Suikoden II coming to PSN? Rated on ESRB

I wonder what this means for collectors, price wise.

As someone who owns an original copy of Suikoden II: it doesn't matter.

Soon, hopefully, everyone who wants to will be able to legally purchase the game and enjoy it themselves. That's cool.

It'll join Radiant Silvergun, Earthbound, and all the other games that can now be enjoyed by more than just collectors' shelves.

Even if it was removed there is still activity happening with the link. Its pretty much a guarantee unless konami just wants to see the puppets dance as they whip kojima to make more metal gear.

Please be true, always wanted to play part 2 (only one in the series I missed out on). I should probably pick up the first one on psn, stupid teenager me always selling my games. :(

I'll believe it when I see it, as in I can click "Buy".

We also need Lunar SS and EB on the store as well.

Man that'd be pretty damn sweet.

I have to say, between this, the PS1 FF's, Xenogears, and the Crash, Spyro and Tomba games, PSN's PSX offering isn't looking half bad.

Soo what is the likelihood of this coming possibly next week when that Japanese Vita game sale is supposed to happen? (Or was it the week after?)

Wait, this seems like it's happening even if they took it down, right? I mean, unless the ESRB is going for unfathomably masterful trolling. If anything, there's a tiny chance the ESRB taking it down could mean that someone asked them not to blow the surprise, which could mean there are other announcements on the way...

I played 2 a few years ago and was like HOLYSHITTHISISTHEBESTGAMEEVER

Then I played 1 and loved it.

Then I played 3 and I didn't get it. The performance and graphics actually got in the way of my enjoyment of the game.

I thought the graphics were pretty good for an early PS2 game. Actually they were really sharp for a PS2 game for some reason

I didn't like 3 much though. Thought the story and characters were lame and the battles weren't so good either. I played 5 later and it was much better, though it didn't get really good till like the 25-30 hour mark. The game's worst flaw is the random encounter rate.

I like hyperbole as any other person, but Suikoden 4 is far from terrible.

I would like all series rereleased, and continued. At least they could not leave EU out this time.

I'm a huge Suikoden fan and the loading times / boat shit damn near killed my Suikoden 4 playthrough. It was pretty bad.

this series introduced me to rpg's when i was a kid. i so hope this is true and comes out soon. looks like i might just play through 1 again just in case even though i already have a 100% file on my ps3 already from when the 1st game came out on psn.

I'm huge Suikoden fan too and I like 4, it has its shortcomings, but I like it and played it 3 times. It's not the best Suikoden, but terrible? not even close.

If loading times killed 4 for you, you haven't played 5th, which is a great game but frequent and long loadings is almost too much to bear.

i have a copy of S5 that i bought used from gamestop a while back, but when i came home and tried to play it, it hitched and froze once the title card came around.

Suikoden - The original I never played. I remember hearing it at the time of release, even then people complained about it's cover. I did see it in a store once but passed on it.

Suikoden II - I was not about to make the mistake of the first time. As I said before quite possibly the greatest RPG ever made.

Suikoden III - Fantastic intro song. Can't match the epicness of the second game but it was still pretty darn good. The gimmick of having three main characters was very divisive back then.

Suikoden IV - Definitely the weakest of the games in characters and story. It's decent or average at best. Not terrible enough to be bad, not good enough to be good.

Suikoden V - A return to form and probably the best since the second game. The issues it had involved load times and graphics which turned people off. If you can get past this its' definitely worth the play through and quite enjoyable. Came out at a low point after IV and never got the attention it deserved.

Suikoden Tierkreis - Not a bad game on it's own merit but doesn't match the main series either. It's a good fun RPG on your DS and there's nothing wrong with that itself. Supposedly was going to set a new tone for the franchise that abandoned the previous storyline and plot which angered many long time fans that wanted to see the main series continue.

I remember there was a lot of people hating Suikoden III back when it was released. Then Suikoden IV came out and... well...

III is a good game, but it wasn't what we where expecting. It has it's flaws, but there are a lot of interesting things on it. Something like the Trinity system, but with a bit less repetition, could be VERY interesting on a future game. I loved seeing the different views of the same conflict for different sides.

(There where some crazy people that didn't like Suikoden II but loved I, too. Don't know what happened to those people.)

3 was a cool game but I was disappointed with the dungeon design... most of it were either empty fields or extremely linear paths with one or two forks that occasionally led to loot. I like the look of the game, it reminds me of a Dreamcast game with its attempt at 60FPS, clean textures, simplistic geometry and lack of lightning.

I haven't played any games past 3 yet, I want to try and get 4 and Tactics done later this year. 5 is the next one I'm really anticipating playing though.

Somehow completely missed this thread yesterday.

So hyped.

Now if I can just figure out who the hell has my copy of Suikoden IV all will be right in the world...

So we have no sort of a timeline (even a speculated one) for this huh? Not even for an official confirmation? This indefinite wait is gonna kill me.

Nope. The ESRB rating was the first positive sign that Suikoden II would be coming to PSN. Now that the same rating was taken down, ball is on Konami's court whether they want to officially announce it or say it was all a misunderstanding. Have mercy on them if it is the latter though.

So is there a reason why it would get rated and then never released?

These scenarios kind of happen. For example, Earthbound was ESRB rated for the Wii long ago until it was taken down. It never released for that system, only the Wii U years later.

And then there are the situations where a game gets rated for a recent console but never come out (see Haunting Ground).

There are cases where games were rated but never appeared, so it's best not to expect anything.

Oh my god, I can't take yo-yo-ing with my heart like this.

They deserve no mercy if it's the latter :P

Almost worse than Capcom with Megaman fans. (Ok, now I'm exaggerating, I know)

No you're not. Fans have been dying for this for years. It'd be so cruel and uncalled for to randomly (and however accidentally it may be) tease this and then run off.

The intro was really slow.

I mean you go from 2's absolutely bombastic opening to 3...I was helping little kids in their hideout or whatever. I was like whatthefuck.

I understand it's much better than that but I just couldn't.

Think of the way I felt. I bought the PS2 because Suikoden 3 came out. It hurt for a while to come down from the goodness that was 2 to what we got in 3. It took a while, but it did finally hit a groove and the story started coming together for me. And I got used to the game system.

4 (Suikoden Sailing), OTOH, just was a big meh. I probably could have put up with all the changes (e.g. going to only 4 party members), but, basically, the story was flat and I never could bring myself to care about the main character at all. Part of that was a real lack of connection to the earlier games (seeing Ted again was nice, but that was it). However, I have a better opinion of 4 because of Tactics; I think it saved 4 for me, at least a little bit. I used to wish I had the time I spent playing 4 back, but Tactics helped redeem 4 a little bit for me.

Then 5...oh, man. Even with the loading times and all that, it felt like a return to 2. It was a breath of fresh air after 3 and especially after 4.

As someone who owns all the US physical copies, I'm hoping my Suikoden 2 deprived bros here have a chance at playing this game. I bought the PSN version of Suikoden I and my wallet is ready to shell out for 2, just to show support.

Yeah, it would be cruel, but not Capcom trolling megaman fans levels of cruel.

They haven't confirmed nothing, but they also didn't deny anything. There's hope. I have waited years for this, I can wait a bit more.
