Yeah, but I'm always weary of anything that paints an extreme picture, especially an extreme picture that directly tells the audience exactly what they want to hear and then some.

"Burn to the ground" and continue making MGS games might not contradict each other as George believes.
Its possible that burning it to the ground means just shitting out bad MGS games after Kojima, yearly and bleeding the fanbase dry. And then dumping it off to the highest bidder in 4-5 years.
Its a horror scenario, but i dont believe Konami or this CEO of their will just put a lid on it and let it rot. They will milk it until the cow is sick and dead
As I said in the other thread; They claims are too egregious for me to believe this, or at least believe is exactly as the video claims, especially if they are they only ones able to be tipped off
Nope not really, some real petty shit goes on in Japanese companies. SQEX is pretty famous for it also. And its mainly because they know they can get away with it and there will always be replacements to fill the role.
Ive seen stuff like that before first hand. Other hilarious stuff like a disgruntled programmer trying to sabotage the main game code, then running off before the lawyers / cops could find his ass. Shit that sounds like it belongs in a movie like Office Space but nope its true.
As always bishoptl is free to contact me if he wants to verify the programmer thing.
KojiPro acted largely independent from Konami and often kept them in the dark, which really upset the execs at KJPN. One of the big blows to their relationship was the Game Informer spread for MGSV. Not only did the execs at KJPN had no knowledge that was coming out, and but they also learned details about the game from the article along with everyone else. Which of course pissed them off immensely.
This was a long time coming, unfortunately.
Anyway, this was a wonderful video. Great job, SBH.
Time for everyone to move on. Only thing left to do is decide what to do with all of the old Konami IP's.

Wow, a Youtube personality actually investigating, sending out emails and getting sources instead of repeating and making up stuff. Even if not everything turns out true, I'm honestly, non-sarcastically impressed and will sub to this guy.
Yeah, George Weidman has been my favorite gaming commentator on youtube for years. Love his channel.
I don't think they're going under since they have other businesses and assets. I'm just hoping they decide to auction off some of their stuff like all the Hudson ips.
I know it does happen no doubt.
Im just having trouble believing that those claims are happening to "hundreds of people" and Super Bunnyhop are the only ones able to obtain this level of insider information from just some email inquiries
Eh, you have outlets named Kotaku and Giant Bomb out there. It's just a question of size. He's amazing, but I wonder if the name holds him back. It's tough to take a video headed by "Super Bunnyhop" seriously.
He needs rebranding badly.

If you get a large number of pissed off folks and when something is happening to that level the chance of info getting out is a lot higher. Not that hard to imagine. Esp with a company as large as Konami and the folks on Kojima's team.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. This sounds like too much of a "tell the internet what they want to hear, only multiplied by 100" kind of thing to me. All sounds a bit fishy to me.
Parts of this are true.
Most of it is pure speculation based off the true things.
Unfortunately, all of this sounds rather believable.
It's always about money, always.I'm incredibly sad that this actually is all about money. The swift and egregious actions by Konami had me thinking Kojima slept with someone's wife or something, but no, it's just about the bottom line. Unreal.
I'm really not sure I'd agree.
Like...everything the person said is either observable (Konami retracting from the traditional console business, Konami wanting more money out of their Metal Gears -> Ground Zeroes, the "paid demo") or very plausible(the big restuctoring, Kageyama wanting his staff to quit on their own terms -> the Love Plus+ guys leaving a weak before all hell broke loose)
I mean, yes, the eMail is bitter in tone, but there really is zero farfetched or extremely "out there" information in here. Grain of salt and everything, but I wont be surprised if that really is what happened.
I had a friend who just started working at Konami a few weeks ago already hitting up every person she knows for a new job. Like, people she BARELY knows.

The amount of money would be so high that only a few players in the game industry could pay it, and I doubt none of them would put up with kojima bs.I really wish Kojima could just get a group of people/investors together and try to buy the Metal Gear IP from Konami (and maybe Silent Hill as well).

Stolen from AAMARMO
In the video he says it's an anonymous source. He said he confirmed their identity but the claims are unverified.
Has this youtuber been reliable with his anonymous sources in the past? This sounds kind of hard to believe.

I don't want to identify further. That's just going to cause more issues. But I was surprised when I saw the message on LinkedIn a few weeks back.

someone said the CEO is 75 years old
so yea
old people definately love to hold a grudge and are insane enough to do something like that article says
So the power went to one person's head? Time to call the lynch mob.
Honestly, it could boil down to a "Why spend 5 years making a AAA game when we can profit 100x on mobile games in 6 months?"
And if so, this won't be the last company to make such a drastic shift.

I do wonder though, what makes Konami to keep their gamesbusiness? Is their main business not in different markets nowadays?
So Is it not more attractive for them to sell of their ip's while they are still worth some major buck? It is not like they seem pressed to give gaming a lot of attention nor do they seem pressed to deliver quality products.
