Status of PSN cards

Has anyone seen these in a store yet? I seem to recall that about two months ago Sony said "we're pushing them to stores now" and yet I've still not seen any. I've found this one on eBay but I wonder if the cards are even active at that price?

As I've mentioned before I took my credit card off my PSN account after that hacking thing a few months ago and I'd really like to start buying stuff again but I'll only do it with these cards. So what's the hold up?

Im curious about this too. And i hope sony comes with EURO psn cards soon, im so sick of not being able to buy content.

No sign of them in Canada (Ontario). I don't understand -- how hard it can be to make these things? I've been wanting to buy SSDHD, and I'm REALLY wanting to buy Wipeout HD, and my credit card doesn't work on PSN for some reason. I want to give you my money Sony, give me PSN cards please.

It says "Your credit card information is not valid. Please check your entries carefully."

I've called my CC company / bank, and they don't know what the problem is. I've made sure I have AVS, and PSN support said to call my bank. I've made sure all of my details are identical to how they are on my billing statement. I've used this card for numerous other online purchases on Steam, Wiiware, etc. There are plenty of other people with the same issue: here

PSN cards are one of the biggest f*ck ups this generation. Honestly, it's three years into this gen and you still can't buy PSN cards, WTF Sony. A lot of people praise Sony for pricing their game in monetary incrimants as opposed to the point system used by their competitors, however the point system at least have point cards associated with them. Good riddence I say...

Some local Meijer stores have slots around the PS3 accessory aisle saying "PS3 Network Card", $20.00 and $50.00. The pricetag was put up like 5/18/08. It says to ask associate for details, but when an associate was asked, they said they didn't get them in yet. Basically, there is an SKU for them up now, just that they aren't in stores yet. My guess is very soon.

In case people don't know Meijer, they are a store like Wal-Mart only in the Midwest of the U.S.

Part of it had to do with SCEA didn't have a system setup (the PS Store was kind of created at the last minute; therefore, they didn't have anything setup to deal with payment) early on to handle redeeming codes and such (SCEJ did). SCEA had to set that up first, and they've been doing a small test run of the cards near military bases or something. Nintendo and MS already had it planned long ago which is why they got it out at launch.

Well, technically on PSN, you are really only suppose to be 18 years or older to have a Master Account (well, that's what Sony says in their terms of service and such, although some don't follow that) where they assume most will have a credit card. The sub-accounts don't have an age limit and SCEA assumes that the parent/guardian will transfer money to a sub-account for the younger one (like give them $20.00 to spend).

Good to know. I used an H & R Block debit card from my taxes to buy the COD 4 maps, and that was pretty much what I had left on the card, so these PSN cards would be very cool for me.

Well I guess that's something, thanks. Hopefully they make it to stores that exist in more than 6 states soon enough.

I have a feeling they'll come around early June (maybe near MGS4 release). But seeing the slot in retailer is a very good indicator they are coming soon (they were in $20 and $50 increments, exactly what SCEA said was coming). No other store had the slots for PSN cards yet.

I had the same problem. The solution at least for me, was a very easy one. I don't know if you live in an apartment or not. But under billing address, I just put my apt number on line 1 and the street name on line 2 instead of the other way around which is the normal way to fill out your address...

1 year and 6 months, actually, for PS3. But hey, who needs math or understanding of time passed when you can complain, right?

well he did say "this gen" and that technically started in 2005 but even that is more like 2.5 years, not 3.

That's what you have to do when dealing with an apartment number. You just put it into address line 1. A few friends told me Sony told them to do that, and I told a few others to do it and it fixed their problem. Also, the credit card address the bank has on file must match what you enter on PSN, so if it has your street name as "maple st", you must enter the exact same thing since something like "Maple St." may not work. It's very case sensitive.

Hyperbole much? One of the biggest fuckups?

I still don't understand how 'this gen' correlates to the PS3 or Sony, for that matter.

I've seen lots of them though.

I live in a house, and I'm inputting the address 1:1 with how it is on the billing statement. Thanks for trying though :(

but to shop on a military base you have to 1) get on base and 2) be allowed to shop on base. this requires that you are either in the military or a retiree of said military.

Won't I have to pay taxes twice if I get a card?
based on those times I've bought gift cards, you don't pay tax on the purchase of the card, just on the use of the card. And even then, I've only paid tax on PSN purchases around 15% of the time. I don't know why it's not consistent but it isn't.

What people dont understnad and Sony is not making well known is that one time debit cards work just fine. The gift card kind that you can get from the grocery store or the bank with a Visa logo.

Just get one of those with whatever denomination you want and no problems.

I apologize for pushing this thread up a little, but there's news around various blogs and websites (along with a confirmation by me, checking in-store), Meijer (located in the Midwest) sells PSN cards right now.

If someone bought them before 6/13/08, they might have run into issues. There are still some issues with them (which explains why SCEA is slowly releasing them into more retailers, so they can test them out and assure they work).

i live in the USA I have not seen them at all. i have gone to best buys and wal-mart. they don't have any psn card. i want to buy the capcom games on psn but i don't want to put my credit card on psn. if sony don't get the cards out soon i might have to get them on XBLA. after i had the DRM problem with my 360 live acount i am sometime afraid to buy games from XBLA

thanks for the info. I wonder what kind of "issues" could they possibly be having with these things? I mean, retailers have been doing these kind of cards for awhile now, it's not like the technology/design is something new.
