Enjoyed Force Awakens a lot more because I stayed away from trailers.

what teasers have shown the whole movie?I for one liked that the teaser wasn't the whole movie for once.
Haha.Nice. Like the focus on the trials and training.
Hope Luke rides on Rey's back.
Or an idiot.

I don't get hyped over vague hints that only lead to hardcore fan speculation, fuck me right? I understand why fans are going bananas over hints like that because I know I would too if I was more invested in SW.
I guess as not as invested person I'm not allowed to say that trailer left me somewhat cold as it was collection of CGI action shots and some vague lore hints?

Honestly I'm not really happy with the idea that Luke would want to end the Jedi, because the whole point of RotJ was that he already overcame the rules of the old Jedi Order. If he backslid and failed because he tried to restructure the new order in the same way as the old one, then they missed the point of RotJ, where he put aside dogmatic non-attachment to save his father.
He already defeated dualism, but nothing so far has indicated that he tried to integrate that into the new Jedi.
This isn't a Gareth Edwards film. ThankfullyBe hilarious when none of this footage is in the actual film
Praise beThis isn't a Gareth Edwards film. Thankfully
It's amazing how they've made it look like BB8 is sprinting.
He really looks like he's booking it.

"Help me Obi wan"
Kylo ren actually looking kinda menacing
You have to consider and take into account all that has happened since ROTJ though. This isnt teen wide eyed Luke any more. This is the old man version of Luke who has seen and gone through some serious shit. He has a reason to be weary of Jedi now.
There is still a chance for him to take back what he says at the end of the trailer though. It is gonna be interesting to see where the story goes. Does he really think the Jedi should end? Or will he realize that Jedi are the only ones that can save the galaxy?
I don't think Jedis are exactly "vague lore" when it comes to Star Wars lol

"Seduced by the dark side"
My original point was that it's the opposite of safe. Even a casual fan can hear about Jedi going extinct and recognize how unsafe that idea is.Some nice CGI action and... that's it. I would call that quite safe trailer cut.
Just totally heard the line that Rey says "The balance" and Luke says "It's so much bigger"
Yeah, they are going to totally re-write everything about the mythos in this movie.
Can't wait for the arguements after the movie comes out.
The music in this trailer is so good. I'm not saying it's because John Williams didn't write it but...
Wow that's awesomeDon't forget the poster.

So the shot of the book shelf, it's surrounded by strange rock formations that look the same as the cave Luke is exiting at the end. So that's Luke's bookshelf, he's been reading. Is this the first book in Star Wars movie history?
My view was always that Luke essentially became a bodhisattva in that moment when he saved Anakin. I wouldn't mind if his character growth stopped there, because nothing more was needed. He became enlightened, and from that point on he should've been just been an archetype. That was part of my problem with Luke in the old EU as well.
Is Williams not doing the music for TLJ?

Couldve sworn someone visited the temple library during the prequels
IIRC, it was said Luke sought out the origins of the Jedi Order in the time between eps 6 and 7, and that symbol is the symbol of the jedi order. In the old EU, the beginning of the jedi was on the planet Tython, but in this new canon it's probably the planet luke and Rey were on at the end of ep 7 (the name escapes me). Given Luke's words at the end of the trailer, I surmise that book is some long lost piece of Jedi lore, possibly even from its founding, but Luke has found either some terrible secret or some fundamental flaw that he thinks cannot be fixed without eliminating Jedi, dark or light, entirely. An interesting sort of true neutral take on the universe's karmic reality if so.
