I'd love to read your guys' fanfics and give some notes, however useless they might be. And given the things I've said in this thread, there's hardly any reason to feel the fear of me judging you.

Hey you losers, how do I get into playing the silent hill franchise? I kind of want to just get a PSONE emulator and play the Rom of SH1 then go from there

Playing sequentially is the best route, though it's hard for a lot of people to go back to the first one, especially if they never played it or any other survival horror games from that time period.

But seriously oh jesus, this is best possible thing for Silent Hill. Like how and wow.

WOW.

Though I do think it'll be weird seeing Daryl, but he could pull it off.

SH 1-4, that's it. Emulate 1, play the PC versions of 2 and 3 with widescreen patches, and emulate 4.

I would say play 1, 2 3 and Shattered Memories. I think that's the right list. 4 is subjective. Some like it, some hate it.

You participated in my fanfic. Have fun at Jesse Reno's grave shitlord.

I'll just PM you the link...if I can figure out how to do that.

Also, the grammar is all over the place, since I really only focus on that with my original stuff.

Isn't Silent Hill available on PSN? Just buy it there.

Stay away from the HD Collection. Play SH2&3 on PS2 or Xbox. Or emulate them. Or get the PC version of SH2.

How are the emulated versions of 2/3? I've been meaning to replay them but I don't have any way to play PS2 games right now and I have these emulators right here.

I'm shit with grammar too, but cool, I'll read it when I get a chance!

I ain't linking shit, but if you are truly interested, I'll send you a PM.

Note, my writing style is completely different from two years ago, so stay aware.

OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Holy fucking shit KOJIMA AND DEL TORO WORKING TOGETHER?! ON SILENT HILL?!

I'm losing it man I'm fucking shaking!

This will either be legendarily good or incredibly bad.

Meh, it's only 100K words so far, and it takes me a month to update a single chapter. (5000 word a piece) I would link it, but then I would die of embarrassment.

Don't be hard on yourself! Part of writing is believing in your material, believe in your ability.

Your characters and worlds are a natural extension of yourself and your ideas, don't write for others, write for yourself and believe in your material.

I BELIEVE IN YOU!

They're great last time I checked. Pcsx2 lets you widescreen 'em, which means they're literally better than the HD remasters in every way.

I'll keep all of it in mind.

And not to say you're lying or anything like that, but I always find it funny that whenever someone shows someone else their writing they try to give pre-read Johns. I do it too, since you can't help but know they're going to hate it!

I love talking about novels!

I'm writing a novel as well, it's about 30-40k right now, it's basically kind of like Bladerunner+Alien+The Thing mixed with a bit of existentialism.

It's a lovecraftian cyberpunk detective horror story, it's kind of about how our past comes back to haunt us and no matter how hard we run sometimes we are our own worst enemy, even when fate conspires against you. A downtrodden, haunted, grizzled detective is brought back onto the force after a high profile murderer that supposedly died comes back to kill again, this time with unheard of savagery and strangely ritualistic overtones. Given his history and failings with this killer, the Head of the Metropolitan Galactic Police brings this dishonored Officer back into the fold to amend for his past sins and solve the case.

But he gets more than he bargained for, because in the high tech criminal high rise of Delferno, nothing is as it seems and the road to redemption is a long and tragic one filled with darkness.

Can he stop a killer who is supposed to be dead? And why is this killer targeting the rich? What is his game?

The road to redemption is paved through hell.

The Tartarus Syndrome, Coming 2015.
or whenever I finish it. :P

Man that sounds dark. Also, what an amazing hook!

I'll keep all of it in mind.

Yea, and then the first comment is "Oh man, that's so good, can't wait for the rest of it !"

Dark Souls 2 talk: Pat, when you said "In some places, the enemy's - quote-unquote, "enemy's" - plan is to knock you off the edge" you didn't need the quote-unquote. You were actually more profoundly correct than you realized, and it may be the lesson Woolie needs to learn:

In Dark Souls, the game designer is your enemy.

To play the true Dark Souls, you don't think, "How can I defeat this enemy?" you think, "How can I defeat the fucking jackass who put this ridiculous bullshit scenario together and is somewhere laughing at me right now while jerking off to my suffering?"

Now I feel grossly inept, thanks!

It's less Johns and more wait to judge. Honestly, if I gave a shit about my writing, I would rewrite a lot of junk, but I just don't care. One of the reasons why I don't try and get published : I'm unmotivated.

But I'll send you a link.

SInce you guys are talking about writing. I have tried to write stories but I always get stuck and discourage myself from finishing them. Or something comes out that similar. I probably have at least 6 unfinished stories. I do plan to do some writing and actually trying to finish something since I want to make a graphic novel one day...or a web comic at the least.

on the inept part :p

When the first trailer for Elysium came out, I was like "WTF, this shit is way too similar to my story ! Fuck it I suppose." But then I realise that I could have finished writing my story, given that it was already divided up into chapters and all that, that way I could at least learn how to write correctly.
In the end, it's just gathering dust in my folders :/

I feel like this will be it, the true return to Silent Hill.

I almost said that P.T was the most atmospheric horror game since Silent Hill 4, but I didn't want to seem over-the-top.

My hype can't be contained.

And cool, I'll probably read yours and his tomorrow!

Only 6? Git gud at not finishing things, I have like a few hundred started and unfinished stories.

Damn, that seems rad. Would love to read it.

You know what Aaron, I'm going to PM you right now!

(Still hesitates in fear,) I'm sure you have nothing better to do... (I know you do)

Serious suggestion, I had the problem of not easily making friends when I first went into college, and I quickly forced myself to learn. The easiest way is to just start talking to whoever is next to you. I know that's the most basic school friendship shit, but it's the easiest way and someone has to make that first step. I usually just outright say that we're going to be stuck next to each other for awhile and that we might as well talk.

I did that a few years ago at a black friday line and met a really cool guy.
Aaron, you always come through with the real serious helpful shit when we need it. I had a coworker does this exact thing to me last year and he turned out to be one of my best friends who got me back into playing music.

I'm actually not as awkward as I used to be. I talk to people in class and try to be nice. Like I said earlier they ignore me sometimes though.
The year was mainly bad for 2 reasons. My Gf broke up with me (she is still my best friend though and the one I sent the saddest candy in the world to), and my supposed best friend pretty much dropped out and then lied about going there for no reason so I don't talk to him.

Things got better this summer thanks to you frienders, and the Zaibatsu...man that Nuzlocke stream cheered me up a ton.

Figured you guys should know this any way not making this a sob story though since things are better now XD...well a bit.
the Zaibatsu and the Frienders here have helped me as well. its great to have a place to come and hang out with a group of like minded nerds.

Lol for me it was writing a story about plants infected people and making them into zombie like creatures...and then The Last of Us got announced never went back to it.

Writing's not my main concern so it wasn't a lot but man have I made up a decent amount of characters for different stories.

Yeah it's great to have these guys to talk to!!!

Wow what the fuck is up with that stream, I saw the baby thing in the sink and I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE.

God, I want to read that shit!

Man that sounds dark. Also, what an amazing hook!

Yea, and then the first comment is "Oh man, that's so good, can't wait for the rest of it !"

Wow thanks guys, I didn't think it sounded that interesting, but at the end of the day don't give up on your writing guys! Believe in your material, if you don't like it rewrite it until it fits what you want!

It is a really dark novel, and by the end it ends up in really lovecraftian territory.

It was all inspired from a combination of nightmares, life problems, and my love of science fiction and Howard Phillips Lovecraft and a desire to see a lovecraftian story set in a Dystopian Bladerunner/Akira/Neotokyo kind of future with a more character based focus.

It all comes back to the notion that nothing is original anymore. Like people saying that the Last of Us is ripping off The Road for example. It's gotten hard finding an unexplored theme or subject mather to write about, but the upside to that is that you can create whatever you want with it and make it your own.

Yeah, that's why I am less worried about running into cliche's and am now trying to improve them or at least make them feel natural.

Listening to the podcast and when they're talking about REmake REmaster they say how they missed it by a minute and now they're missing all this news from today. Funny to me.

True the manga im writing involves a world where people have different powers ranging from ridiculous to over powered, and then I read Jojo.
however I still wanna write this story cause its different in that the protagonist doesn't have a power and just uses his own strength to fight. Also it involves the lance of loginus creating 24 different weapons each becoming a legendary weapon (ex. Masamune, miljonir, excalibur)

Nothing is original, so now the only way to be original is to be the first to ripoff several things at once. Let's ripoff Gurren Lagann but mix it with Kamen Rider and set it in Ancient Egypt.

There I sent it, no going back now, this almost as bad as the time Neogaf was down...I remember like it was 3 hours ago.

Now to make you wait forever until I read it! Your nerves will kill you, it's all part of my plan!

Welp. A Del Toro X Kojima Silent Hill game is hype enough in concept alone that I now want to play Silent Hill. I'm a big baby like Vita-senpai so I never played any horror games before. General gist I got was play 1-3 and Shattered Memories? I think I might grab SH1 off PSN and see if the franchise is for me, or see if I'll be a big baby in the corner.
I haven't actually watched any of the Silent Hill playthroughs in the channel because I never cared before, I heard they were pretty good. Guess after I finish the games I'll have a reason to watch them.
Where should I watch these videos?

Wait, why is this a good thing for Silent Hill? Is it because the franchise can't get any lower than this? I like both Kojima and Del Toro, but I don't see how this means that this will be a terrifying, amazing Silent Hill game because of it.

I think it's mainly that those guys have a good track record and have experience with similar types of stories, so it has a better chance off the bat at being at least alright than SH has had in a long-ass time.
