I'm merely stating that so far all they've sold is hot air.

The ones getting triggered are the rabid fanboys that haven't learned a thing from all of the other hyped-up disasters we've seen in recent years. I'm not rooting against Starfield but I am just amazed that people seem to lap this shit up, yet again, purely on the basis of promises and promo nonsense.

I hear you, but back then they were only selling games. They aren't just selling games anymore. Hence, why this is so strange to me.

Judging by how Starfield threads go on NeoGaf, there are more people under-hyping than over-hyping it.

Both camps should shut the fuck up and wait for a proper reveal.

I think Todd is possibly one of the best hype men alive. If they show anything he will be on a stage, perfectly lit, with wind subtly blowing through his perfectly styled hair. Everyone posts about his lies because the man can talk up games with the best of them. By the end of his E3 presentation, people are going to be pre-ordering stupid watches and canvas collector's edition bags by the truckload.

This sounds like a response to elden ring almost reminding people they did the "exploring" thing first and best. I feel more confident after this conversation.

They've been using the same kind of game engine for decades. Lets see if Bethesda can finally break away from it. Or we'll just get this but with an alien wearing a space helmet and sci-fi fonts.

Their game engine remains incredibly unique and abandoning it would kill off some of the feel of their games. (see: Elder Scrolls Online, which feels nothing like Skyrim, whereas Fallout 76 feels like online Fallout.)

It also continues to look just fine considering all of the above.. and certainly doesn't look anything like Oblivion.

I play Skyrim all the time w/ barely any graphics mods (honestly just some specific ones that aren't some super graphics enhancement mods) and I'm not distracted by the graphics whatsoever. I'm pulled into the world and I play.
 
Still having having really high hopes for it. And for Bethesda to prove they are capable of delivering a polished game. Please be good!
 
I never care for these types of videos. I would prefer they do some gameplay with commentary instead of the 99% round table with a movie-like trailer and some concept art thrown in. But I get that they need to do this.
 
I really don't get how so many people in this thread still don't understand that Bethesda has ALWAYS revealed their games the same way.

Gameplay reveal = Summer (It has always been at E3)

Release = Fall of the same year (except Morrowind and Oblivion which were delayed, but were intended for fall releases)

They have released with this formula longer than some of the people posting in this thread have been alive.
If you want gameplay footage it'll be shown at E3, until then stop acting so surprised/shocked/astounded they aren't showing something they've never shown at this point in their history of releases.
 
Great video, that companion looks amazing. That must Be a high end pc running that. I want to just sit on my couch and play, I hope it has cross progression saves between pc and Xbox. Hearing that, would make my day.

this looks like it could be really special.

Compare Starfield to other bethesda games, they know exactly what they ar doing. You will see a deep dive at E3 showing of more than gameplay, they will show actual systems and how they work and people will go crazy then pre orders will go live and you will hear about how it's one of the most pre ordered games even though it's on game pass day one.

bethesda know exactly what they are doing with their marketing campaign.
 
I enjoyed the video, i am still expecting Skyrim in Space but honestly that sounds dope if there is a world that I can immerse myself into and make my own story.

Hopefully Modders then add new worlds for me to jump onto.
 
Sounds exciting. The art direction is so good and that shot in game of the companion looks nice. They're keeping their cards close so they can WoW at E3 duh.

If anyone is wondering why this batch of videos are awful and boring, it's because they're not for us, they're for investors to show that "work" is being done.

I agree. I have no doubt. I am pretty sure Todd will show ample Starfield gameplay this E3, in his usual fashion -- which includes very in-depth gameplay information. It's a pretty good template of how most gameplay presentations should be.

But that hasn't happened yet (it will this E3, I'm sure), but it hasn't happened yet. And thus I was correcting the person who said that we have already seen more of Starfield than we have of God of War Ragnarok, which is factually incorrect.

Do they still need to please "investors" now that MS owns it? I doubt it. And I doubt MS shareholders would be interested in the progress update of one of the games of one of the divisions in Microsoft.

Their games are one of the most successful things in all of gaming.



And nobody even tries to copy it. It would be dumb to stop doing what they do, no one else ca do it.

Everyone has to pay "the man". Even when you're owned by MS you still have to show that you're making some sort of progress if you don't have real gameplay to show.
