SUPERH|OT| SUPERHOT SUPERHOT

I think this is the first shooter best played on a controller rather than m/KB. You get better precision (ironically).

Finished the game earlier, very cool. Looking forward to trying out Endless and some of the challenge modes

I'd love to see them introduce weird modifiers like anti-gravity, force push, stuff like that (be it through official support or community mods)

The game's "story" turned me off so hard. Stop trying to be smart/pretentious for a second and let me play please. I'd be mad if I paid for this shit (steam sharing is awesome).

Not sure if I'll keep playing after it told me to not launch superhot.exe anymore, seems like a good plan.

Lovin the sword challenges.

It really doesn't get in the way that much.

The story is actually pretty cool,
Was surprised when I realized it was secretly a cyberpunk story, with mind uploading/mind jacking stuff going on

There is a really cheese staircase in the bridge level, i kill 280 red guys, no spawning zone in your back so you just face straight and kill.

This is what happens when you're bored.

It has the subtext of game addiction (and even VR addiction), exploring the difficulty in telling reality from the game -- and while it still has that, the last third got a little away from that. The meta last little bit at the end about recommending the games was a little much.

The Witness, Oxenfree, Firewatch, Devil Daggers, SuperHOT...and it's only February. 2016 has been amazing for indie games
Quoting this comment from a couple days ago, I gotta agree.
I haven't played Oxenfree, but definitely went through The Witness, Firewatch and SUPERHOT. This year's indie titles are incredible and it's only February. I don't think I've even played any AAA title for the last couple months!

I found it funny personally. The whole
"This is the most innovative shooter I've played in years." felt a bit like trying to create a meme thing, but eh...
it worked, seeing how everybody is repeating it online! And I mean, it's not like it's even a lie...!

Noob Question: Any way to access the Highlight reel/replay in Superhot? I mean they let u upload it to their shitty website which I need to be registered member to get into. But can we access the videos manually or save the Highlight reel locally or share on YouTube or whatever?

Well thats a bummer, game's running like ass for some reason on my OC'd 2500k and 390... Worked fine last night, wonder if they broke something in a patch...

Is there a reason why the game plays incredibly loud screeching noises randomly after kills now? If so, how do I get it to stop?

This is my issue with the game. The Audio is terrible and i find myself having to play music over the games sound effects. I too would love a way to turn off the screeching.

I beat it in like 3-4 hours it felt like. Loving it. Got my roommate hooked too

This is pretty ironic

Ahh the game seems to have given me another killstagram account so now things are uploading to the new one D:

Is there any way I can merge the accounts or something?

There's this which is what the account first was uploading to but now it's uploading stuff to this one

I just finished the bare hands challenge, and I just notice that you can one shot Red guys with fists if you punch them exactly when they shoot you, hard to time correctly but it happened to me a few times.

I noticed that too while i was doing the barehanded challenge, i wonder if it's a bug or intentional.

It really doesn't get in the way that much.

If it didn't I wouldn't be complaining.

But yeah, when the game is 80 minutes long, I guess it makes send to pad it with those things.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked it, just thought that removing my control every minute is annoying. It felt like playing spec ops again, "you are just a trained machine to kill you don't even notice what is happening to you". Even if the game is about it, it isn't something I like.

Just beat the game in 2 hours, and you know what.... it was fucking awesome. The story was damn good too :)

Then the credits kick in and Psy Pawlowa starts playing and I nearly lost my shit.

This is the most innovative shooter I've played in years.

LOL i did this too!!!!! hahahahaha I even have a proof! edit : ( inside next video ) xD

I just did a "creative" video about the Katana Challenge! Didnt sleep, but i had to get this done before.

If someone watch this, you can give feedback on the song, i took the "SUPER HOT" and tried to make a song. But maybe it's too much, lol, i think it fit the game. But maybe it get annoying lol. So i'm open to feedback good or bad! ( My english suck sorry )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ups1oVY81E

i will go sleep, but still hope for feedback if you are down to it ! ( i "monetize" my video, so sorry and get adsblock ready xD ). Gameplay wise, it's not thhhhhhat much good, but i think it's watchable!

Is there a trick to the skewer achievement? I've killed two dudes with one Katana throw, on the challenge level, and it didn't pop.

I notice also that there is an odd quirk, where if you get too close to an armed red dude, they don't shoot you. As soon as you step back, they raise their gun, but get close to them again and they drop it. Very strange.

There are some who don't like that the game is so meta, but I find it adds to the confrontational, subversive vibe of you not being in much control. Sure it doesn't feel as fresh as when quite a few shooters have gone for that same vibe (Hotline Miami, Spec Ops The Line, Bioshock), but I'm more inclined to like that relative to how a lot of shooters are. At least it's tongue-in-cheek and humorous about it rather than being po-faced.

I freakin loved the story and presentation. The font just screamed C64 to me, and the old fashioned chat room stuff brought me back to the early days of the internet and even the early Telnet boards I use to browse.

The story is not the greatest story of all times, but for a game likes this (and also given that I didn't expect there to be a story at all) it was fun and weird. Game is definitely better with it than it would be without it.

Anybody know how to get the "Deep Web" achievment?

Oh man, once you get to the point of having
hotswitch
in katana mode things get insaaaaane. Edit: Might be hard to tell what's going on,
I chucked the sword at the guy into the middle, hotswitched into the dude next to him, waited for the sword to reach middle guy and cut him in half, grabbed the sword out from behind him, and cut off the third dude's head
. Is there any way to upload replays with time slowed? Using the numpad to slow it down before hitting F5 doesn't seem to make a difference.

Let the 'ggroups' app run until it loops, probably about 10 minutes.

I left that on for a while and it just ended. There were no new conversations and I didn't get the achievment.

Did it actually loop? I think there's a solid 30 seconds or so of silence before it starts back at the beginning and I got the achievement at that point.
But I've also had general weirdness with the achievements in this, I got both the speedrun achievements even though I'm only around 30% through them.

It could've turned out cheesy, but they've made it work. The game picks up steam the longer it goes and ends on a strong (and amusing) note. Well done, I say.

It was fun, but after beating it, I don't have much of a desire to go back and play it. I tried the katana only challenge, and I just felt bored. I'm not a FPS fan, so that might not help, but the game didn't' grip me as well as I thought it would.

Personally a big appeal for me is the same as Hotline Miami, trying to clear levels in the smoothest, coolest-looking ways. And the Challenges actually make you a better player by limiting your moveset, forcing you to plan differently, be more aggressive, etc. Going back to the main levels after doing challenges, you see all kinds of strategies that you might not have considered the first time through

Man, the Speedrunrt thing is.....challenging

Same here. I can see people getting bored of it, but I enjoy the gameplay so much so the challenges are great because of the new rules and the endless mode keeps me entertained because it's just...well endlessly killing red guys.

Hmm. How do you unlock the hard mode in the final version? I only just realised I don't have it unlocked. In the review code it unlocked when you finished campaign. Actually I think I may have stated as much in the review, so I best get that fixed.
