Super Mario Maker Takes Best Buy's Banner Space

has best buy turned their fortunes around or is it safe to make a drive by shit post about how an outdated developer is getting window space from an outdated retailer?

you don't "get" window space. you buy it.

Nintendo purchased this retail marketing unit. It's just how it works.

If anything, it's a sign that they have a decent marketing budget for the game.
Which isn't a surprise, it's their only system seller this year. Their budget would be based on their sales forecast, so it's a sign they expect a good return.

Since BB has shrinking marketshare, i imagine it's part of a strategic partnership so both sides likely got a good deal.

Yeah the Super Mario Maker advertisement has gone full force at the Best Buy I work at. In the Home Theater department we have the Super Mario Maker ad's running on all the televisions every couple of minutes.

Is it really to hard too google?

And yes they have.

You might want to check up on best buy.

Although, this is basically because of sales tax affecting Amazon in many more states than it used to be.

Sales tax helps a lot for me. Why wait 2 days when I can pay the same (or price match) at Best Buy since I pay sales tax either way?

GCU has actually been huge. I buy games day one without thinking twice if I want it and otherwise most of the time I wait to get them at BB because of the points/certificates.

Sorry I don't know why that was so funny to me.

It's unbelievable how much BBuy has dominated my gaming purchases since GCU game out. the 20% off, + the $10 back on major releases, + the % back points. I really won't buy a game anywhere else.

Some think Nintendo doesn't know how to market or is shitty at it.

Actually, they are very selective nowadays but when they market, they go all out.

Case in point here and with Splatoon and Mario Kart.

To little to late, Nintendo should have tried advertising when the console came out rather than take the free route aka word-of-mouth

For those not in the know, larger Best Buy stores in the USA have Windows on the top which various companies use for nationwide ad space. Usually it is for phones, or computers, or speakers. Seems NOA is really pushing SMM, and that can only be a good thing.

With 3 years of E3 events and all these promos still happening, I don't think their partnership will end anytime soon. Makes me smile to see a huge Mario adorning a store. Again, NOA is doing a fine job in this regard.

It's too bad they didn't do something to the BB sign. Like Mario making the BB Sign or adding some Mario stuff to it.
