Super Smash Bros 4 DLC: 5 more characters spaces found in 3DS Files

Mewtwo
Lucas
Roy
Ryu
Wolf
Winner of the Smash Ballot

There.
And by "winner of the Smash Ballot," we mean the 15th or 16th highest vote-getter after Sakurai discards ineligible characters and irrelevant ones that charted high due to ballot-stuffing minorities.

...Wait, Ribbon Road is coming to Mario Kart 8? I will literally go out right now and buy a copy of if that's the case.

In the cheapest DLC pack you'll ever buy. $12 for sixteen new tracks, seven new characters, and eight new vehicles.

Do you hear that? The engines are calling your name!

Winner of the Smash Ballot

There.

Yeah looks likely.
At this rate the winner may end up being K.Rool or Isaac, the latter seems likely especially since he suddenly vanished entirely as AT.
Could also be an elegant way to present a new Golden Sun game.

And also because of this, I have a feeling K.Rool wont happen even if he wins the ballot.

No, we mean whichever character theyre working on that theyll just say was "the most requested character".

I loved Golden Sun, but man it's the most generic-looking JRPG ever, and Isaac epitomizes the blandness. He'd definitely be fun if they went all-out with the psynergy manipulation, though.

That bring said, the people participating in the Fighter Ballot are probably like 5 percent of all SSB users, so I'm not sure they'd try to sell DLC of a character that would make people go, "Who?"

It's just that, like you, I'm pushing for Wonder Red. This ballot is basically his only chance to get into Smash.

I really don't see WonderRed winning the ballot, although I'd like to see him in game too. I think the most we might get is a Mii Brawler outfit, like what Protoman got. It'd work well visually, since the proportions are similar to a Smash Mii and the mask would cover the eyes. But, yes, obviously, no voice and moveset wouldn't be there.

When is eventually? Zelda isn't coming out until (probably late) 2016, so they need something to fill in the gaps. I think that there's going to be a lot of DLC. I could see them porting Smash 4 to their next console and including all of the DLC + more content. Nintendo can't afford to wait another 2-3 years to get Smash out the door. I think they may have something similar planned for Mario Kart 8. Imagine if they released updated versions of both games as NX launch titles, in addition to, say, a new 3D Mario from EAD Tokyo.
As far as Smash goes, Sakurai did state that he can't make a ton of characters as DLC. Although we don't know his definition of "a ton", 6 seems like a decent stopping point. And assuming that the NX is the next console, it's probably not coming until 2017, which means that they could get another Smash game out in 2018 at the absolute earliest.

They wouldn't do the poll to begin with if that was the case. I truly believe that the ballot will factor into things, though it'll probably only be for one character now & will likely impact the roster for Smash 5 as well.

And also because of this, I have a feeling K.Rool wont happen even if he wins the ballot.

I don't know how you can say this about K. Rool whilst supporting Isaac. They couldn't even be bothered to keep his Assist Trophy, or for that matter, trophy. And before the conspiracy theorists claim that they removed it because he's being promoted, I guess Barbara the Bat, Jill Dozer, and Helirin are going to be playable as well. Camelot could be working on a fourth Golden Sun game, maybe, but many people have speculated that Retro is working on a third Donkey Kong Country game. It's all conjecture.

The thing about DLC is that it has to sell. Nintendo isn't going to ignore their fans unless something like Shrek wins the ballot.

If he does win the ballot, I think that would override the whole "irrelevant" factor, wouldn't it? Can't really call him ineligible either, since he doesn't have the same sort of problems that making a fighter out of say, Ridley would.

It's funny how the Smash community perceives popularity. We're a fractioned, insular minority. I guarantee Ryu will be the best-selling DLC character despite not placing in any online "fan poll."

Fully expecting them to be third party characters and for Nintendo to drop bombs at E3 with DLC reveals and cross promotion.

I even half expect one of them to be an assassin for an Ubi rep, or something from Disney just because it's Disney.

Might as well have the Disney and Square Enix rep be Sora.

Would be awesome if the DLC would have a lot more 3rd party reps.
chances of Miku would shoot through the roof

Oh don't get me wrong, I'd like to see K.Rool coming back in any form and hopefully the Smash ballot will make Nintendo notice that some people still like the Kremlings.

Personally I'd love to see Isaac, K.Rool, Wonder Red and Ganon (Classic Pig demon) in Smash, along some third party characters like Bomberman, Rayman and possibly Goemon or Simon, sadly I know that most of these will never make it in.

I just think that among the two Isaac may have more chances to get in, just a personal opinion.

Ryu kinda fills that role.

I don't know, Mewtwo's a Pokemon. One of the original 151 to boot, and a Melee vet. But I guess he'll miss out on sales naturally because of the Club Nintendo giveaway. Lucas will probably sell the least because the majority of the Smash fanbase never even got the chance to play his damn game.

He's coming

I really hope Wolf isn't one of them. I'll feel quite let down if two-thirds of the DLC characters are previously-cut characters.
Given the fact that Wolf is one of the characters people cried fowl for over his removal (like Lucas) on top of the fact that Star Fox U is coming, Wolf is most likely one of the two.

Y'know, I'm almost more excited for more stages than for more characters, to be honest. Even if it just means bringing more of the 3DS stages to Wii U and possibly the reverse, I think the stage list on Smash 4 Wii U is pretty grim, and many of the best 'shape' stages have irritating hazards - I appreciate the Omega thing, but there's a great middle ground of wanting a stage with a unique shape without additional bullshit.

i agree.
Mewtwo at least skipped a game so we never saw him in the post Melee environment.
Lucas i could probably due without even though i mained him in Brawl.
i don't need Roy back either.

In my ideal world (considering what we know) it would be this:

Pre-Planned Characters (2015)
Mewtwo
Lucas
Ryu
Roy
Wolf
Inkling (Splatoon)

Ballot Characters (2016)
Wonder Red (Wonderful 101)
Hades (Kid Icarus Uprising)
Isaac (Golden Sun)

If the 6th DLC is really the last one and not a pre-planned character, then I want it to be Wonder Red.

Other characters I would be really happy to see (but don't find incredibly likely):

Banjo & Kazooie
King K Rool
Dunban or Reyn (Xenoblade)
Bayonetta
Ridley (Not Other M style)
Toon Ganondorf (with swords) or Classic Ganon

It's just that, like you, I'm pushing for Wonder Red. This ballot is basically his only chance to get into Smash.

Like most of characters' chances. I just hope that Sakurai and teams would take a notes, and keep those suggestions in their minds for next smash if it ever happens.

Yeah looks likely.

Isaac not longer as assist trophy don't really meant anything. It could meant that he's not important enough to be assist trophy again; or they probably ran out of time adding more assist trophies so they might put Isaac in DLC AT Bundle

I'm fine with it. Heck, I'm glad that they are bringing back those characters.

Given how popular King K. Rool is right now, he may be more likely than you think.

I'm not entirely sure that Sakurai would pick the winners of a ballot. He just want to know which characters that are still popular with the crowds so he might pick one or few characters from top 10 or 15 depend on what kind of things that characters would bring to the table, uniqueness, creatively movesets, etc. I could be wrong tho.

Hades and Isaac?! H'okay.

I like how people assumed "mewtwo was it" and now are assuming "oh these 6 are it" when we have nothing to indicate that's the plan at all.

Not so sure about that. I'd think that the types of people playing smash casually that don't know the majority of the roster also wouldn't know who Ryu is.

If we ever get some sort of DLC sales numbers for smash I'd expect Mewtwo to be the best selling since there's not many characters they can release that are more recognizable than him.

How come there isn't more support for Conker? I'd love to see him and banjo both get in.

Hell if the dlc winds up being

Mewtwo
Lucas
Ryu
Roy
Wolf
Newcomer (inkling/chorus kids)

Then, "from the ballot"
K. Rool
Wonder Red
Banjo + Kazooie
and Conker

I'd lose my shit, tbh. At this point I'm hoping K. Rool is a shoe-in: he isn't my personal first choice but he deserves it.

But if Banjo, Wonder Red, or Conker get in? Hoboy.

And also because of this, I have a feeling K.Rool wont happen even if he wins the ballot.

K. Room would fall under "irrelevant" characters.

It's clear they're phasing K. Rool and the Kremlings out of the Donkey Kong series. We certainly won't be seeing K. Rool playable in Smash Bros.

Hades and Isaac?! H'okay.

Hades is the best antagonist a Nintendo game has had in years. He's a really fun character. The game is pretty light on villains anyways. I think he'd be a really good fit. I know Kid Icarus already has 3 characters, but I don't think that should prevent him from joining the roster. Especially when 1 of those characters is just Dark Pit.

Isaac is just a longtime wish of mine since I was a big fan of GS, especially The Lost Age. However, I can admit that now that characters like Robin and Shulk exist his uniqueness probably wouldn't be as apparent. I would take any of those other characters I listed too, I just still would like to see him.

Well of course nothing is guaranteed but this is a fan ballot. Of course they'll dismiss it if we get impossibles like Goku or Spongebob on it, but if they notice that someone like Krystal, King K. Rool, or Isaac gets first place, that is going to make them stand out for consideration as Smash DLC. Even if they don't get in, it will probably put them under strong consideration for the next game.

Bet on it.

Edit: Goddamn.. I forgot about my avatar, again. >.<
I would take that bet. We ain't getting Isaac unless he's far and away the poll winner and... lol.

I'm actually hopeful for a DK or Metroid character finally. Ridley has no chance, but if K Rool is ever gonna get in, this is how.

Is it possible to datamine the the Wii U version of the update?

They already did but found nothing. It was completely clean. I guess someone goofed up with cleaning the files for 3DS DLC.

Yep, I really hope that it would work out for most of fans.

Relevancy is a fallacious argument. I'm sure many people thought they were "phasing out" Dixie before she appeared in Tropical Freeze. Or how about Ganondorf? He hasn't appeared in a mainline Zelda title since 2006. But that doesn't matter, because he has seniority. Bullshit. The fact that people are still voting for K. Rool despite the fact that he hasn't appeared in years proves that relevancy doesn't matter. This is a ballot, not a "Sakurai picks and chooses which characters are relevant" contest. Do you think he's going to add Lord Fredrik over K. Rool even though he's probably received zero votes? Retro Studios wanted to leave their own mark on the series, which is perfectly acceptable. They've done a fantastic job. However, almost everybody seems to agree that their villains leave a lot to be desired. Hell, their CEO is following the Kremling Kampaign on Twitter. I will close my account if they make another DKC game without K. Rool in it. The return of the Kremlings seems inevitable at this point.

Smash fans run on unleaded assumptions don't you know?

For example, did you know that on Smashboards, they reopened the character support threads universally but then added a line saying support threads for characters in game as ATs or stage props/bosses were banned?

The one rule of the poll is literally "is the character you're voting for a video game character" and look how far people have taken it into their hands to make rules, "implied logic" or some self justified reasoning to making and sustaining votes. :lol
