Science Adventure series visual novel reboot STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on August 20 in Japan, MAGES. announced. It will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text language options, with Japanese audio.

Spike Chunsoft previously announced plans to release STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT in the west in 2026. While the company has yet to announce a western release date, the Japanese version's inclusion of English language support suggests the western version could launch on the same day.

In Japan, the game will be available in the following editions:

  • Standard Edition(7,480 yen / 8,580 yen on Switch 2)
    • A copy of the game (full game card on Switch 2)

Cut script? Why? I thought they would add a few more time leap scenarios to make things interesting. Not that I'm super interested in replaying Steins;Gate, it's still fresh in my mind.

This is based on the Elite script and not the original Steins Gate, it seems.

Looks like the August 20 western release is just PC and Xbox. Switch 1&2 and PS5 are coming on October 29. There's also a physical edition for PS5 and SW1&2.

I mean I love Steins;Gate and I own 3 or 4 different copies including the special edition PC physical from way back.

I don't get the point of this other than going to new platforms I guess. Hell, if S2 physical is on the cart, I might grab it. I already have a S1 physical.

This reboot claims to have new story and routes. We'll see how significant those additions are.
