Sunset Overdrive Q&A live now.

I don't understand why a company would publish and promote a game they do not own. Oh cool, we spent all this money advertising this game and made it a success just to have EA or Ubi come in and publish the game on other platforms later on.

Why do you care? Mass Effect helped the Xbox 360, it didn't hurt it. Most sales are also front-loaded. So when you have a game like Bioshock come out on the Xbox 360 it sells millions of copies, then a year later it sells less than a million on the PS3. They get revenue for each game sold don't they? It also aligns the ip with the console. You create an identity with the brand. Some people probably still refuse to play Metal Gear Solid on anything but a Playstation system, they identify that franchise with the Playstation.

Has this happened with any other game aside from Mass Effect?

He is right though. Their track record these past few years were completely disappointing

Outside of R&C, they've only focused on two IPs lately. So if we're really looking at their past efforts, this game already sounds more interesting than the Resistance titles and Fuse... let alone your run-of-the-mill 3rd person shooter.

Speaking of, I think sony still got owned even when they have the IP. Demon's Souls was very awesome, they played promoting it outside of Japan too cautiously thinking it wouldn't do well (I suppose), then a title change allowed Namco to swoop it right up and sell it on multiplatforms. At least PS3 fans could play it, and I don't really think it hurt Sony's feelings that much other than teaching them a lesson in publishing games worldwide when it seem like there's demand. Demon's Souls don't seem like a crazy out there title that can only do good in Japan, even if it was it could still have a chance at doing good. Katamari Damacy was some of the craziest games I ever played, and it was awesome. Good thing PS3 didn't force region locking.

The only question I have is: will single player completely suck since it's a co-op focused game? I bought FUSE for my 360 and the single player mode was complete and utter shit. AI was horrid and made the game horrible for me. Multiplayer was the saving grace but the friend that bought the game with me ended up trading it once we got halfway into the game because she thought it was complete garbage.

Did they give any indication how far out this title is? I see that it's not a launch title (obviously) but do they have a target yet? It sounds rather early in development.

they didn't sat its coop, they just mentioned that it has multiplayer and single player.
So is this game an online fps? I've read it was third person on another site
its 3rd person and its not just online.

Thanks TOO.

On the game, how is progression being handled? What will keep players playing the game? Is there an end goal? Co-Operative end goal from everyone playing?
Right now the art style, promise of more Insomniac weapons, flair, and movement mechanics seem like a great basework, but I'm wondering where the game part comes in!

sometimes you can create a good working releationship and end up getting more exclusives for less work.

For example Sunset over drive 2 may come to the xbox one shortly after sunset over drive comes to the ps4. Or the sequel could be a timed exclusive on the xbox one vs the ps4.

Also if the developer has a good experience we could see more exclusive / timed for that platform from the company

looking forward to this...

that said I will never understand why people who don't care about a game feel the need to come in and tell everybody.. "nope not me"

wtf.. :lol why would we even give a fuck if you never buy it... people who will buy it will appreciate it that's all that matters people that won't and need to tell people, kind of sad

this game looks like it has great potential to be appreciated. As has been said it has that Crackdown, unique 2nd gen game vibe but with the connected world and feedback in fast updating could be special

It sound like it could be presentable but they may be planning for holiday next year. There are no teases of people playing it with the screen/tv out of the frame like with FUSE, so maybe at the worst early 2015.

hmm, something happening soon? maybe?
