Personally I think that the final box art will strongly resemble this, perhaps with superficial differences. But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I fully expected a bias once I got that Member title slapped under my name. No surprises really. Newbs suck on most forums anyway, and with most of them in the repetitive loop of GameFAQS -> GameSpot -> IGN then there really is no hope.

It's kind of small yes, but it's real. A few days ago a tiny thumbnail of this same boxart emerged on an online retail website, who I contacted. They assured me that it was real but that some things were not final (such as the "Rating Pending" logo) so don't slit your wrists yet at the lack of the WiFi symbol. Now this bigger version has emerged (credit to infiniteloop for finding it). It's almost certainly genuine, and it uses character artwork that simply cannot be found anywhere else.

Personally I think it looks pretty cool.

Snake is a guest character...he's not part of the "Nintendo All Stars" cast. The game is selling to the Nintendo enthusiast/follower, not to Metal Gear Solid fans. On the other hand, those MGS fans already know their favorite character is in Brawl, so no need for "extra" publicity on that front.

I love the boxart. It's miles better than that Melee crap.

I find the lack of characters we know are in the game such as DK, Diddy and Zelda on the cover disappointing.

That's one reason why I believe this isn't final/the real deal.

NEWSFLASH: Not every single character can make it into the front cover. For Melee, they found a cheap way to do it with the little square "profiles", but it looked ugly as fuck.

The WIP box art originally had only two of the chracters on it, I think Link and Pikachu were missing. (And none of those boxes at the top.) I used to have a copy of it, but no luck when I went looking for it yesterday.

Never understimate how far people will go for a prank/con. Yes, people will do things this detailed, far more so in fact, for the sake of putting people on.

But by now this is up on several major retailers in several different sizes and compressions, it's pretty clear it's the art they were recently given. There's plenty of chance for it to be adjusted or changed (often the character art is separated out, so they can be slid around to make room for the logos and such, they're most likely not "painted in" to the background), so that's something to hold out for.

Also, as I've said previously, we know you can trade the sticker sheets online, right? Or at least the blog heavily teased it, and every time it's teased something, it's been true. Wouldn't that qualify for a WFC icon anyway? So they're probably waiting for a big reveal of the full online, closer to release. (Or maybe not, but frankly, I'd be really disappointed if Online was the single thing they couldn't include out of all the things they are.)
