Starcraft Averatec-Intel Classic: Season 3

Fuck, I just missed the Beserker vs Tempest series, and launched the GOM player as they announced the winner. So fucking badly timed.

Well, I'm looking forward to Jaedong vs Effort. Should be cool :D

It's still game 2 for Berserker/Tempest.

I didn't even play Starcraft very much (and when I did, I played Use Map Settings maps. =P), and even I knew that the proxy robotics was a terrible idea. It was in a spot that is easy for units to get to.

ZvZ is the game's most unforgiving matchup. EffOrt came prepared and knew Jaedong sometimes cuts corners in his early ZvZ play and has unbeatable Mutalisk control and went for the win in the first game with a strategy that took both of those things to mind.

Game 2 was just a BO loss, it looked like. It happens, especially in ZvZ.

The first round of eight should be pretty fun. Fanboyism aside, Flash looks like the clear favorite-July's ZvT has never been spectacular, and there are two games on Neo Medusa (Flash is like 80%+ on Medusa/Neo Medusa) and one on Destination (where Flash is 75%+), with the other two being on Outsider and Heartbreak Ridge. It would be a decent map rotation for ZvT if it wasn't Flash playing as the Terran.

July has a strong macro style and should keep it close, but there's only three or so Zergs that could give Flash a real run on that kind of map rotation and he's not one of them IMO.

But it's GOM, so anything can happen. One thing else to keep in mind-Flash is going to be practicing TvZ for the MSL anyway and KT is out of the proleague playoffs, whereas July is out of both Starleagues already BUT STX, his team, is looking to win it all in the proleague playoffs this time around. Though I'm not sure July is even on the PL main list anyway, with Calm and hero playing so well as of late. Normally a S-class player like Flash would be at a big practice disadvantge due to other commitments, but this time it looks like a draw in that regard.

Caught the Reach/Boxer game (awesome) and the Nal_Ra/NaDa game (also awesome).

Didn't bother with the other two games. Figured they'd end up like they did and am going to catch english commentary later so I have something interesting to watch while I cook dinner this week.

man tonight's been wall-to-wall starcraft-3 hours of proleague playoffs and now July vs. Flash. Woo!

Flash in four, sure someone overheated his TvZ co-processor over the last month but betting against Flash in a Bo5 is just madness.

edit: I need to get GOMTV's remix of Children that they play in the intro, it's reallly ace.

Has this matchup started yet? Did I miss the first game?
Nope, looks like I was just in time. Im glad someone posted in here, or I would have missed it completely.

I love me some starcraft.

I also think Flash is going to win it. It's not going to a 5th match. 4th if July is lucky!

The matches haven't started yet but the games will be live soon, probably in the next 5 minutes or less.

EDIT: Game is on!

Flash doing that wacky goliaths into MnM. Really good when you shut out zerg scouting, July is going for mass hydra and that is going to get destroyed by mnm.

nm! July is smarty and went lurkers.

July had a decent game plan but he needed to contain Flash from that expansion at the 7 o'clock at all costs and just starve Flash out.

July almost seemed scared to try anything against Flash.

Edit: Highlight of the show

Double Edit: Friend just linked me this. :lol

It's like Flash watched July's ZvT, realized that he has no idea how to win a game if it goes late, and just went total turtle, which suits Flash fine anyway.

Seriously, how does a zerg with that much access to gas lose anything?

I think it's probable that we are getting a
Flash v. Effort final. Effort would probably have won in July position due to his game management. Then again, Effort has a lot more games to prepare for with the proleague finals coming up. Who knows, Iris might pull off an upset.

Now live.

Code:
* July 26, PDT(PST+1) 02:00 - Averatec-Intel Classic Season 3 Semi Final Match!

Semi Final Berserker(T) CJ ENTUS VS Effort(Z) CJ ENTUS

* "Best-of-Five" for each game
* Map order : Neo Medusa - A Garden of GOD - Destination - A ridge of heartbreak - Neo Medusa

The four maps out of six maps for each game will be decided as follows:
   - Each player will dismiss a map of their choice from the original 6 maps.
   - The order of the remaining 4 maps will be determined by lottery.
If there is a game 5, we will use the map used in game 1.
   - In the case that the players dismiss the same map, 4 of the 5 remaining maps will be
     chosen by lottery.

Just an aside-

(spoilers for Proleague Playoffs Tonight, don't read if you are watching the VODs)

I don't know if they will mention it in the cast-but EffOrt just pulled CJ's ass from the fire against Samsung Khan just about an hour ago. Won a come-from-behind game against by.great , won the ace match against by.great, and then won the super ace match against Stork to get CJ into the next round. Insane.

I got a glimpse of EffOrt's FP view during the Proleague tonight. His APM is definitely bisu/jaedong level blistering.

Why isn't Tasteless broadcasting? You can really hear that Super "Daniel" Man is carrying the entire commentary in terms of excitement.

Before the show they talked about how he was somewhere casting a Starcraft Heritage Tournament. So thats why hes not there. I definately like him better than whoever this guy is.

The real crazy part is that
Khan had four chances to win after the Much v. Jangbi match. It wasn't as clutch as the Skyhigh Winner's League reverse-all-kill but CJ turned it around while playing on a knife's edge.

I'm still hoping for a Flash vs. EffOrt match. I keep wondering if EffOrt has a little bit of venom in him after Flash BBS'd him out of the OSL after Flash was already mathematically eliminated in the Bo16 stages.

Just finished watching the Berserker v. Effort matches. I was surprised to see another sweep but Berserker earned his victories, dominating the last two games. Maybe Effort was tired out from his other recent games?

That makes it TvT in the finals and ZvZ in the bronze game. I'm kind of glad it's not TvZ in the finals since we just got 6 games of that in the semis, all of which forced the Terrans to basically go Medic-Marine the whole time.

I do wish a Protoss player had made the finals since TvP always seems to have the most strategy options for both players.

Effort said he practiced entirely for the match against Samsung Khan (he did play three games against Khan in one day). Iris, however, sneaked in some practice time for the GOM semi-finals. However, Effort didn't mind too much because Iris won his proleague matches and didn't put the team at jeopardy.

I read the spoiler, but I'm going to go ahead and watch that round anyways. Sounds good. Wish I had the time to keep up with more leagues, but I'm mostly trying to keep up with GOM when I can atm.

I was away for 5 minutes, doing my laundry, thinking the game would last beyond 5 minutes. When I got back, the camera was directed
at Julyzerg, declaring him the winner.
ZvZ are so fucking fast.
