Jonke, great games! Just want to finish the ranbats before the deadline. You were catching up to me. Quite even last few games. I always suicide with Yoshi :( same as your Meta Knight, I like playing Yoshi but I'm bad.

No worries, i do that too often myself with various characters. x)
 
GGs Shamrock. I am at the point in my play where I get into habits and forget I have other tools. Trying to bring it all into one coherent whole.

He is one of the best anti-projectile characters in the game. :p
 
Hrm, for a secondary character, would it be better for me to try ZSS, or Palutena? Main reason I'm thinking Palutena is her handling (air speed etc) seems closer to Peach, and I don't want to play a character that EVERYONE is playing like ZSS. I like being that "one" Peach player. I think ZSS would cover my matchups a bit better though, but I don't *really* know how matchups work anyway. :x

Almost no one I know plays ZSS. We have like...one on here.

Palutena is really hard to use well. You would be replacing frustration with frustration. Pick a top tier. :)

That's what I do too much. I feel I'm too narrow minded when I play sometimes and only if something keeps failing I'll try something new.. aka I keep doing super speed dash into shield.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it was more towards launch that FG looked like ZSS and C Falcon all day err day.
I guess I'll go with Samus then.

I figured the only reason I was bad with Palu was because I didn't know what I was doing lol.

Palutena pretty much needs customs to not suck. Play Direct_Quote to see what I mean.

FG is mostly Falcon these days. ZSS is too hard to play well.

O_o She seemed fairly easy to me when I play my buddies, but my buddies are about my skill level. :x

EDIT: Yeah I definitely don't want to play Falcon. He's fun when I'm playing with buddies, but I feel when I play anyone better than me he'd be entirely to predictable.

You tend to get hit by them. ;-)

That's why the ranbats are FT5. You get time to figure it out.

Only a handful of customs significantly change the matchup, anyway. At that point, you should probably assume they are being used. For example, I always assume DK opponents are using Kong Cyclone until proven otherwise.

Consistent ffall Nair isn't easy to do while hitting the sweet spot. The only ZSS player we have here is Beats, but he is pretty solid with her.

Edit: Characters aren't predictable. Players are. ;-)

You can take that wisdom anywhere!

Customs weren't actually the problem while we played our bracket matches, he outplayed me with Mewtwo!

It's just excuses. I was completely bulldozed by Thulius. He is another league completely. We played a few friendlies after, and still got wrecked by every character he had. But I need to learn these customs still, seems like they are gonna be the norm!
 
Wow, you guys weren't kidding with using Trophy Rush to focus on one character. I got more Zelda moves in 30 minutes than all my amiibo fights come together. Of course, I wouldn't have been able to afford spamming Trophy Rush without the amiibo fights, so... hm. In any case, I'll farm some more and try to get a full set for Zelda, then I'll need someone to show me all the mistakes I'm making.

In any case, I have a very newbish question here. How exactly do you guys connect to each other? NNID, then invite to friend match? I take it you have your customs set up in advance and all that?

Also, I have a feeling I'll be hot on the heels on H3XAntiStyle there when it comes to picking characters I like vs. characters that are good. Need the first to get interested, need the second to learn the game, and then things get a bit more open. I'm well aware that Zelda has to work for it and that at low level, it's better to choose a simpler character. Well, I suppose everyone loves Captain Falcon. I've just never been good with speed characters in fighting games.

Yes to all of the bolded. There is no invite feature on the Wii U or the game. You have to go online and join. You can also join through the friends list, but it is a bit sketchy in how it works.

All of the characters are good save for maybe Mii Swordsman, who is extremely bad as far as I can tell. The tiers in this game are a small divide, not a massive one. If you're getting stomped, in most cases it is you. My main is decidedly "mid tier" on most lists, and he competes just fine.

Halberd is one of Mewtwo's two best stages, though. :-(

I think I will be banning Omega stages and Duck Hunt. Actually, I am going to make a little list out of our legal stages:

GREAT FOR MEWTWO
Battlefield
Lylat Cruise
Halberd

OKAY FOR MEWTWO
Delfino
Castle Seige
Wuhu Island
Town and City
Smashville

BAD FOR MEWTWO
All For Glory Stages
Duck Hunt

NO ONE PICKS THIS STAGE BECAUSE IT SUCKS

Doesn't it reset the list when you power down the machine, like it does for combat rules? I've always avoided it for this reason.

Also, your avatar is pretty hot, and it makes responding to you more enjoyable.

Nope, Random Stage Select bans stay whenever you boot up the game.

What? No, it stays up. In fact, I set it up so that all the stages that I have banned, are the only ones that'll show up in Omega form. So Town and City is possible in regular random, but not Omega random, and Norfair is possible in Omega Random, but not regular Random.

Also, your avatar is pretty hot, and it makes responding to you more enjoyable.
