If the game is good I think it should score above Mass Effect 2 and Batman Arkham City, which are both 96 on Metacritic.

But we'll have to see.

Oblivion is rated at 94 and I cant see this not being better than that.

I'm going to say 80 something. MS is locked into the " second place thought mentality " that makes people harder on them. Ps3 suffered the same thing. Even uncharted got mostly 80s 😵‍💫

Uncharted 1 is a great game but I wouldnt say its a 90+ game. Uncharted 2 is def a 95 in my book
UC1 got a lot of 9's tho

Sorry, couldn't care less about aggregate scoring sites and nor should you, make your own mind up by watching and playing the games you have even a small amount of interest in.

Until the year 2020, there were 4228 games that received a score of 80 or above on Metacritic(out of 17045 games). This number has likely increased exponentially since then. So, yes, getting a score of 80 is not that difficult after all.
Right, not difficult for AAA games. But people act like 80 is bad and 70 unplayable.

Oblivion was a masterpiece. It was doing things that many games couldn't do. I believe you're making these comments after playing it years later. Experiencing that adventure back then was a magical experience. For Starfield to be better than that game, it needs to accomplish exceptional feats.

Oh absolutely

Booting up the 360 and coming out of that cave was something magical. I hope Starfield can recreate that

95 is doable.

As an outside observer I feel like this is the type of game where a lot of sites have already predetermined their score (both high and low) before having even played the game.

I have a feeling this will be the greatest reviewed game in history. Nothing will come close to it for decades.

100, easy.

I'd like to see a 93 or 94 on this. That would put it inline with the top Bethesda games. So I'm hoping they've delivered on that.

But, i also predict there could be plenty of 8 out of tens from obscure European websites though...
From a European perspective, there are also a lot of obscure American websites shitting up the score aggregators as well. So it goes both ways.

Dont worry, there will be many saviors as well.

Of course, as also Sony-exclusive magazines will contribute to Sony's first-party stuff and Nintendo-exclusive magazines will contribute to Nintendo's first-party stuff. This has been the case since gaming magazines exist.

92.

I think the media wants this to be a GOTY candidate badly, but Bethesda hasn't shown off any interesting looking combat pre release so I'm expecting it to get dinged harshly there.

I predict that the shine of a new game will quickly wear off depending upon the gameplay loops and the fact that it still has that Bethesda stiffness to it, thus it will end up being high 80s.

92.

Extremely ambitious, accomplishing things never before done in videogames, but also a little rough around the edges and inconsistent here and there.

Low to mid 80s. Some of the more Xbox centric sites were always going to give this some sort of positive take , given the criticism Spencer and the Xbox division have gotten the last year or two, I don't trust some of them to be sincere whatsoever.

Having said that I hope it's a brilliant game and as a Xbox guy myself it's in my interest for it to be as good as it can be, I have no trust in a fair number of those Xbox media people and thankfully I can try it myself.

Will get a solid score, but the main nitpicky part will be it's still Gamebryo-ish. Going by the leaked videos, it's definitely got that ES and Fallout feel.

I think this game will review better than Fallout 4, and more in line with Fallout 3, Oblivion and Skyrim.

They have been cooking this for a long time, and it is the game they wanted to make.

When a hugely talented team, lead by a hugely talented individual, are given licence to complete their passion project - I think it's going to be a banger.

I say 91 but you never know with Bethesda, I wouldn't be surprised if it's mid 70s and Crowbcat makes an hour long special of all the bullshit spouted by BGS, I also wouldn't be surprised if it's 95+ and challenging for GOTY
