are usually one-sided as well, and so the unrequited part is implied...

The definition of "infatuation" doesn't really contain the concept of "one-sided", though. Rather, the redundancy would be in "unhealthy", which is already covered by the "unreasonable" and "obsessive" parts of the definition.

I was actually going to address that as well, thanks for ruining my fun :P

Also, I am addressing infatuations as it applies to interpersonal relationships, not the entire concept. Most of the time (not always) infatuations are usually from one, not both parties.

Besides, 'unrequited infatuations' just sounds silly.

It's pretty "interesting" how Star Driver seems to have the most recycled footage out of any of BONES' shows ever. Maybe they're preparing themselves to animate a Gundam series soon? So far every episode has like 2 minutes worth of recycled footage, sometimes with small modifications, sometimes completely identical. That's pretty significant when you consider that there's only about 21 minutes worth of animation outside of the OP/ED.

Scenes which have been recycled:

- The gears moving underground and the walk through the passage to the meeting hall
- Sakana-chan starts to sing
- Character goes into the coffin to apprivoise a Cybody
- The start and end of Zero Time
- Takuto's apprivoise animation
- Tauburn breaking through into Zero Time
- Ginga Bishounen transformation
- Tauburn posing after winning

That's pretty significant considering only 3 episodes have aired so far. Usually BONES isn't this cheap...

So nearly 80% of each episode will be composed of reused footage by episode 20?

I think that's actually pretty possible. If you think about it, this is probably why each episode is about a different character, and features a different new ability so far. Clearly once they have gotten that out of the way, the rest of the episodes can simply be stories and fights assembled using nothing but recycled footage from previous episodes. :lol

Blu-Ray exclusive episode is 100% reused!

I just we just need one more Kiraboshi meeting with a few more new character angles and animations of the bosses moving their legs, and even I could edit together a brand new scene using 100% recycled footage and new dialogue. :lol

Just wait until they use the same animation for a sequence but recolor the hair so as to indicate that different characters are involved in the action. Then, and only then, can we truly conclude that Star Driver is an Utena clone with a dude MC.

They've already done that twice now. The entire machine coffin scene in every episode has the EXACT same animation pattern inside it. The effects, body structure, movements, etc are identical. The only changes they make in every episode is in the detail of the clothing and very minor changes to the face, and replacing the hair, so they look like the character who's supposed to be inside.

There's no way I would go into an empty pool with an alligator in it.

The Vice President is already annoying.

Why would you marry a trophy wife and then not have her live with you?

Who were the two characters with Takuto in the picture?
