Star Wars Battlefront - New Screenshot (Hoth)

In addition, the devs are using photogrammetry to get realistic and light weighted models of the environment, so it's actually very possible that this is what the final game will look like. Or at least the bullshots won't be too far off the final product.

I have a feeling that the final game will look pretty much identical asset wise to what we have seen which would be a colossal achievement, but the image quality will be significantly less impressive.

Didn't they claim that that original trailer was running on a PS4? I don't know if I buy that, but I think it was probably using the actual assets from that version of the game.

If character model facial detail is taking a hit so we can have that sexy lighting from the Endor trailer, I'll be more than happy.

Considering the fact that this is one of my most anticipated games ever
well techincally that was just a new Battlefront in general
and I've been a Battlefield fan since I could remember, I'm pretty damn optimistic.

People forget how great a good lighting system can make a game look. I don't think it will quite as good as these shots, but I do think it will look very close.

I've just heard the Quarren DLC is going to cost six quid.

For the post and the avatar :)

I bet a beta will be announced at E3 or something. How were the Battlefield beta announced? They were always really close to release though and feel more like demos. Also the graphics on Battlefield betas are way under what they get when the game releases. I assume this is to keep download sizes small.

So can you play as non-human troopers?

It always annoyed me how few alien (and non white-human) soldiers were in the OT.

a) This is a bullshot.
b) The game won't run at 60 fps.

Choose one or both.
It's not like the game isn't coming to PC. They chose shots that do their best to paint the game in a favourable light and then ran the game at a really high resolution. Someone with two Titan Xs will probably be able to play the game exactly the way it looks here.

Remember this BF3 shot from 4 years ago?

It wasn't showing anything that isn't in the game, they just used a freecam to show off facial details that, while present, aren't always apparent when you're shooting at people.

Pretty sure that was from a cutscene that ended up being in the game and looking quite similar to that on release.

My pc will run it just like the screenshot on the OP
1 frame per forever
.

Still, I'm really excited about this. I'm a bit skeptical but I sure hope they don't downgrade it, we need more games that can push the new cards without resorting to 4k.

I don't really care if it looks this good. A stable frame rate seems more important. The old Battlefront games didn't exactly push graphical standards.

These are obviously 1080p screenshots with some supersampling, but how can you say the game won't look like this? Every battlefield trailer and screenshot was representative of what the game looked like. You'll definitely be able to have IQ like that with a high end gpu.

Reaallllyyy wonder how this actually looks in gameplay.

The claims people who have "played" this saying it looks like that isn't very believable.

DICE is always very upfront with their visuals. If you have the hardware, it's going to look like this.

Anyone expecting this level of fidelity on consoles will be let down but hopefully people know about compromise.

Yeah not believing these. Not even when they show the footage.

Will only believe when the game releases and PC GAF tells us that it indeed looks that good.

But until then, mehhh

Graphics be dammed, I'd be more concerned with whether or not the game will actually work on launch. Remember folks this is coming from the same people who made BF4... Sure it's SW: Battlefront but DICE's last game was an absolute disaster, plus there's really no reason or evidence that Battlefront won't suffer the same fate as BF4 did. DICE has demonstrated time and time again that they can't release complete, functional and stable games on launch day. There is literally NO reason to trust them, their word means nothing and they have zero credibility and their reputation is essentially non-existent after BF4. Don't pre-order Battlefront or Mirror's Edge.

These threads always give me the impression most people have a poor idea of what current PC graphics cards are capable of.

I posted this in the Star Wars thread yesterday but it didn't get much show. anyway though, I really hope the gameplay is of the same quality because I'm gonna consume myself into this one

Well, graphics evolve from time to time, everything is possible.
It will not run with dat 4k resolutions these screens were probably taken at on consoles and most pcs, but it could look like that.

Deep inside me I hope publishers and developers don't do the same mistakes over and over again...

so how realistic is this on ps4, like not even close to the pic in OP or somewhat close ? fyi I know nothing about the capability of hardware and don't pretend to

Mmhmm, I'm not impressed by the screenshot either. It's just downsampled.

That DOF might make the top one look a bit cheap there, plus the bright lights don't look so great. Bottom one "ruined" by the closeup stuff.

I dunno though, maybe there's more to it...

I'm really hyped to see Battlefront at E3, but bullshots do nothing to me. So, my expectations are high as the day it was announced, but definitely not because of the graphics since I have no idea what to expect about it.

Hope these are not bullshots, so clean and bright.

Can anyone even recall the last time we didn't get downsampled shots for a new game?

I mean, I understand the reasoning. People are so used to seeing them that when they see direct feed stuff most of the time now they end up feeling like the game in question doesn't measure up, but still. Image quality is important and it would be nice to have materials of these games looking the way they will for most.
