Dang guys, thanks a lot. Going to write these down, and it looks like I'll have evening content for a long time coming, since a lot are luckily on Crunchyroll! I'll probably have to get a subscription so I can watch on my daily commutes too.

I really liked Usagi Drop, and I hope that in a few months I'll forget what I know about the manga and just stick to enjoying what I watched, which was really great, heartwarming stuff. That recommendation was definitely spot on, because I loved it! :)

Edit: Dororon Enma-kun Merameera looks like it was done by the same guys that did New Cutey Honey? Because we both thought that one was hilarious, and she used to watch it in the 90s.

Both Go Nagai. Don't know if he was involved in the production of the anime for either, but it's definitely his art style. Enma-kun is actually a remake of an anime from the 70s, but of course a thousand times more exaggerated to keep up with modern standards.

Also, can't believe I forgot to recommend Gurren Lagann before (if you haven't seen it already). One of the most inspirational hot-blooded shows out there. Episode 11 alone made me want to completely change my lifestyle and go out and actually do something productive (I didn't, but you get my point).

If you liked Usagi Drop you should check out Wandering Son. Its heartwarming but in a different way. Its also on Crunchyroll.

Enma-kun is amazing, and fits the bill of what you want very well. Very over the top, very lighthearted, and just a genuinely fun anime. I would strongly recommend it.

The suspense for the next episode is killing me.

Been thinking about Sket Dance 25 all day. Don't think an episode of anything has affected me this much in a long time. -minsc- was right when he said the show would step out of Gintama's shadow after that.

Gintama 195-199

Crazy and hilarious arc. Not one episode went by without me laughing out loud at some point. The intercom scene, the eating contest, the balls; so fuckin funny.

Glad we finally get some back story on Ketsuno. Interesting how they called back to something that was revealed like 100+ episodes ago which everyone thought was unimportant
(the marriage)
.
Sket Dance

As I haven't read the manga, it remains to be seen if Sket Dance can keep it up. The potential is there. Unlike GinTama, which does have elements of a battle manga, I see the serious arcs in Sket Dance being pure drama.

GinTama

"It's like an episode of Dragon Ball!"

This won't be the last time Sorachi will take a few lines of dialog from way back and build an arc around them.

Hi guys

I'm kind of new to anime, but I'm having second thoughts as to whether or not I'll find anything I can really just sit down an enjoy coming out of Japan (and appearing on Crunchyroll, which is really my only source for this stuff outside of whatever my girlfriend buys). She got me to it with Slayers and Dragon Ball Z Kai, and we recently finished FMA: Brotherhood, which I enjoyed.

I decided to go to Crunchyroll to try to find some stuff on my own. I was mostly looking for lighthearted stuff, comedy, drama that turns out well in the end (more 'Rocky' and less 'In Bruges'). I was able to handle the stuff we watched in Claymore, but mostly, I want to wind down, have a good laugh, a little tension but not be crushed like Code Geass (which I recently quit watching because of
Shirley
) or Usagi Drop (because we discovered manga's fucking horrible ending).

See, I liked Brotherhood because it had some humour to it, a little bit of warmth, and the good guys win. That's essentially what I want to watch. Good people, and good things. My life is already stressful, and I deal with enough garbage, so I really don't want any to sneak up on me in shows (I went into Geass blind, but initially though hey! This guy's always winning, there's rollerblading mechs, and there's the funny school side to it, cool!) .

Anyone have recommendations? I also enjoyed the recent Idolmaster #8 episode because it was outrageously silly. Sorry if this isn't the right spot for this kind of question but I'm not really a part of any anime communities.

So light hearted and comedy. Think these might have been mentioned already, but SoraNoWoto from last year and Nichijou(My Ordinary Life) from this year, fit the bill. Both are available on Crunchyroll too.

That's exactly it - those of us who don't speak the lingo are stuck with the six or so episodes out so far.
True. It's too bad it hasn't been picked up for an official release here either, hopefully it does eventually get one.

Sora no Woto is great, one of the best shows of the last few years, but certainly isn't lighthearted or all comedy... certain episodes are, but the show as a whole definitely is not. The show has a very serious side too. That's good though, that's part of what makes it great...

Nichijou, though, is a very good suggestion.

The half-baked explanation was that the
bells they are carrying protect them from the Elder Bairns. Of course you don't get an explanation as to why though. Maybe they're in on it too, but it didn't seem that way just by going what was presented in the last episode.
Yeah, that "explanation" really didn't make much sense... and as I said, I remain completely confused about the status, and the humanity, of the "extras". What the heck, that explanation about them made no sense when you think about it for more than a few seconds.

Yeah, my only hope for the whole situation actually making any sense at all would be that the "main cast", or at least that part of the main cast, haven't been told the whole truth either -- which does seem to be the case, given their reactions to some things in that episode.

Attraction

So interesting. Attraction is an interactive Studio4c short directed by Koji Morimoto, and accompanied by a super fabulous Danger composed OST.

It's not long at all, and can be set to play in japanese with english subtitles. I won't say anymore than I already have as it easily spoiled.

You can, and everyone should, view it here:

Super cool stuff.

Predictable is one of the last words I would use to describe this episode of Penguin Drum.

The episode yes it's the last word I would use,
Shouma mucking things up between Ringo and Tabuki again (without actually being there)
no.

I can't believe no one has gif'd Shouma getting
his ass kicked by Ringo

Surely the fact that you put it in a spoiler tag means it's too early to post a gif of it. ;)

So does this thread end when Blood-C and Hanasaku are done?

Oh and I guess
Mayo Chiki
I have no idea what's going to happen in the last episode of Mayo Chiki.
I thought people were dumb when they said that, but actually watching it, I have no idea what they're going to do with a 13th episode, especially given that preview.

It should just be over.
