So I decided to try Dragon's Dogma after what Pat said about it, and it's pretty cool so far, but why the hell is it that my pawns do so much more damage than me? Last time I played, I found a cyclops walking around on the road, so I jump up onto its back and start chipping away at its health with my mace, only for my two mage pawns to cast lightning on it and instantly take off one of its health bars. Either I'm doing something wrong or this is supposed to happen.

Good taste! Also ToS is probably the only Tales game I genuinely liked. Also changed mine to top 10 anyway, so feel free to add 5 more if you want.

Oh if we are doing top 5 in no order then, and now top 10 in no order and thanks:
MGS 3
Bayonetta
TLOU
Persona 4
Fire Emblem Awakening
Tales of Symphonia (nostalgia for this game is strong first long JRPG I ever played to completion)
Catherine
Twilight Princess
Mother 3
I can't think of a 10 one so I guess it's still up for debate.

Good taste to all of you.

Posting my Top 10 list in no order. No spoilers because whatever.

  1. Call of Duty 4
Y'know I always forget that Call of Duty 4 was actually a really good game, and it just subsequently ruined everything by being too good.

I really like how I read people's lists and go "Oh yeah I should've put that!". You guys are pretty rad.

Favorite games? Oh man, oh geez, ok. Off the top of my head:
Metal Gear Solid
Resident Evil 4
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Team Fortress 2
Dark Souls
Oblivion

Well been a while since I played it (considered adding it to the list) but can the other pawns be stronger than you cause if so they might just be a higher level. If not then it could just be that they are magic or the weapon you are using is not that good. If your own pawn is stronger than you something is off then since they usually level up at the exact same time you do.

I made sure that all of my pawns are about the same level as I am, and I'm using the best weapon that's currently available to me (the Obliteratrix).

Guess I have to come up with my list too right? OH MAN OH GEEZ

In no order:
Earthbound
Chrono Trigger
FF 6
FF 7
FF 8
Yoshi's Island
Spider-man (PS1)
Shadow of the Colossus
MGS2
RE4
Half-Life
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Castlevania: SOTN

I played so much Cod 4 It's not even funny. I could do terrible in that game and still have fun just cause it was good. Then everything changed. I liked MW2 only when I used the sniper shotguns or when I was booster hunting. Then black ops and after that I was out haven't picked one up since

hmm magic might just be better than, or it's hitting the enemies weakness a lot. Also I think some spells do multiple hits, or take so long to cast that it makes the game a lot easier having a mage pawn.

Yoshi's Island
Spider-man (PS1)
Half-Life
Edit: Thank you! I saw your post just now. Great taste as well!
Edit: reading through the new posts, you guys have some super fucking good taste!

^_^ Man you guys are all awesome, geez.

Oh me too. I lasted until 120 hours into Black Ops. Then I puked and died *hyperbole* and only played Zombies from that moment forward.

Zombies mode is and has been the shit, and I will fight you. Haven't touched the newest one though.

This is basically what happened to me. I played a shit ton of CoD 4 and got up to 10th prestige. Skipped WaW and went straight MW2 which was a fun game but had way too much bullshit in it. I picked up Blops after and played that for a bit, but it was pretty fucking boring. That's where I my CoD history ends. Haven't played a CoD game since.

I won't argue that Zombies mode is fun, I just always had terrible teammates for it and no one around to play the game with (god I sound sad). So it hampered my experience with it so I played solo and realized wow I can do so much better like this.

since TLOU was mentioned this interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_c555Jrg-8 is another reason I like the game that's not even related to the game. I like finding out that the actors had a good chemistry with each other for some reason I don't know maybe I'm weird.

Yeah MW2 is the most unbalanced Cod ever (that I played) but that's sadly what made it fun and terrible at the same time. Then black ops comes out and things are balanced a lot more but it felt so uninspired and is the start of the COD downfall. I remember when the first MW3 video was uploaded and I looked at it and thought I was watching MW2 again.

Fuck it, I'll make an additional top 10 list because there are just that many games I love the shit out of.

  • Digital Devil Saga 1
  • Digital Devil Saga 2
  • F.E.A.R.
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
  • NieR
  • Persona 3 FES
  • Ikaruga
  • Quake
  • Devil May Cry 3
  • Thief II: The Metal Age

I forgot to add:

Xenogears

You guys wonder why I have such a man-crush on Pat, it's because of the hours of conversation I'd imagine Pat and I have trying to deconstruct that game.

Favorite games? Top fifteen then. Gettin classy up in here.

Grim Fandango
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge
The Secret of Monkey Island
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
Mother 3
Earthbound
Banjo-Tooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Clock Tower: The First Fear
Alone in the Dark: The Original
Paper Mario
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

Also, does moving to the next stage of the main quest completely cancel all of my currently available side quests? I don't want to have to go and do all of these "collect/kill x amount of y" all at once.

My Man. Spider-Man PS1 IS SO FUCKING. GOOD. UGH.

^_^ Man you guys are all awesome, geez.

^_^ *blushes*

I really like CoD4 and I LOVED Blops, only because the setting(Vietnam and Cold War) is historically interesting to me.

I had my fair share of Zombies but goddamn if it didn't feel so boring after a while.

ALSO FUCKING SUPER MARIO RPG IS THE HYPEST SHIT!

I had a cousin who had Diddy Kong racing and knew about Conker but not this game. So when I showed him this game he lost his mind and got so mad (he was somewhat joking though). He then put in Diddy Kong and I just picked Conker every race just to mess with him.

I didn't have a good time during the Microsoft E3 Press Conference. I would lose my mind if the best friends played Conker or Paper Mario or any of the games on my list. [Except Zelda]

MAH MAN!

I think since the Zaibatsu now have a website, there's no issues of copyright from Nintendo and now we can see some Nintendo stuff, including a Matt and Woolie production of Paper Mario.

Yeesh we're adding even more to our lists

Ocarina of Time
Fire Emblem 3
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 :>
Super Mario Galaxy/ Sunshine
MGS3
Paper Mario TTYD

I don't think it should for all of them but some of them I know it does so I would do the side quest first. There is also one quest that you need the ladies dress for if you are playing as a guy.

That was the thing that angered me the most I really expected a new Conker then I get a ...it's me Dio (project Spark) moment.

Nobody likes Xenoblade

Screw you guys

If you mean Xenoblade Chronicles that game is impossible to find in Arkansas, plus I am watching Chuggaaconroy do a let's play of it so I'll form an opinion based on that (I'll keep in mind that I'm not the one playing it though so it'll mainly be story I judge it on) but I like what I have seen of it so far.

Finally someone else that likes Super Mario Sunshine.

It's not in my personal top 10 but I love the game, I still don't understand why it's hated by some people (I understand the dislike but not the outright hate)

Nobody likes Xenoblade
Screw you guys

I'm biased I like Xenogears, then Chronicles, then XenoSaga

Everyone saying Yoshi's Island gets my eternal affection. (If you want it, idk.) And I feel like shit that I knocked Paper Mario/Super Mario RPG off my list.
I need to play all the Xeno games still! I'm only like 5 hours into Xenogears.

You got some shit about to get dropped. How far along in that 5 hrs are you?

I like Super Mario Sunshine, but my favorite part of the game was racing Shadow Mario, more than the actual levels.

Nobody likes Xenoblade

Screw you guys

I always wanted to play it, but could never find a copy when I had the money.

I'd die happy if the Best Friends played any of the Lucasarts games, especially Grim Fandango or Monkey Island, as well, but they'd NEED walkthroughs handy or it might get frustrating fast. Something tells me Woolie at least would know how to get through them.

Indeed, I was really surprised when I found out Sunshine gets a lot of hate on the internet. It was my first console game, and it was magical.

I only saw what the Grumps covered in their play-through of Sunshine.

I like it now then I would've as widdle Doktor Jr. age. Maturity does things to you.

I never played it because I never owned a Wii. Now it's insanely expensive and hard to find and it probably requires a Wii mote or a Wii pro controller, both of which I don't have.

I got a small version of the art book in the Ellie Edition (for which I traveled half the country to get), but bought the bigger version later and it's really great! Bought the comics too, but those...well...they're definitely not bad, but they just don't contain a lot of content.

There's a small version too dang it. Wasn't sure about the comics may check them out.

I love looking at concept art for characters and what the initial design was. Like Joel's initial design being way more villainous than it should have been not to mention looking at different ideas for the infected.

We doin' favorite games?
1.
Resident Evil - PSone
2.
Persona 4 - PS2
3.
Majora's Mask - N64
4.
FF7 - PSone
5.
The World Ends With You - DS

I don't really think of stuff after 5 and those are just the games off the top of my head, so I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple big ones.

I'd love to see a Pat and Woolie Grim Fandango Play-though

Only 3D Mario game I liked was Galaxy, and the recent 3D World.

Not far at all. I'm in a desert town(?) and lost. Was about to resort to FAQ when last I played like... a month or so ago. Got super distracted.

I really wanna pick up the remaster of Grim Fandango on Vita when I get a Vita. It's been on my backlog forever.

Well they did say they might do a let's play of Zelda Four Swords during the panel. But I would love it if they did a playthough of Paper Mario 1 and 2 because they are the shit.

Bledavik?

Have you been upgrading your Gears regularly as well? This is vital to making sure your Gears can handle the upcoming bosses.

Anything 4 player for them works. 4 swords would be a complete debacle to watch. And I'd love every minute.
