I would like that explanation. More so since she does look far more "normal" in SO3 than the others.
For an even better reference, check out her collar thingy around her neck. Can you see the difference? Im sure you can.

The loli is your answer, they took a facial design made for a little girl and instead of tweaking eye shape and jaw for a more mature character, they just stretched it.

The impression I got is that the team designed her and Akiman's art is just an interpretation of their design.
I'm unsure what you were expecting since this series has always been anime as fuck

While the nose designs are little off, this looks beautiful in motion and hopefully the cut scenes can carry a coherent story.

yeah its still may fav SO game... I just 100% last year on psp. First time ever even though it was my 3rd time through the game because of saves getting deleted.. SO4 was pretty bad though those characters ruined the game for me and I never finished it... really hoping for a game more like SO2
In Star Ocean 4 I could choose not to use Myuria though, so I could avoid her sleazy design. I'm forced to use the green haired Witch though. Hopefully we get an alternate costume.

There's a level of tolerability people have or a line. The design of KOS-MOS wasn't ideal (although mainly in the first game) but it never crossed that line. Myuria and to an even greater extent the witch here push that tolerance level. Maybe when actually playing the game I could get over it and adjust accordingly but for now all I have is screenshots and video clips that look ridiculous.

Well that's further off than I thought. A thread could be created now with the trailers released thus far, and then be updated as the rest come in. But then I expect most people who enter these threads will only see the initial character trailers since usually people don't revisit threads later on.
But by all means someone can create a thread if they want.

The more I see SO5's characters, the more I realize I hate Star Ocean character designs. I'm starting to feel that my love for SO2 was really just a coincidence of being just the right age at the time, rather than any inherent quality in the series.
I refuse to believe anyone who cares about you or anyone whose opinion you respect really gives two shits about some random character in a JRPG you play. This insecurity is all on you brah.
I've not really played the Star Ocean series but these seems well in line with the series aesthetics. These are probably the best set of character designs the series has ever had to be honest (barfs at SO3 character designs).

"Sexy" characters existed, too, but they weren't as overtly tasteless as witch girl or Myuria.
Still ridiculous, but this was the "witch" of SO2.
SO has always been anime, and anime has changed over time, but there was a certain grounded feel to the designs in the first two SO games. The influence from western sci-fi series like Star Trek was much more apparent, I think, especially in SO1.
Personally, I feel as if most of SO5's designs return to this, at least to an extent. Victor, Fidel, Welch, blue haired guy and fighter girl all look really good and are more in line with SO1/SO2 style than SO3/SO4.
This is literally a PS3 game ported up to PS4. This is what they said the very first time the game was revealed. Its not news.

Huh, seeing the videos one thing I would have liked is for the hair to actually move. Clothes ruffling in what seems like at least a medium-strong breeze and the hair is like "fuck you I do what I want."
Game does look hella good in most other places, though.
An outfit that has a cloth pulling up the center of the skirt so you can see her gap and a heart on her boob. Titty witch is more drastic but there's no categorical difference here.
