Steven Universe Season 3 |OT| Clods Among Us

That explains why season 3 ends with episode 25 but it doesn't make sense to count a bunch of shorts as an episode because ... they're not. Even if they were produced in place of an episode. Whatever, this isn't the first time a network promoted an episode as the 100th even if it wasn't.

Bismuth and Jasper are both big and brawly gems, Bismuth appeared to be an ally but turned out to have turned on Rose and almost killed Steven, could this be a hint that jasper who so far appears to be a villain will be redeemed?
Defeating and bubbling her would be anticlimactic after that's what happened this episode with Bismuth, they can't shatter her either, this episode basically told us that crystal gems don't shatter their enemies no matter what. Jasper getting corrupted would just lead to her getting bubbled as well.
Redeeming her would add a different personality type to the group and it would give them some necessary muscle in future battles with homeworld. Lapis, Peridot and Jasper already came to earth as a group of three, so why not stick them all in the barn as the B-Team.

I think the opposite, actually. Jasper is absolutely a gem that Bismuth would have thought should be shattered. Steven hates Jasper right now, but his encounter with Bismuth showed him what happens when someone takes fighting "the enemy" way too far. He or Amethyst will soundly defeat Jasper, and she'll tell them to shatter her. Steven will refuse and give her another chance. It will probably blow up in his face and he'll have to bubble her. But he will at least show her mercy and maybe her confusion over this will lead to a slow, but gradual change.
Also, to be fair, Jasper was NEVER this adamant about killing Steven like Bismuth was. It's weird. She's a huge asshole, but she may think that defeat is enough in battle. Her comment about getting rid of Amethyst after she poofed her may hint that she was going to shatter her, but it's vague.

Eh, thought it was okay. Way too predictable. I feel like I've seen this story a hundred times before in cartoons.
Bismuth was a pretty great episode,
and as a character she turned to be a fairly interesting one. It's worth watching this episode twice and see a whole another reason for her first actions, looking around for Rose. Speaking of Rose it was surprising to find out how she did Bismuth, it's not unexpected that like Steven she wouldn't want to use that weapon but to not let anyone know about what really happened, that's a bit messed up. Was she worried that people would be in favor of Bismuth's weapon and cause a divide of sorts? Wonder what Rose other secrets are. Even though Rose did what she did Bismuth still gave that nice speech to Steven about being his own person, and in hindsight that scene is bittersweet. She seemed to have a lot of respect for Rose in spite of the resentment that's there too now. Her last scenes were somber. This is probably going to weigh heavy on Steven from what he had to do to Bismuth and in regards to his complicated feelings on Rose.
Overall, Bismuth was a cool to be introduced to and I'm glad this was an extended episode, we got enough time to see a nice dose of her different sides with the camaraderie scenes with Pearl and Garnet to how intense she could get. Also another good showcase of Steven in a tight spot, I think over these new episodes they did a good job of showing how much stronger and durable he has gotten.
Oh and lol at Steven saying "thank you boo" to Lion and Amethyst trying to eat that pizza wrap.
Overall, Bismuth was a cool to be introduced to and I'm glad this was an extended episode, we got enough time to see a nice dose of her different sides with the camaraderie scenes with Pearl and Garnet to how intense she could get. told Steven that he doesn't have to be Rose. Also, it looks like that theme about the massive flaw of lying to others to protect them is coming back.
That line hit hard.

There's not a chance in the world that Rose's treatment of Bismuth isn't coming up again. I'd bet on it.
Rose told the others that she lost track of Bismuth during a battle and let them all think that Homeworld had captured/possibly shattered Bismuth.
Agreed, a good bit of moments could have used spaced out time like this.

This episode was really good, but it also makes me look back some previous episodes in a new light: the ones with Marty, Kevin, and Jasper.
Before I was wondering why the show seemed to suddenly be leaning on having more villainous characters, but now it makes sense. It was set-up for this episode, with Steven having people he actually really dislikes, and in Jasper an actual threat and enemy, to
That's a really good writing trick. Builds up a base of knowledge/emotion to draw on for new characters.

give more legitimacy to Bismuth's views while also making Steven's refutation stronger by him knowing real adversity.

It really re-contextualizes stuff like Sapphire's "Rose couldn't have known!" in Keeping It Together. Not to say that Rose actually knew about the fusion experiments, but the fact that Sapphire would even imply the possibility (that Rose knew about the experiments and kept it from Garnet) says a lot about how often Rose hid things from even those closest to her, and how painfully aware everyone else was that they weren't always getting the full story from her.
Pearl(both in Rose's Scabbard and in this episode) keeps expressing absolute trust in Rose despite all the secret keeping, but I do wonder if this isn't gonna become a bigger problem for Garnet(who seems fall into hero-worshippping Rose far less than the others).
All this just makes me wanna know what's in that chest even more.
