It's satisfying as all hell.
It makes Havel trivial.
It makes the Black Knights trivial.
It makes every humanoid enemy with poise trivial.
It makes the final boss trivial.

Parrying is the best. You should still learn to roll too.

But most importantly, fuck shields.
I have agreed with you on just about everything you've said regarding the souls series EXCEPT this. This may cause some issues.

Pat, you do know that Ennio Morricone is the brilliant composer of not just songs in MGS4 and Ground Zeroes but also The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, The Thing, The Untouchables, The Mission, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, a song in Django Unchained, and MORE, right?

You do realize it's a big deal that this guy wrote music for a video game....RIGHT?

RIGHT? [voice squeaks]

What?

Fuck shields? Why? They're good. They block damage and stuff.

I was going to import Yakuza Ishin as it was on sale for £34 quid. Ended up crashing and went back up to £48 ;_; Then I remember I'll no doubt be able to buy it for even cheaper when I'm over in J-land in a few weeks.

Gonna have to pack light so I can fit all the games and J-oddities in my case.

hyeeeeppeee.

So adorable.

Does this new Ms. Marvel still have her own series?

It bothers me that people see Ennio Morricone's name in MGS credits and say "Oh, hey they got some foreign guy to make music for the game. Whatever." not "Oh wow! It's Ennio Morricone! One of the greatest film composers of all time, maybe even greater than John Williams! And he's made music for MY GAMES!"

I'm not MAD. I'm just educating people. Because Morricone is a god.

People care as much about when people talk about composers as when I complain about plot consistency in Marvel movies.

Don't worry dude, I know what you mean. But he didn't really make music for it, they're just using one of his songs.

Pat do you legit have a problem with British people?

Kind of always wondered that, guv'nor

What? No, of course not. The brits are like our cousins, up here in Canada. Friendly and all that, but we ruthlessly mock their goofy accents. Same with the Aussies and the Irish etc.

Is this some kind of weird double bluff troll I should feel stupid for not getting. I imagine most people were aware of Morricone before MGS V. Once Upon a Time in America in particular had a brilliant soundtrack. Probably no John Williams though.

Sweet. I wish I had that goofy accent. :(

Curiosity satiated. Keep up the good work n ting.

DO they? I'm only familiar with people on internet forums knowing him. Maybe I'm out of touch.

As Principal Skinner would say, "No. It is the children who are wrong."

Throwing my two cents in...after doing a melee run first and then a sorcery run I will say the sorcery run was no where near as fun to me. It was much more satisfying having to deal with the actual anticipation of waiting for an attack to dodge at the right time to get a few hits in. With my caster run I really could just sit back and spam a spell or two run away and repeat the sense of danger was gone for the most part.

My first unfinished playthrough of Demon's Souls ended because I wasn't having fun. I went into Dark Souls, and believing that it was going to be different. It wasn't, but I figured out why.

Shields removed nearly every single threat from combat. You would block an attack, and then you would attack back. Pretty easy. No problems. Then, when you run into an opponent you can't block, and whoa, problems.

Just roll. There is only one shield in the entire series I would bother equipping, and that's the Grass Crest Shield, for that stamina regen.

You can roll through every single attack. You can completely avoided being locked down by O and S with some well timed rolls. Sif can no longer hurt you. The Four Kings are a joke, even if you don't use poise. You can roll through everything Manus throws at you. Kalameet steppy stomps no long stop you.

Without shields, tension returns to melee. Mistakes turn to death. Every enemy you can't kill in one hit is a threat. It's fun. It adds an element of strategy to every encounter.

So fuck shields. They are a crutch, and I'm glad Bloodborne is getting away from them.

Hopefully in Bloodborne, From finds a way to make sorcery builds have that same dangerous, yet satisfying feeling that you get from using a melee build.

Surely this advice is poison for newcomers to the series. Shields are essential. ESPECIALLY if you're using a low HP build. One unshielded hit and bam you're done. And getting hit will happen. Dodging or not.I barely use my shield but I need it there like my safety blankie,

Git gud tho.

You know, those characters that take the mantle from those old guard superheroes for a while and then they give them back after fanboys rage over said old guard superhero getting replaced.

Like all those Capt Americas or Batmans over the years.

Kamala only replaced Carol Danvers because Carol became the new Captain Marvel, though. It's not like Carol died or anything. She's still around, just under a different superhero persona. So in this case I don't see a lot of fans going nuts or anything.

God of War kinda sucks. The friends are right too. Kratos is a dickhead and I don't care if he gets redeemed or not.
I will forever refuse to play those games because of how hard they fucked up on properly portraying Greek Mythology. Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology is so cool when done properly, instead we get...that.

I think the difference being a character like Ms. Marvel/ Captain Marvel doesn't have a ravenous army of crazy fanboys who can't handle change.

I will after my first playthrough :D

Also, Pat has his Scotland stereotypes all wrong. Its heroine and deep fried Mars bars.

Can't win em all. Someone messaged me on tumblr that the reason australians call each other mate is because it's short for inmate. I don't give a damn fuck if it's true, that shit is hilarious and the next time australia comes up, it's going in.

Plus there wasn't a Ms. Marvel at all from 2012 until this year when Kamala took over the mantle. So really she's not replacing anyone.

Also, god, her name being Kamala is super weird to me as a wrestling fan. :lol

I can honestly say that I love the idea and conception of Dark Soul series, but damn for a person that play lots of shoot bangs and
sports games
, getting in this game is such a headache. I literally died 25 times in the first area in Dark Souls 2. I wish i could git gud

Speaking of Norse mythology, I just started Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and its pretty cool. Kudos to people who've actually played that game. And ironically, the composer is the same as the one who did the OST for Dark Souls 1 and 2.
