Star Wars Battlefront VR Mission out now (PSVR)

Awesome experience, played it three times last night—grinning like an idiot—hopefully we will get something like VR x-wing vs tie-fighter in BF2 next year.

Promised myself (and wife) I would wait for a price drop on PSVR, but this is the sort of thing that makes it hard to wait hehe.

Screens from my playthrough

Definitely turn off the G-Force effect to get rid of the tunnel vision and turn off all HUD elements to really make this shine.

For the new page!

The image quality is ridiculous for this game. I hope Digital Foundry takes a look at it and Batman VR since they are the best looking PSVR games. Robinson as well but they went through that one.

This takes the crown for me for PSVR experiences, the fact that it is star wars helps in that regard but overall it is really well done and makes good use of the hardware given the fact that it is being done on the PS4, sign me up for a full game.

Ooh, how about another game with a connection to Star Wars through Mark Hamill?

Wing Commander 3 Remaster in VR! I absolutely LOVED this game on the PlayStation. Great story, great gameplay, bring this baby back!

Or a Colony Wars in VR! G-Police! This Star Wars VR experience really has me pumped for the future!!

X wing isn't pro enhanced but I thought it looked great. Waiting to see Eve pro patch, think it will be ludicrous.

How's the sense of scale? In regular Battlefront, the Star Destroyers and Corvettes are too small. Do they feel big enough in VR?

First time VR had started to give me a nauseous feeling, but it wasn't that strong of the feeling and only at the VERY end when I was flying all over the place.

Good fun but I felt like my head position was too close to the glass no matter how much recentering I did.

Also, a little screen drifting.

I agree that they have us sitting too high up. I wish every cockpit game had the seat position config that Driveclub VR has.

Anyone else try talking while in the 'hangar?' You can hear your own voice with a reverb effect, it's pretty cool. I noticed it the most while standing behind the X-Wing.

Its the Force, Luke

I'm not a big SW fan but damn this is awesome. I was there...right in space if you know what I mean :D Really an awesome experience.

Patch this for Pro Dice and you got gold

Holy fuck. Just played this again and turned off all HUD elements, turned off the screen edge darkening when turning and made sure to actually use my targeting computer... Wow, so much more awesome. I really felt like I was there this time.

Can't believe the targeting computer is functional. What a great touch. Felt especially cool to use it in the final assault when you take the Star Destroyer head on.

Holy shit.

Tried this this morning. This NEEDS to become a full game. Absolutely amazing experience, my childhood dreams come to life.

Gave me chills.

I was telling someone to look behind them and they kept looking a little bit to the side. I told them "No, all the way behind you.". When they spotted the R2 unit they were like ohmygod.gif. Then while they turned back they fixated on the hinge for the cockpit canopy. (Stuff that's right in your face looks super-crisp in all of these VR games, plus it has a nice metal shader.) They were trying to touch it, lol. They spent so much time with their head turned that I almost crashed into a medical frigate. (I was doing the actual flying using social screen.)

It takes getting used to for sure.

I just recently started clueing in while playing EVE that in flight sims I should probably look behind me sporadically to see if anyone is on my tail.

Nice! Gonna try that asap

This felt pretty mediocre. It wasn't challenging. All I was doing was shooting tie fighters and asteroids... and it wasn't difficult at all.
The terrible voice overs were the worst. Lot's of terribly written lines. It felt very cheesy. If you want to make an engaging VR experience don't make the body I'm in talk like someone I want to punch.
It felt very designed to be a cinematic experience instead of a virtual reality experience.
Going in and coming out hyper space was cool and turning around to see my droid was pretty cool too. I didn't even think to do this until way later. That kind of stuff is what is neat about VR.
But by _far_ the best part was the main menu with the AT-AT... oh my.

I also couldn't figure out how to fully roll. Is this not possible?

This was almost a religious experience for me. Sitting in the cockpit of an actual x-wing is something I never thought I would get to do. There's a subtle point when the light of the nearest sun shines into the console and illuminates the entire dash just made it all seem so real I was overjoyed with giddy glee.

It still has the crummy battlefront flight control scheme and ties look really pixilated from a distance but man I still couldn't help but love every minute.

Finally got around to giving this a bash, the only moment that really stood out was the imperial cruiser flying overhead. The gameplay itself just felt too bare bones and the space combat just felt like shooting re-spawning fodder.

If they added some sort of multiplayer (i.e. your squad are other players) I can imagine my enjoyment would sky-rocket.

critereon is down to a skeleton screw right? Sony should get a deal with EA to get them make a proper X wings PSVR exclusive.

I thought the Call of Duty VR demo was better, but also basically the exact same thing. Not a fan of Battlefront's flight controls.

We need a Death Star assault level!

Don't Toy with my heart! The whole time playing this I was like @_@ and immediately proceeded to put my whole family in it, its just sublime. This needs to be expanded into a full game quick smart.

I agree, the Jackal demo was way more more exciting than this. I love Star Wars, but I was pretty let down by the VR mission. The dialog is painful and there's way too much scripted exposition and not enough action. The manueverability is limited and your X-Wing is sooooo slow. Jackal Assault gets straight down to business, is faster, and the mix of shooting lasers with your normal reticule and using head-tracking for missiles is really fun.

I don't have a PS4 but if it's using Battlefront's flight control model, yeah, it's severely watered down and simple. I can't remember if you can roll in Battlefront naturally or if you have to press a button to activate that "maneuver".

Amazing mission. I really need a full game. And to think it doesn't even have pro support and looks this good already......exiting times ahead!

While we're at it remaster Rebel Assault 1 and 2? I know they're basically light gun shooters but they could be great VR experiences.

Has anyone tried the Death Star Assault in Cinema mode? Wonder if that's vomit inducing without head tracking lol.

Lol, I stared at that radiation detector device that is stuck in your cage on Ocean Decent for like 10 minutes. I mean, I was leaning over, getting right up to it, that thing looked real. Like real metal. I just stared at it and thought it was like the coolest thing.

Played it last night I spent the first 5 min just watching the AT-AT. The experience was definitely fun, I had the biggest smile on my face every time I turned around and saw my R2 unit beep at me. A couple of those planetary shots were jaw dropping.

I downloaded this thinking it was a standalone thing. Discovering it wasn't I tried to go delete it off my hard drive but it doesn't show up.

I'd prefer if it wasn't taking up space on my hard drive, any ideas on how to delete the add on file? Thanks!
