Could those red spaceships be for The Raid crew? Are they even in this movie? If there's no sick-ass fight scene with those guys I'm calling this whole sequel trilogy shit by default.

The movie also doesn't seem to be a The Empire Strikes Back rip off at first glance which was my first big fear.

Spoilers (for real, this is spoilers):

They fight in this movie.

I love the shots with these

How about instead of getting mad that the people correctly pointing out that TFA is a medicore remake of ANH, you take it out on JJ Abrams? Y'know the guy that already made a mediocre ANH remake with Star Trek 09?

Do you have friends irl?

Do you tell them your opinions are correct with a straight face?

I'm sorry. You fooled me once with episode 7. You fooled me again with Rogue One. I won't be fooled again.

It's gonna be another focus-tested safe CG borefest with boring characters.

'The last jedi'? As if anything in the Star Wars universe will ever change or go anywhere. It's the same story on loop.

Good trailer though, but I just can't be fooled again.

I don't get this "boring characters" shit

Star Wars has never had extremely complex characters

what the fuck is this book???
Dunno of its been said yet, but the whole Star Wars saga was originally supposed to be based on The Journal of the Whills, so it's possible that's what the book is supposed to be.

It goes without saying I'm super, super psyched for this movie

It's weird. As someone who grew up on Star Wars and loved the series passionately as a kid/teen I struggle to find anything interesting about the modern iterations ever since Disney took the reigns. I was already soured about the loss of good chunk of the extended universe and then Episode 7 fell flat because of the weak soundtrack, the fact that the post-episode 6 universe didn't feel fleshed out properly, and the bland and unexciting CGI space/atmosphere battles.

So I kind of expected them to do a heel turn here and offer something more but so far everything still isn't resonating. Maybe future trailers will do this movie some justice.

The way the ship almost crashes into the ground and that they have that stick scraping the ground I have the feeling that those ships actually can't fly very high.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're inspired by ground effect vehicles

You're overthinking it. Could just be a pod racing.

They already used him as bait-switch for Rey - his role in this is done...

I hope that no one actually believes this. It would have been way simpler to have him just go off on his own happy journey at the end of TFA then, or make him a sidekick for Poe. They didn't set up having him get struck down by Kylo and fall into this coma for it not to be a salient plot point later in the trilogy.

No one is fooling you but yourself. Sounds like you just simply dont like star wars. Why would you continue to see the movies if you always walk away unsatisfied?

There was just no, gigantic moment really, Lukes line was intriguing but it wasnt an intriguing visual, something you can replay multiple times, it was quite modest really.

I like the trailer btw but I can certainly see how it lacked elements that could be iconic.

Its a teaser, not a trailer.

That's some good stuff. Do we even know if Snoke is a Sith, he could be something else.

We don't, but it's worth that the Sith are not the only force wielders with the dark side and/or evil in the Star Wars universe. The Nightsisters of Dathomir weren't Sith, but they were still pretty messed up. It's quite possible for Snoke to be his own thing, still be a dark sider, and still be evil.

I honestly don't care about Finn, he can stay in coma and wake up in 9.

Can someone explain to me the technical difference between a teaser and a trailer? It seems like there is a lot of blurring between the two these days.

In Legends, IIRC it was a journal describing the history of the galaxy.

It was brought back into canon in the TFA novelization. But there hasn't been much on it yet in the new canon.

Also, I think it was the name for the first outline that George Lucas wrote for Star Wars

IIRC, it was said Luke sought out the origins of the Jedi Order in the time between eps 6 and 7, and that symbol is the symbol of the jedi order. In the old EU, the beginning of the jedi was on the planet Tython, but in this new canon it's probably the planet luke and Rey were on at the end of ep 7 (the name escapes me). Given Luke's words at the end of the trailer, I surmise that book is some long lost piece of Jedi lore, possibly even from its founding, but Luke has found either some terrible secret or some fundamental flaw that he thinks cannot be fixed without eliminating Jedi, dark or light, entirely. An interesting sort of true neutral take on the universe's karmic reality if so.

wow. that's pretty fuckin cool, I had no idea.

I don't really grasp what this means. If it didn't have the things in it that make it what it is, you wouldn't be interested?

I mean, duh. What kind of hypothetical movie would this be if it wasn't Star Wars? It IS Star Wars, that's the point.

I never understand posts like these lol
It's a boring ass trailer. If it didn't have SW which as a franchise I care about and enjoy the movies, I don't know if I'd give a shit about seeing this movie. In other words, the trailer didn't do its job and the only reason I'm seeing it is because I like the franchise.

Hope that clears it up.

There is none. I used to think teasers were like about a 30 second long scene from a movie that would end with a "coming soon", but now I think they are just regular trailers.

They rehashed TFA within TFA by resuing sets for different planets and fights.

Some nice CGI action and... that's it. I would call that quite safe trailer cut.
So you were looking and not listening

Got it

And holy shit we're at "this is a copy of TFA"?

That's not even on the bingo card
