New teaser (same old pilot footage, though): Supergirl - A Hero Will Rise

The producers revealed further details for the first season, including that Superman will be a big factor in Supergirl's life (though he might be more in the background), and the reveal of new characters. In addition to Lucy Lane, Livewire and Reactron, they're introducing Red Tornado, Non, and General Lane (General Lane is Lucy and Lois' father).

That pretty much how Jimmy Olsen has always been in the comics. It's was the Donner films that turned him into a bubbling goof ball.

Yep. Comic-book Olsen is a bad ass. Flat-out. Fearless, adventurous, like Lois Lane he could carry a show by himself. The brilliance of Superman, his supporting characters are so iconic they could sustain a comic-book line unto themselves.

Wow! that would sell dozens of issues in today's market.

Supergirl: EP Andrew Kreisberg Talks Red Tornado, Lucy Lane & More

'Arrow,' 'The Flash,' 'Legends of Tomorrow,' 'Supergirl' Boss Spills 7 Teases

6. Supergirl addresses the Superman issue fairly early on.

Although the Supergirl pilot references Kara's famous cousin quite a bit, the show never mentions him by his name or alter ego (Clark Kent/Superman) ... but that was because of editing.

"I think the couple of times it was said, it was cut," Kreisberg shared. "it's not like Simpsons where Bart can have one 'damn' per episode."

As it turns out, the biggest use of the name came in a scene featuring a former Superman, Dean Cain. (Cain is guesting on Supergirl in a key, secret role.)

"There was originally a flashback sequence [with] Dean Cain and [former movie Supergirl] Helen Slater, and a much longer scene where he's talking about Superman," Kreisberg said. "It's one of my favorite moments of shooting the pilot was seeing Dean Cain talk about Superman. It just kept making me gush. But with the third episode coming out, it's very much about Superman's place in the world, and Kara's place in the world, and why isn't Superman going to be on our show every week. That episode has a lot of discussion about him."

And here's just a little bonus thing:

Is Power Girl gonna be in this?

Probably not. At least not any time soon. Power Girl is an alternate universe version of Supergirl, after all. There's no word on whether or not multiverses might exist in the Supergirl TV universe...but if it ends up crossing over with The Flash eventually, which is introducing multiverses in season 2...well, who knows!

No broadcasters in the UK have picked this up yet :( Thought Sky would of snapped this up.

Scuttlebutt had it that Channel 4/E4 and/or Five (possible partnering with Netflix as they did for Gotham) were the front runners to land this.

Apparently Sky have already taken a package of titles from WarnerTV (Legends of Tomorrow and Blindspot among them) and aren't going to come back for this, at least not at the moment.

Aside from Sky who are usually a day late, trying to watch it on UK TV as well as being part of any online community is impossible. Channel 4/5 are weeks or even months behind with most shows.

That suit looks terrible like a lot of the New 52 designs.

Other than the bizarre crotch shield, I kinda liked it, really. That cape is pretty great.

Oh, and I'd argue that costume wise at least, most came out of the New 52 looking better than they did going in. Writing is a different matter, of course.
