Either one of our families is making the connection shitty or it's just "fuck Mexican internet" :/

sounds more like the first the first one, that last game began more smoothly, let's play another one and if it doesn't holds up play somebody else, I know it's not fun like this D:

Oh wow use the right stick for my A attacks? (Smash attacks?)

I haven't tried using it like that yet. I will have to practice with it.

Thanks!

Just in case.

Smash attacks = Attacks that can be charged up for more attack and launching power. These are pulled of by pressing the attack button while tapping the analog stick in one direction at the same time. The attack keeps charging as long as you hold down the attack button.

Tilt attacks = quick attacks that are weak, but help rack up damage quick, basically this is what you will be using for footsies, pokes and comboes. Tilts are peformed by inputing the direction first, then hitting the attack button while the direction is held.

Right now your c-stick is set to Smash attacks by default. Leave it set like that for now until you get the hang of the game. Later on if you prefer, you can change the cstick to tilt attacks.

Hope I dint butcher that lesson since im kind of terrible at explaining things.

Edit: also, tilt and smash attacks have the same direction inputs as special.

GGs Cyberman, fun matches/great Falco and Sonic as usual. Sorry about the lag issues at the beginning, but at least it smoothed out. Felt like I was playing sloppy with Pikachu tonight (ahhh damnit game give me my b reversals), but that probably means I should sleep early tonight lol. I'll probably stick with default neutral special when I'm fighting Sonic next time lol.

GGs. Yeah, glad it got better. I feel like that custom neutral b gives me more options and lets me stay on the ground more as it goes away fast. The normal one is a lot better for this matchup. I feel like it would be good against slow/heavy characters, though. I still can't remember that range on Shulk's B-air and will never remember. :(

As always, great Shulk/Pikachu. I'm really scared of playing other Pikachus since that character feels so scary, haha. I'm also gonna make a video on that fsmash kill, was so funny.

ok, I went full dumb on that last one lol

edit: sorry for sudden leave Solar, something I gotta take care of came up
Good Games pal, fun playing your characters! :D

Last match for now!

Edit: Good games guys, thanks for the matches. Solid connection for the most part too :) She also said good games as well, she is also taking credit for picking temple :p

Likewise.

GGs tell your friend that Link is nightmare lol. Which one is your main Golden? Kirby?

Fand I still want an explanation of what happened at temple.

Since he was falling and match was about to be over I wanted to see if I could knee him or just free fall in the attempt lol

She can read what you're saying just not post since she doesn't have an account. As for my main, I cycle between Falcon (didn't use him much), Kirby, Zelda, Pikachu, Peach and Greninja really, I don't think I have a particular best but it might be Kirby since he was my primary in brawl :P

I see, its good to play that many characters, I play 5 but I am really good mostly with Falcon and Shulk, I only used Pac Man and Toon Link once, since I recently picked up Pac Man and my Toon Link isn't good in doubles.

Yeah this is actually only my 3rd or 4th time doing doubles and i've been out of town to work for a few months so i'm still getting my groove back. Her and I 1 on 1 a lot which is where i'm most comfortable at but I enjoy a solid team game as well, we don't typically play with friendly fire though so that required some adjustment as well.

I basically only used Kirby and Pikachu in brawl but I felt with so many characters I should really try to expand out, though with friendly fire I had to hold Zelda back quite a bit as to not anger my team mate lol.

I think almost everybody plays with team fire on, and competitive rule-sets always have them on. I prefer them on, adds more complexity it to it
and lot more hilarious shit happens.

Oh I know tourney players use it and such, not begrudging it just it isn't the style i've played until today. It's fun though when you get the jive down for sure. I'll pretty much play how anyone wants really since I don't plan on entering any tournaments of a serious nature, so I tend to find it's easier to just go with the flow and adapt :P

My villager is my next up and coming 'main' in the rotation but still needs a bit of work, but slowly i'd like to work towards 10-15 primary characters i'm cozy with using.

You guys adjusted with having team attack on very well. You guys did not have nearly as much team kills than we did.

I actually didn't know it was on the first match until later in, once I realized I felt bad about the likely damage I caused and tried to hold it back lol.

It's safe when used off-stage, and that's where it's used as an actual KO move.
And Mewtwo's neutral air does beat a ton of moves.

Good games Wavebossa. That Dedede matchup is a lot of work, so I might have to just go Mario. Or even Diddy Kang.
I actually think Nair needs a few buffs...

My Yoshi isn't
even 1/10 of the Yoshi in that video :(
Yoshi so good he wins at 10% effort confirmed.

god damn that movement with Palutena... http://www.twitch.tv/tourneylocator

Someone get Karst watching this Bowser right away! I wanna know if he's doing good or not.
I was asleep. :-(

YouTube recording?

I was wondering if someone could tell me what the "standard" wii u pro controller set up most people use is?

Or if someone on GAF can tell me what they use?

I'm having a hard time maximizing the potential of it, and I don't want to go spend another 30-50 on a gamecube controller + adapter...

Basically I want to be able to short hop fast, get normals to come out on a dime, and have inputs come out as intended.

Right now I set jump to left trigger (ZL or w/e), and then I'm using the right stick for my normal attacks. I have B button for my specials. Shield is just R. Throw is L.

Smash attacks I have to hold the direction and use ZR or A. I was finding it nice in the preset that right stick was my smash attacks, but I don't know any other way to ensure your normals come out as intended without setting normal attacks to the right stick.

Thoughts? :(

Earlier, someone asked for good Ganondorf play:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUSTHDunsb4

Soldnerkei, when are we attempting to play again?

What was the Bowser player doing? Unless they recorded on Youtube I won't be watching it ever.
Yeah. Twitch is blocked at work, and mobile Twitch never works. :-(

Everyone is different. My own setup is unlike any other I have seen.

L Trigger - Grab
R Trigger - Shield
Z Trigger - Jump

X - Jump
Y - Shield
A - Attack
B - Special

C-Stick - Attack

Tap Jump - Off
A+B Smash - Off

Well they put the videos up eventually on their channel https://www.youtube.com/user/TourneyLocator, on the twitch archives http://www.twitch.tv/tourneylocator/v/5521164 , it's at 04:19:40..

I use the default setup because I'm lazy with Wii U pro controller. I think I've been able to get short hops kind of consistently. I know some people bind one of the triggers to jump to make that work better.. I've debated getting a GC controller though.

we can try out today, I played Solar and bunch of FG games yesterday and connection was better, I'll get home around the same time, somewhat 8pm PT

also nice ganon, gonna sharingan some stuff from him
If we play tonight, it will be very late into the evening. Tonight is locals, and I plan on staying later than usual since school is done (yay!).

What was the player's name?

CalmAnimal?

I use a wii u pro controller and the only thing I changed was Y to grab. I actually prefer it to the gamecube controller since imo it's way more comfortable. If you have trouble with moves not coming out as you want then you probably just need more practice with it.

Calm Animal did ok but he was missing jab trap opportunities and Dash Slash combo's. And he just jumped around too much.

That Super Speed aerial movement is pretty neat though.

Yah CalmAnimal.

I feel like he's inconsistent in his play. I was watching a video of him vs. Yoshi from a week ago. Yoshi Fair's his shield - Fortress punish. Good, great. Yoshi Nair's his shield - rolls away. Why?

Like you said, he likes being in the air too much. Lots of random fairs and bairs, and they never get him anything. He never uses Fire Breath, which is an incredibluh tool against Yoshi, who has to literally jump into it to live.

His jab traps are weird - I saw him land a jab into forward smash. Uh...why? That's probably not going to hit, your opponent is at 40% so it won't kill, and you're going to get punished hard. Jab into down B is always preferable.

He ended up swapping to Marth for his next match after losing, but I don't even consider Yoshi a bad matchup for Bowser. As long as you watch out for the grabs, Yoshi is the one that has to play careful most of the time.

I never see him run into people that have jumped and shield - it's Bowser's best offense, but I never see Bowser players use it except for me. :-( It basically makes jumping dangerous against Bowser.

If I didn't have to deal with horrendous BS matchups like custom Villager, I would keep using him. Also, Fortress should be invincible on startup like it was in every other game. :-P

Question for SmashGAF, who uses or at least tries to implement perfect pivots into their gameplay? I try to myself although I mess it up online a lot, and I just can't do it to the left :T

I don't know who is still around from two years ago, but I figured I should drop in and say hey SmashGAF.
Hi, KevinCow!

Who's available to play?

And are people going to disappear to play Splatoon soon? I'm not buying it at launch.
Zero interest in Splatoon. The demo was boring. None of the guns were fun to use.

None of my characters benefit from perfect pivots a lot.

If I use pivots for anything it is Pivot Grab. Because Bowser has the best range.

Which reminds me. I don't think Calm Animal used Pivot grab even once. Why?

I'm getting it at the end of June most probably so I'll still be around.

I don't, however I caught a video of a Samus using it to space up tilts and worked great.
