Sunset Overdrive ARG - DetectiveGAF required!

Going back to the @ page for those that are interested.

I know nothing about code but I've skimmed the code anyway.

It appears in the code that on the correct submission of the code, the webiste will kick open a new window. The URL for the new window appears to be made up of it's own location (i.e. the website) and a "submit.php". I presume the "Submit.php" is hidden but does anyone understand how this might work?

=)

Yea, so how it works is that when you submit your code (the 7 '@' symbols you click), it sends a request to an AJAX script that is run on server side. That script either returns "OK" or "rejected". If it is "rejected", it just calls the function to blink the *** symbols. If it is "OK", it redirects to a different webpage, which is stored in e["url"] (A return from the AJAX script).

I've set a breakpoint in the code and made the variable set to "OK" to get the redirect, but the URL isn't correct, so it goes nowhere. No idea what the script is doing on server side, but it is definitely checking your code in some manner.

We have so many random codes and pieces of info with little indication of what they do.

Haha same. I think the thing to remember is.. some information should be ignored entirely. Anything found from things like the CCTV page, the Fashion page etc shouldn't be considered for the @ page. Because all of that stuff in the ARG timeline is a lot further down.

It's arrived !!!

Thanks.

The cached version (google) of the website is arranged differently to the live version but I dont see that they've dropped the ball and submitted the URL in there unfortunately.

haha I'm laughing way too much, that's awesome. I honestly believe that dave was ready to delve into that picture thinking it was a stealth clue dropped in by Insomniac to solve the @ puzzle.

The bald dude with the white beard looks so out of place on that cover. Definitely a clue.

this is the OT......

....

for the ARG...

So this is the ARG OT. An 'argot' is "a secret language used by various groups to prevent outsiders from understanding their conversations". That means if we convert this entire thread into ASCII, then convert that into binary and run it through the tree traversal, we'll get the solution to the @ page which will reveal the meaning of life... it all makes sense now.

Sorry, I can't read this right now. I'm too busy running the Plushy Fizzie picture through photoshop to find hidden layers.

Help me

I wish those who created the @ page would at least tell us the purpose the page was for and how to solve it after November 17th. Unless they are contractually obligated not to do so.

I wish....

It may be that the phrase GMT in the source code was just to remind us that the hours of the day would need to be converted across other sites.

Odd that it polls another site to check the codes if that's the case but hey, it might just be a dead end.

It's not a dead end, keep looking

Hmm... What do you know?!?

Damnit i check my email every hour waiting for an email about winning a prize from the ARG.

I doubt we'll hear anything for a week or two. Just keep an eye on this thread, someone will definitely post about it when it happens :)

Anyone made anymore attempts at the @ page?

Not really knowledgeable about Tree traversals, but is it possible to construct a tree with 64 nodes and using one of the orders to traverse to the first 7 @'s? This idea is considering how much this ARG used traversals in solving the websites/passwords, and there are somewhat identifiable points, eg. P1, P2..P64. Unless, of course, there are too many ways to construct a tree in which case excuse me.

Edit: Think about it like this, what if the @ page leads us to the grand prize and the form we all filled out were for the other prizes? There, how is that motivation for everyone to solving this @ page?

Other thoughts on the @ page:
There are 64 @'s on the page, 64 is the code of @ under ASCII

Thought about other possibilities with the number 64. The DNA sequences we found, there are 64 possible combinations and since this ARG loved ASCII so much, I went looking for and found a DNA decoding table.

Code:
AAA ? AAC L AAG ? AAT 3
ACA P ACC ? ACG ? ACT 2
AGA 4 AGC > AGG ? AGT B
ATA space ATC ? ATG ? ATT D
CAA M CAC / CAG : CAT Y
CCA = 	CCC - 	CCG ? 	CCT ?
CGA . CGC 8 CGG < CGT O
CTA R CTC ? CTG I CTT 1
GAA ' GAC ? GAG ! GAT ?
GCA K GCC 6 GCG 5 GCT S
GGA " GGC F GGG newline GGT X
GTA 9 GTC W GTG , GTT J
TAA E TAC G TAG A TAT 7
TCA H TCC U TCG @ TCT 0
TGA T TGC N TGG Z TGT ?
TTA Q TTC ? TTG V TTT C

With TCG being @, there are 7 TCG (between the two sequences we found) and so I replaced those TCG's with @ and...

I gave up. I realized I had gone off the edge with this @ page. I think now it's finally time for me to sit down and play Sunset Overdrive, as soon as I purchase the console.

Has anyone had an email yet?

Two people I know submitted have received them now. One was the guy who did it before me (confirmed to be first), and someone else who was a little late to it but just got an email today saying they have a hoodie on the way. So keep an eye out on your inbox over the next few days I guess folks :)

Copy of the game as well. Wonder if we were so late that the plushies are gone!

Looks like my cousin is getting himself a game! (Don't own a One)

Got an email too. Getting an xbox one controller stand. Still pretty neat I guess! Not sure what it'll look like or if it'll be a custom designed one or something. Still free, can't beat free :D

Yay - hoody for me too!

Very pleased.

===

Edit - Just reminded myself that only 10 hoodies were in the prize pool. I wonder where I came in the list of winners - looking at the prize pool I think maybe between 30 and 70 depending on whether the game is valued higher than the hoodie.
