Real Talk about Naruto.
I actually Liked part 1 of the series, it may have been childish and kind of cheesy, but I actually like the message it was trying to portray (You can do anything and be anything as long as you work hard,) A message that is often used throughout the story being attached to different things and people. They gave characters development, even the side ones and everything had a somewhat more natural flow to it.
I think Part 2 is when the series really messed the bed, it destroys the original theme, by making anyone who can do anything super special blood line. And in retrospect's, you find out Neji was right all along.
Everyone is just kind of there now, I will say Part 2 had its moments, but over all it became a parody of itself.

Real raw dog Naruto talk: Naruto OG is fucking weak and lame, people have nostalgia for it, but it's just a super standard shonen with nothing going on aside from some fantastic openings and cool setup. Shippuden isn't good at all and fumbles in the payoff of almost all of that setup, but at least things actually happen and there are some cool fights.
Everything before and after the Chunin exam in OG Naruto sucks in my opinion.

A friend made me watch a dozen something episodes of Naruto just last year since he loved it. It was pretty fucking lame. Especially cause I was finishing marathoning 20 years of Jojo at the same time.
When you big climatic battle is having readers wonder when it will end rather than being excited for it, then you have problems.
Why are so many villains and plot points being introduced right at the climax of the story?
It just really irritates me, because I was actually excited for Part 2, but every Arc it gets worse and worse, hell Part 2 didn't even start off bad, but damn was it a noise dive.

OG Naruto is pretty much objectively higher quality in terms of story and character, but it's so standard and nothing has any consequence. As where Ship is lower quality but has the benefit of things happening.
I went back with a friend to watch OG Naruto awhile back and it was just too slow with too little going on for too long. People just remember the Chunin exam, forgetting the several arcs leading into it and the boring shit afterwards. Sasuke Retrieval was alright, but the rest was just boring.
