Super Nintendo Mini Classic Available from Argos UK

Almost. I almost managed to not get one. I almost convinced my self I didn't need one, and that hey, it's too late now, everyone has sold out of pre-orders.

Damn you. Pre-ordered!

the order fucked up twice for me, and i thought i wouldn't get one... discovered i got charged twice, and it went through twice.
now trying to cancel one so hopefully someone else can get one!

I just ordered (10 minutes ago) and immediately got a confirmation email and the money has already gone from my bank account. says it will be delivered for free on launch day. Nothing about arranging deliveries etc.

I live in Wigan, UK.
The email didn't say it. Check the My Account section of the Argos site?

If yours doesn't mention to contact them then something's weird.

I used to trade a lot of stuff to game doing the 'we'll beat CEX by a pound' trade in policy and got a load of credit. They stopped doing it one day and took great pleasure in telling me they weren't doing it anymore. I just smiled and laughed, took my games back off the desk and simply explained I would be heading off to CEX then. I don't know why they thought I'd continue with the trade if I could literally get more value down the road, lol

love it, yeah thats our GAME staff all over. I had one of my local ones explain to me in great detail why they've done this new policy (he acted like he invented it for some reason). Now...I'm 42 years old, I've been gaming since I was 10 or so....I've seen more stuff than the young pups behind the counter (because obviously the people like me who know stuff have moved on career wise). So it used to really boil my piss being lectured at by an 18 year old clearly making up shite to say to me to defend his company.

So funny too that my local is a graveyard, and it has a CEX opposite which never doesnt have a long line to the tills. I did that same trade in thing you did...got my games out, having checked CEX online, and the GAME guy (after boasting about their new higher trade prices) proceeded to give me crap prices for everything on the counter. I just said er, great new prices mate, and did the same as you.

I had a british snes for 6 months til I read about the 60hz nonsense in Super Play magazine, then sold it and got your purple parma violet machine (with the japanese cart protector slots melted away with a soldering iron) for xmas. Lovely RGB scart scanline beauty, just in time for Axelay and Starfox. I still have it.

That's great. My older consoles disappeared eons ago. Wish I still had them, with the SNES being my most wanted.

SHIT! Yes, it does say that in the 'my account' 'recent orders' section. WTF.
Actually if everyone is getting that message it's likely not a glitch to be worried about.

If only some did, I would wager those people would be in bother. We shall see.

Yeaaaah, this is certain Argos will cancel the preorders as soon they got the stock confirmed. This product got sold out within less than 30 minutes elsewhere, yet Argos is still taking preorders for over an hour.

All boxed in my loft, but for convenience these days I used my softmodded Wii, framemeister for scanlines on my plasma tv, and a club snes pad.

I just wish there was more competition in the UK. My local GAME closed down a couple of weeks ago so the only place I have for new games is an HMV which has a poor selection of titles which are expensive. CEX is an option but that is for mainly preowned stuff rather than new so my only option is buying from Amazon/SimplyGames/ShopTo or going digital.

A local GAME closed? Wow I thought they were still expanding.

CEX sell literally nothing new by the way, if you take something in sealed they'll unwrap it. I sometimes trawl their site for bargains, like a mixamp on its own for 30 quid or cheap DS games, I see them as a legitimised ebay rather than a game shop.

Looks like it's all good. See my live chat transcript below:

This has been a joyous day for us all

Yeah I got that "contact us for delivery". Even though they have my address, name, phone number...I can see they would need more.

Announced on July the 1st

"Dear UK Nintendo fans,

to keep on giving you the great Nintendo experience you are used to, we are pleased to announce we are equipping all UK SNES Minis with the enforced, authentic 50hz only output that you all love. Thanks and please understand".

Very condescending aren't they, and they don't even do it very well.

I recently went in there and they were trying to flog me this stupid 'ELITE GAME' membership. A bloke in his early 20s along with the manager who was about 10 years older both stood there with shit eating grins, exchanging smirks to eachother trying to tell me how good this scheme is, it is 'free money', how it would be 'stupid not to', yada yada.. I was obviously being taken for a mug. Well I stood there reading this leaflet which looks like it was knocked up by a work experience kid in a lunch break and proceeded to tell them both that I'd give it a miss as I'm never really sure when GAME are going to go under and I wouldn't want to be locked into this scheme for a year if this local store goes under like it's almost done a few times in the past 5 years.

They didn't say too much more after that, lol

My problem is im too polite to them, I listen to the crap but unless pushed I dont throw it back at them. Thats annoying as hell though, what they did to you...it makes you feel like you're being milked for every penny. Thats why I wont build up too much credit with them too...it might turn into dust at any time...with the wallet app forever on my phone with a total of cash on it, before eventually being patched out by OS updates.

I had one in my local last year telling me how the xbox S is a true 4k box, unlike these crap PS4 Pros, and watched him going round the store actively putting people off PS4 purchases and so on. I said you know the Pro has extra GPU and significant clock speed over the S, and he mumbled to me about how no it didnt, the extra 100 pounds price was a Sony tax or something. I left dumfounded, he's not there any more.

It's pending atm. I've checked with other people and seems like it's been taken for everyone else?

Mines showing as pending but so is a PSN order from 21 June and I'm playing those games! So I'm not worried.

Got through to live chat to question having to contact them re. delivery, they said:
"am sorry that is an error del is by our supplier on the release date"

She confirmed no further action is needed.

I imagine, they will just send a confirmation, they have the address and everything.

It was bizarre. There was no warning about it, I was in there on a Tuesday just killing some time and then next day it was closed with a leaflet saying the nearest store was 30 miles away.

Not that I really minded as most of my purchases are made online. But it sucks to see it close down, it had been in the same location since I was a kid and remember spending hours as a kid just browsing the entire store while my parents were shopping.

Well, it was in stock but the site went down while I was placing my order and now it isn’t.

I barely played the NES classic so I’ll just not bother now. I don’t get why Nintendo is the only HW manufacturer around that can’t produce adequate stock.

It's pending atm. I've checked with other people and seems like it's been taken for everyone else?
I think they're refering to direct card payments. Either way it's not instant so will be pending for a day or so either way.

Also I was burned by the Super Metroid 50hz thing so I am glad that Nintendo has said these are 60hz.

wow 30 miles!! So not even closing because of 2 in close proximity. It does suck when they close, I used to browse mine when it was Future Zone, they used to have imported super fami games, a 60hz JP machine on the counter playing Mario World, it was like a magical cave.

In the same location now (Sunderland) is a grotty little outlet full of bashed up mobile phones, gouging prices, 100 copies of No mans sky, fixtures and fittings from 20 years ago, and the manager's a prick (no names mentioned).

Website wouldn't work for me but I just used the mobile app and it worked.

Have a confirmation email, so here's hoping.

Can't add to my trolley... Goddamit. (only reason I'd buy it now is I can put it on my Argos card along with a TV I'm buying soon and not have to pay for it immediately.

I've just been on the phone to Argos re: the website order states contact Argos for arranging the delivery, the lady said someone from the warehouse will contact me themselves for arranging a delivery at a later date, getting conflicting information here.

They have my delivery address, why do they need to contact me for delivery arrangements. hmm

Ordered about an hour ago, but I still haven't received a confirmation e-mail. It's in my Recent Order history though. I'd feel better if I had the e-mail, but I've made a note of the order number.

I wonder how many people have pre-ordered. I sincerely hope they aren't just taking any and all pre-orders without any consideration of how many units they're going to get. I'm going to be extremely pissed if it isn't honoured. Maybe I should pre-order at other places too, just in case?

They had two listings up, the more expensive one launched first, the cheaper one later. You may want to contact them because they have that price guarantee.

All done, they seem to be aware of the problem as i didn't even need to explain the issue: i just started the chat with "i pre-ordered the system and the pre-order price guarantee hasn't been applied (order number:xxxx)", they pretty much instantly responded with "we are aware of the issue of the price on this item not being reduced to the newer price for some pre-orders and it will be fixed".

So, happy days.

are you signed in?

edit - yeah its fucked. Doesnt help the likes of the daily express doing a news story on argos listing it, the whole of mumsnet probably scalped the remaining lot.

Ordered via the android app, went straight through when i paid by card and got the confirmation email right away. Spoke to a rep via chat and they said its all being delt with supplier. So I've got a backup incase the game order falls through. If not my friend will have this as he is trying to get one but keeps failing.

Apparently Argos use the Rackspace cloud service (we use the same service at work) which has crashed, so now I can't work. Probably because of all of these pre-orders.
