Super Mario 64 with RTX

Quake 2 RTX is the only good raytracing patch I have seen on an old game

And I think that was the first one? Doesn't even support DLSS amazingly. If they updated it to support DLSS, it would be even more useful on lower end cards.

Portal RTX and Half Life 2 RTX seem like real winners too, even though they are disproportionately "heavy" due to being RTX Remix projects (I think is the reason).

These homebrew RTX solutions from Dario and from Sultim-T are pretty good though, and do support DLSS. Sultim's Half Life RTX, Quake 1 RTX and Serious Sam RTX are really fun to mess around with.

It's a neat experiment but I don't think it improves on how it looked on the N64 :pie_open_mouth:. Mario 64 is mostly about bright colours and it's not trying to look realistic, it doesn't need subtle lighting and reflections.

like someone else itt said though, I'd be interested to see what Ocarina of Time would look like with raytracing, because that game feels more suited to it.
