No one ever rolls with Stephen's ridiculous interviews. They all get super serious. C'mon Eminem, have some fun with it!

They were probably advised to be the straight man in all the interviews instead of trying to out-funny Stephen. Eminem played along by acting confused and unprepared through a somewhat scripted piece

He had me at "Michigander" and that fucking smile while he fake-watered.

I'm in for the Late Show. Guess I'm finally old enough to want to watch a broadcast station's late night talk show. Oh the Colbmanity!

The whole point of hiring Colbert and Fallon. That previous "I guess I'm old enough to watch late night broadcast TV" threshold is destroyed.

That was ridiculous and very funny; Two of my favorites on a local show? Life is strangely wonderful sometimes.

Eminem : "There will be a traffic meeting July 22nd. All traffic officials are required to attend so if you're on the road between 5 and 7, floor it."

Eminem on the show was the cherry on top holy crap. Colbert is never NOT funny.

Seconded.
Colbert asking him his "fall-backs" was fantastic, as was his "I really have no idea whats going on". Great chemistry.

Well fuck me for not watching the last 90 seconds.

I love the fact that Colbert had a five minute with discussion with Em over the line "I'm Phenominal, it might make me a monster though". Not the song just that line.

Eminem is such a good actor, I almost allowed myself to be fooled into thinking he genuinely didn't know what was going on.

It may be just because it's late, but I lost my marbles when the first "Southpaw" footage appeared. Stephen Colbert is incredible. Especially to pull that off with no audience, that's hard.

It's humorous, but it's so dry. They did it a little too well I think.

It's basically like a 40 minute Better Know a District segment, so Colbert is quite practiced in the art of the silent cringe.

Amazing.

Eminem needs to be Stephen Colbert's Andy Richter on the Late Show.

I'm almost positive em almost lost it when Steven started saying "YOU COME IN MY HOUSE AND FLEX UP ON ME?"

You can hear stifled laughs and when the camera comes back he very clearly is trying not to lose it.

This whole video was awesome.

Phenomenal.

What makes it extra special is how 'long form' (for lack of a better word) it is. There's plenty of great Colbert Report-style jokes and wordplay (a personal favorite: "There's no I... in MPACT."), but by taking the full 40+ minutes of the timeslot really gives it the unique stiltedness of public access TV. Just brilliant.

Colbert just seems to be getting better and better, and Colbert Report was already the best thing in Late Night since, at least, Conan's NBC days. Just thinking about how many classic moments of television his incarnation of the Late Show will give us brings a tear to my eye. Can't wait.
