Yeah I played with a friend a while back and I only knew the rules from the anime's 1st season (which was all wrong or balanced for lean at this point). So actually playing took a while, but it was alot of fun once we actually knew what to do.
I still have no idea about all the new stuff though

No, there were bullshit cards that allowed them to turn it around, but they were general cards, these are cards for the exact cards that are on the field that allow those exact specific cards to one single thing that would be useless in every other context except for the one incredibly specific situation they happen to be in now.

I used to be DEEP into the Yu-Gi-Oh GBA games. It's not as complex as MtG by a long shot, but it still has a lot of strategy that at least feels somewhat rewarding.
I picked up Card Wars this week, though. The real-life version of the Adventure Time MtG parody. It seems like a simpler version of MtG, and I only have prefab Finn and Jake decks, but the art's great and everything's straight from the show. Except for the holograms. But I can floop the pig!

I don't remember. Everything past the first big tournament is a blur. I remember a lot of hocus pocus egyptian magic though.

I think at one point Yugi's all like "I can only win with this card, and if I don't get it in the next turn, I'll lose!" And then he gets it the next turn, so I can see this happening.

Oh shit, I just remembered all the bullshit that happened in the Pegasus duel like how Yugi and Yami had to continually switch places. Then they somehow knew what the cards they placed were. Shit was so dumb.

Haha I was trying to remember the specifics, but yeah, they somehow switched between eachother fast enough so that Pegasus couldn't read their minds.
You have to admit though, it was hype seeing them trust eachother so much on this life and death battle. True shonen courage and love!
