So when I bought Suikoden 5 (the day it came out) I had just come off of Suikoden 4. Putting in Suikoden 5, I found the camera angles to be horrible (since I had just come off of having the camera behind me and rotatable) so I ended up playing for about 20 hours and then moving on to something else. I thought to myself "man, I thought the camera angles in Suikoden 3 were bad, but this takes the cake!" so I put the game away and started playing all my tons of other RPGs.
Well, over the past few weeks I had played through Suikoden 2, then Suikoden 1, and thought about playing through 4 again. (I know a lot of people don't like 4, but I think it's great)
I consider myself a huge suikoden fan, but I remembered that I never played all the way through 5, so on saturday morning I popped it in the ol' PS2 and gave it another shot. As of yesterday (including saturday, sunday, and tuesday night (as I had stuff going on monday) I am about 20 hours in again and frankly I can't imagine how I put the game down a year before. This game is fantastic. It is fastly becoming my second favorite game in the Suikoden series (2 will always be king)
Sure the graphics arent that great, and a lot of the voice acting is terrible, but storywise the game is phenomenal. I love the music, and I love the animations of all the characters, especially in cutscenes. I love having 6 character parties. I love having so many different characters to choose from, all with their own personalities and everything. This game is like they took everything I loved about the first two games and left out all the crap from 3 and 4. Sure the camera angle bothers me once in a while, but not like it did before.
Really, if you do not own this game and own a PS2, go get it right now.
