Suggestions for local co-op games on ps4.

I know this thread pops up quite often, but wanted to make sure I got an updated answer. It seems I'm a little out of the loop with gaming right now.

A friend is coming over tomorrow to hang out. She enjoys video games but all the games I have (aside from a few ps+ titles) don't have local MP.

I'll be going to my local store(s) tomorrow to source an extra ds4, but I also need ideas for co-op games.

She likes pretty much everything aside from FPSs.

Her favourite games so far have been Odinsphere (ps4) and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

I have Diablo 3 and Guacamelee (she likes Guacamelee!).

Thanks!

Rayman legends

Fun platforming, good mix of nonsensical fun and challenge. Game is right there with guacamelee! for me when it comes to games to co-op ps4 games.

Also broforce is hilarious and very enjoyable also

The ADK Damashii PS2 classic has some decent 2 Player games.
Real Bout Collection is worth checking out too.
Trackmania Turbo
Metal Slug 1 Arcade classic (PS2 compilation release has input lag apparently)

Off the top of my head for now :x

FPS include TPS ?

Because EDF 4.1 is the best local couch co-op ever, i played like 200 hours with my girlfriend, and she is not a gamer at all.

There Raymand Legend too

Resident Evil Revelation 2 is good too in coop.

More suggestions, FYI do a search for ACA to find more Arcade classics on PSN
Contra
Neo Turf Masters

Assault Android Cactus

Rayman seems like the most fitting suggestion so far for those offering suggestions.

I don't think she'll enjoy RL much, but I will show her a video and suggest it.

I have LBP3 too, completely forgot and she tried that last time and liked it. Completely forgot it was co-op. thank you!

TPS are fine. She can't handle FPS controls (we tried reversing them). She ends up looking at the ceiling/wall and getting into a panic. :p

- Towerfall Ascension
- Lovers in a dangerous spacetime
- Super dungeon bros
- Fat Princess adventures
- Rocket league
- Littlebigplanet 3
- Resident Evil Revelations 2
- Terraria
- Octodad
- Surgeon Simulator
- Starwhal

Nothing shooting related included

For what its worth, though Until Dawn isn't technically co-op, I had a lot of fun splitting up cast members amongst friends and passing the controller. Its good fun.

Similarly I think Beyond: Two Souls actually supports two controllers for the same style of play.

If she likes Odin Sphere, she might like Salt and Sanctuary, which also has deep 2D combat

You'd need to read up beforehand about how co-op works though
Co-op in that can be frustrating at times because if one player dies, the other has to go back to a sanctuary to revive them.

Rayman legends is a great suggestion
I'd recommend Lara croft and the temple of Osiris it was free on ps plus
Gauntlet is pretty decent but if you already have Diablo it's kind of moot.
Helldivers is a fun one as well

EDF does play much like an FPS, even though it's TPS. Do be aware of that. If you still end up getting it consider letting her play as the Air Raider, which doesn't require as much aiming as the other classes. Or Wing Diver if she doesn't like Air Raider's indirect way of attacking.

Loads of good suggestions here, I won't reply to everyone but I am noting everything!

Is this difficult? She plays most games on easy.

I'll probably get it for me anyway, it looks like a fun game to dip in and out of. Thanks for the tips!

Mercenary Kings (PSN title).

I really can't recommend this game. It's quite bad.

Seconds on "Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime", it's part of the instant game collection this month on PSN.

"Helldivers" is also brilliant couch co-op.

Oh, how did I forget? If you have PSVR, "Keep talking and nobody explodes" is an excellent co-op / party game.

Everyone and their mother has played it at this point, but did you consider Minecraft? I played it a bit with my girlfriend and it's really fun and relaxing just to start a new survival world and build it up bit by bit with each other. Or make something together in creative? It's always my goto split screen game when we have a good bit of time to kill.

I know it's a little bit of a tangent from the topic, but if you have more than just one friend coming by the Jackbox Party Pack games are always a fun time. That and since they use everyone's smartphone, you don't need to buy extra controllers that don't see use otherwise.

It's probably not for her then. It's trying to mimic Souls so it is pretty difficult, yes. You could make it easier by leveling up a character for her to use a bit, beforehand. The co-op player can be any of the characters you have on your profile
