Super Mario Run |OT| Dash, Jump, Switch

Having fun. Trying not to binge on the game. Just enjoy it in small chunks. Some of these levels are ridiculous tho. The timing needed to grab a ledge and climb for a coin gets more and more precise. At 3-4 only 4 levels with full pink coins. Lots to do.

Also need to get my ass kicked in Rally. As always. Any tips? Sometimes I don't die, perfect run. Lots of flips spins and rolls. Yet I'll have 100 coins above the competition but less toads

You've gotta be shitting me. I got more stars, then somehow the stupid special moves put you 1 coin over the top.

So, let me see. You knew beforehand that it required the internet to work, and yet you were surprised that the game didn't work when you tried to play on the subway? Whut.

Even better. He had a connection to download it. But then waited until he was on the subway to try it. Nice.

It costs 200 platinum coins to get 10 tickets (which is ridiculous btw). That means, at best, you're earning 10 tickets every two weeks if you regularly do the My Nintendo weekly missions. There are no Mario Run weekly missions that don't require tickets. And that's spending 100% of your coins on just Mario Run tickets.

I played 30 rounds, just last night. And I still have 60 tickets left. But when those run out... will I want to bother going to back to the game every day to maybe get 1-2 tickets from the bonus minigame?

Some of the buildings you get give you tickets as well. I got 5 from my ? block earlier.

My ? block has given me 5 tickets, 1000 gold and 100 gold the three times I've used it. I'm not that far away from the long ? block, so hopefully my ticket resources start increasing. If I could get to 20 tickets a day just by hitting ? blocks, that'd be a nice rate.

Gold for tickets would be a nice addition. I have thousands of this stuff piled up doing nothing since unlocks are kind of slow if you're not great at Toad Rush. Miitomo does that. You can either use tickets to play the minigames or spend gold. But in that game they just throw tickets and gold at you like nothing and you'd never be able to blow 30 tickets a day in that game unless you really liked playing pachinko.

Does anyone know how to make the mynintendo mii update to the one I use on my 2ds/nintendo network account? it shows in miitomo but not in mario run or my account page. *edit* thinking back, you make the miitomo one seperately for that game only.

Really? So I can't use my Miitomo mii as my avatar?

Or I wanted to see if it would work in a limited-connection environment.

It didn't.

Not that complicated.

LOL at player-shaming.

They have a really strange setup for this that I'm not quite sure how to work. If you link your NNID to your Nintendo account, it uses that Mii. But... if you link your Miitomo game to your Nintendo account before linking a NNID, it uses the Miitomo Mii. I haven't touched my NNID Mii in a while so I'd love to know how to start using the Miitomo one!

There's a new Miitomo option in the latest update which allows you to tie your Miitomo Mii to your Nintendo Account. In Miitomo go to Menu and scroll to the bottom :)

2-2 was kicking my ass and then the fucking 2-Airship happened. How in the living hell are you supposed to get all the Black Coins in this level!? And I know it's only gonna get harder from here.

This game is definitely a great value for the price IMO.

Hmm, this game just isn't doing it for me. Having such nuanced and tactile controls reduced to touchscreen presses is like being given a Ferrari and asked to drive with thick gloves and boots on. It's Mario on the surface, but with the sensations dulled. That telepathic interaction with Mario has gone. Brave attempt, but misses the mark on what makes Mario platformers so gratifying.

Yeah, this is sorta where I'm at too. Wondering if it will be better on my Android phone whenever they release it. Don't really like playing it on my iPad.

I was able to get all the coins in the first 2 worlds (pink, purple & black). A bit frustrating at times (and hitting all those swoopers correctly to get the last black coin in that level is kind of insane....).

Off to try the rest of the levels at some point.

I'm "shaming" you because of the way you framed it.

That's fair. I'll own it.

Feels like I've been apprehensive about Nintendo's always online stance, but many seemed to think public transport wouldn't be a problem (aka limited or spotty coverage).

I think it gave me hope that the app would just "check in" every once in a while and therefore still work fine between tunnel stations.

Turns out that isn't the case at all.

Wah-wuh.

Might be a dumb question - when you tap on the castle in the main menu area and it says "A Kingdom Past" with the golden photo frame underneath, are you supposed to build the kingdom to look like that photo? Do you get anything extra if you replicate that exactly?

I think Nintendo probably isn't aware that it wouldn't work on public transport in the US. In Japan, the public transport has no dark spots when it comes to reception, this includes the subways.

It is unlikely they will get rid of the online requirement, especially since they will be bringing the game to Android in the future.

This is a bit of a backwards suggestion, but why don't Americans demand network coverage from their cellular providers. Isn't that what the monthly payment is for?

I'm not sure an iPad could provide the ergonomics required for this game given the preciseness with which you have to tap, in addition to needing easy access to the bubble button; it's really more of an iPhone experience.

Yeah, it's my only option at the moment. My phone is an Android.

Fair enough. Would be much more convenient

I guess we all get fucking screwed by pirates and cheaters

So killing lots of enemies can increase the level of the coins you get in toad rush? Guess you really want to grind those up in tour before taking on high level rush player ghost.

Also other then the special buildings that give mini games and more playable characters does kingdom builder do anything for you?

Toad Rush levels them up too and is better for grinding them out since grabbing stars is a key strategy.

Theres ? Blocks you can buy that give you free coins/tickets every few hours, and toads will ocassionally have free coons you can tap on.

Not the case for me. I was jailbroken on 9.3.3 for months, then updated to iOS 10, losing the Jailbreak, and have no problem launching or playing the game.

As far as I know, an updated phone contains no evidence of ever having been jailbroken.

There is actually it's a system folder that's there till a full restore.

My game crashes upon loading immediately

So I think this is pretty good. Some things don't really translate well from Mario like vertical levels or the awkward ghost house stage where you're cramped in a single screen. It's polished though and I like the level design for the most part, even though I wasn't expecting it to be completely centric around collecting the colored coins. The bubbles that are used as lives and the ability to go back and get coins you missed replacing 1-ups is a great mechanic. The timer feels actually meaningful in this as well for a change.

Not a big fan of rally the more I play it, though I'm only halfway through the main levels so maybe it won't be as repetitive as I go on and unlock more. Either way, I'm not about that grind.

I like the rally though I sometimes swear I actually did better than the other opponent only to lose because they had more toads in the end.

Absolutely loving this game. The finish on this game for an ios game is just amazing. Cant believe how many folks out there are quitting on it bc they think it is too easy when they dont realize the challenge is in the coin collecting.

People like challenge... but some people don't especially like the particular challenge of collecting (at least, when there is no challenge of exploration etc.). I for one, as a massive Mario fan, was simply left cold by the experience. It's a collectathon dressed up as a six-world adventure, rather than the other way round. I have no interest in finishing the game when I know the adventure aspect is going to be predictable, short, and lifeless.

It's the same as NSMBU. While the Challenges are cool, I spent probably an hour or two on them total, compared with the 50-odd hours on the adventure and exploration.
