Super Mario 3D Land - conference media

It definitely looks like a lot of fun, but I still think the speed of the game is too slow.

Also, I fear for the soundtrack as NSMB and NSMBW both had TERRIBLE soundtracks that detracted from the game. Would love to hear something on par with Mario World or Mario 3 this time around.

NSMB/W had a few stand out tracks (Main theme, of course) and I wouldn't call them terrible, but yeah, they were definitely not as good as SMW/SMB3/SMB2, etc.

^ This one in particular is fun to look at in both 2D and 3D. In 2D it's a physically impossible structure. In 3D it's secrets are revealed.

Main theme is pretty rad and uses decent samples. I'm rather optimistic.

I am definitely more hyped than I was previously. I think it looks very fresh having all kinds of style meshes. One thing I don't get with the raccoon suite is not using that flying helmet instead from Super Mario Land 2 which acts this same way.

Game looks great.

I noticed the art on the website showed a female Boom Boom. Interesting. Also the raccoon tail seems to be a prominent motif...a Bullet Bill had one too.

The reason why I'm to going to get a 3DS sooner than I thought, this November. It's totally brilliant, with lots of new gameplay mechanics and perspectives that look really fun. It's been many time (since I saw Galaxy for the first time) that I feel that everything in a Mario game is brand new. And that's totally awesome.

The only thing that makes me doubt it's it development time, I think they've finished it really fast if they started its development right after Galaxy 2, considering that it took less time thanks to being a direct sequel to the first Galaxy. I hope the short development doesn't involve lack of levels or difficulty, my main worry right now.

Looks absolutely amazing. Cannot wait.

This game really looks like a mix of the Mushroom Kingdom theme (ala Super Mario Land) instead of the galaxy craziness theme with the linearity of Galaxy. So effectively, a mix of Mario 64 and Galaxy.

You have to remember SMG2 was finished way before it released, but withheld due to NSMBWii.

One of the screens shows the Gyro Sensor, not a big deal. Also the game looks amazing, fuck the haters and the skeptical people. Seriously.

Thanks for the awesome link to the 3D screenshots from TGS. Loved them.
Seconded. I really hope this is something which becomes commonplace for 3DS games. It's nice being able to actually see how the game really looks rather than screenshots with the disclaimer "2D image of a 3D game."

Boxart is a pretty good indication that the advertising for this game could really propel sales to a new record for a mario game.

It's going to take much more than gimmicky 3D imagery to propel this game to the heights of NSMB.

SML3 + SM64 +SMG.

I think this is going to be the perfect Mario game.

Famous last words. Don't fall into hype and be disappointed!

I'm really looking forward to it but I'm afraid to get to hyped. The last most anticipated Mario game for myself was Sunshine.

Game of the Show.

Game of the Year for 3DS.

3DS's biggest title. Looks so good. Fuck all this Nintendo doom and gloom, they are pumping out such amazing titles recently.

Sweet, y completely forgot that. Now my main worry is difficulty, what I played on the E3 demo was as fun as easy... and it was fun as hell.

Mario, after 25+ years with you, you have never failed me.

I fucken love you.

I still remember the first Mario game I ever played. It was Super Mario Land 2 for the Gameboy. I finished it something like 30 times. Crazy times indeed.

Looks good, showing some variety...I was almost worried we were in store for a 3rd entry in the Galaxy series. Not that the Galaxy series isn't great, but Mario has always been the series that changed it up with nearly every entry.

Haven't they only shown levels from world 3 and lower, similar to what they did with Galaxy 2?

There's probably going to be a secret world as well, similar to NSMBWii and again Galaxy 2.

This is looking just as amazing as expected, can't wait. Nintendo's got a great 3DS lineup this holiday between this, Mario Kart, and Monster Hunter Tri G.

Truely awesome. This is the kind of puzzle I was expecting from the 3D on 3DS.
All I hope now, is that Mario 3D land will be full of suprises like this, and that it will not be lacking of development time.

I will definitely show this 2D image first, then the 3D screenshot on 3DS to some 3D sceptics around me and see if they are suprised. If so, they is still hope for 3D!

Shit, I have a problem with this one. On my laptop I have no problem in seeing the screenshots, but when I enter the site on 3DS, it seems that I land on Nintendo's main japanese site :(.

add the www., it happened to me too

Wow, seeing those screenshots on my 3DS are the first things on the system that have really made me believe that 3D can make a difference in gameplay. Can't wait to get my hands on this. My 3DS has gone from biggest disappointment to being the key to holiday bliss (if it's as good as I think it'll be).

I'm guessing that for some of those puzzles, the system will force 3D off so as not to reveal solutions until you hit a switch in-game or something like that?

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing (hence the "3D" on the HUD in those shots)
