Sunset Overdrive is $16.67 on Amazon, buy it

I utterly agree with OP's praise of SO. The one...no, let's make that two qualifiers I would add/append are these:

1.) Assume the game doesn't begin until you get the air-dash. This is as integral as jumping would be to Mario, in my mind.

2.) The game's tone is a complete success, and it's no small part of it. If you think it's too cringe-worthy, which you may, it's my opinion you're having the same reaction someone who likes alternative music who doesn't enjoy grunge or rap would to stand-outs in those genres. Give it a chance. That's no guarantee on its own.

Got it for $7 quite a few months back from Bestbuy (Thanks GCU.) It can go lower than $17.

But seriously its a fun game especially for under $20

Man, I'm tempted to pick it up again. I just really wish it had a new game + option, or a way to start up a new game without deleting your first character. I know you can go back and pick missions to do over, but it's not the same as actually progressing through the game.

Dude I so agree! I couldn't believe it when it wouldn't let me do that... So I haven't picked it up since

The game is a blast, but it's got a really awful sense of humor at times.

"Man, collecting crates sure is lazy game design!"

collects crates

It's not funny if you criticize something, and then still do it. Why do people not get this?

The times the game makes that sort of callout, then briefly makes you do the thing, then utterly shatters that activity by giving you an ability/event to circumvent it is worth pointing out.

My favorite game of the generation by far and the most enjoyable open world-game I've played yet. My favorite boss fights in about a decade.

It's right up there with Up Your Arsenal and A Crack in Time, better even.

Buy it.

Agreed.

I already own it. Bought it day one and don't regret it. Absolutely fantastic game and well worth full price I thought so would definitely recommend it at this price! Great game.

Good old Sunset Overdrive

Buy it. It has the best gameplay I have seen from a game in sometime. The combos with the amazing weapon variety and pretty graphics is superb.

It's been the most fun I've had with a game, this gen so far.

The only niggle I have is with the soundtrack - there just wasn't enough cool tunes to be bouncing about that crazy colourful world too and if that's the only negative I have then it's a pretty great fucking game.

So yeah, if you have an Xbox buy it if you haven't already.

In-game, I thought the soundtrack (and the unexpected musical guest) were really good, but I admit, listening to the soundtrack as background tunes during workouts or whatever, the music does have a sort of samey feel after a few listens.

Personally tied with Splatoon for best new IP this generation. Super good, if plagued by by-the-numbers mission design.

Fun game but the humour sucks.

Maybe it's because I live in the UK, am biased as a result and prefer Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Fun game and fun weapons
Nice open world

Soso story, writing and tower defense mechanic

Very solid game for fun factor, had a blast for about 10 hours for the 30bucks I got it for.

But I don't have an XBox One. =/

I do wanna play it real bad though.

I going to buy a PS4 for 1 game, Dream, I really want to play it and a PC port so far might not happen. I can tell you seriously Sunset looks like a once in a gen thing thing, that is just perfect. The humor what every is against-is hilarious.

That's a steal. The game is great.

Please play it if you haven't and get the chance, because it's a lot of fun and I'd hate to see it enter forgotten territory. The DLC is also good.

I really want a sequel.

This is one of those threads that will get some buyers really upset. "Game of the generation"... really? I wonder why many people called the Resistance series irrelevant last gen? That was a suprisingly good shooter, and I have always been an Insomniac fan. Maybe because it was on the wrong console, I don't know. Also I love open world games, the videos I saw from Sunset before bying it looked amazing, the city looked like fun...etc. And then I got the game.

Although the traversal system is really neat (for a little while), the town feels as "empty" as the original Saints Row. And I've said this before: the story was most definitely written with crayons. I love collectibles and had zero interest to look for stuff in Sunset. Love the idea, hate the execution.

Many reasons to buy an Xbox One if you loved the 360, but Sunset is most definitely not one of them. Try it out if you really want to, but don't be surprised if "game of the generation" doesn't show up.

I'm currently playing and it's a cool game except for its humor which is not my thing, might want to double dip and get a physical copy with that price.

I really wanna get an xbox one just for this game but last time I was on the fence Gears of War and Killer Instinct got announced for PC :/
