Relative to...? The center of the Earth? If you could choose the "Up" involved, you could control it much better. What happens if you (theoretically) traveled to another planet? Do you still fly "Up" in relation to Earth's core? Or just the nearest celestial body with the ability to generate gravity and/or has a defined core?

A 10/10 migraine? You'd try to kill yourself in minutes, maybe seconds. At best, you'd probably never try to use your powers again.

The torture would be if someone found out you had that ability, and forced you to use it, restrained in such a way that you could do nothing about it.

Should be younger for a downside. There's a character in Fables comic that's a kid and immortal, since he's only a kid he's balls haven't really drop, doesn't get boners either, he hates it. lol

Yeah you could easily exploit it. If you think somebody feels differently than you want them to, just read their mind. If you were wrong, read their mind again to get it back the way you want. This doesn't work as well for situations where there are more than two options though.

Yeah, I thought so. I mean, the OP didn't say the idea has to be useless. Just that it had a draw back. And it has some drawbacks, although it wouldn't be too hard to take advantage of it anyway.

That actually is a plot point to one of the Kamen Riders IIRC. Every time he powered up and used his powers, he was losing memories and people were forgetting him.
