If you're unsure about your computer handling TF2 just play the game in DirectX 8.1 mode. The specular effects will be gone and you'll get circle shadows, but due to the art style the game will still look good and it'll run fast even on integrated cards.

At that settings it runs at ~40 fps on a freaking Radeon 9200. Just make sure you have 1GB or more of RAM, Source games love their RAM and can behave strangely if there isn't enough of it.

Hmm. I got this game yesterday and so far it just runs.. bad. Low fps and it freezes every couple of seconds -_- .. The strange thing is: I can run games like CS:S and Half Life 2 just fine on high detail.. :/
(Maybe it's the 1gb or RAM that's beginning to kind of bother me?)

Just go to commentary mode, pick a Scout, and run around, lowering settings until it runs well enough for you.

If you enable the console in advanced keyboard options you can use the command cl_showfps 1 to keep track of the FPS.

I have the same thing. I have geforce 6600, yeah it's old but ig et 20-30 fps so i can play, a little.

Must be the ram, my pc has shitty ati integrated graphics (laptop), dual core amd 64, and 2gb of ram and i get at least 40fps with settings on high but on the lowest res. So it looks good enough and is fast as hell, the art style still looks great on low like WoW does. When I upped the res it got bad so I just knocked it back down.

So glad I bought this saturday, the most fun online game for me, its night and day better than the 360 version.

I found the game ran like shit on my old PC, and it had 2GB of RAM. Some people seem to get better results than others. I have a 7 series NVIDIA, 2GB of RAM and 800x600 and managed 30fps tops.

big differences on the maps, indoor maps is playable for me, but outside is as a pain. I'm gonna buy a new pc tho after the summer holidays so i can play it in high res and 1024x768 or higher.
