No one has HD footage of this particular cutscene, not from what I know. It's a shame because I really want to see a glimpse of that Variel enemy design... he looks freakin' insane!

no i was talking about hd footage in general. I just got my high speed connection back yesterday. links please

If you want the DMC4 trailer, then I would go to the official DMC4 site. Link to site is also on the front page (first post that I made) at the top. There are other important links as well that you should check out.

Chk out PSINext for links to most/if not all of the vids from TGS Mr. Bringer sir
The game play footage was nice, the person at least knew how to play some DMC. The cutscene with the fire boss was nice, but too much of a cock tease.. =/ He looks really amazing in motion.

Oh and DMC4's particle effects are ABSURD! The part where the enemeis die in a fountain of green blood is just too cool. I hope there are similar effects for enemies with red blood... :D

Why do the DMC series have so many power ranger people doing the voice-overs and motion capture.

It makes sense, and it's a great idea really. But why power rangers specifically :lol

I love the concept of having one person do both the VA and Mo-cap for a character, kills 2 birds with one stone. Don't know the deal with the Power Rangers stuff, I guess these guys are cheap to hire, have great stunt choreography and do a decent enough job of acting at the same time.

So what is the general consensus of DMC4's TGS showing? Are you underwhelmed or blown away?

I expected more from a gameplay perspective but storywise it couldn't have been better. BTW I was disappointed about the fact that DMC has to become an anime series. I would have much preferred a full blown animated motion picture instead. But oh well... we'll have to wait for Capcom's Gamer Day in a few months for any chance of some new footage.

I am definitely stoked about the anime series, I mean it's being done by Madhouse for god's sakes. Capcom could not have picked a better animation studio for the job, they are the perfect studio for animating a DMC anime.

My impressions for DMC4 showing at TGS:

*Demo was far too bare bones to make a solid conclusion about the game play in DMC4. What was shown was great, but there was clearly a lot of things that weren't put in the game. Most of the controller wasn't even mapped, 7 moves at the most, like 2 types of enemies, not even a boss fight, 3 environments, 2 weapons ( a sword and a gun) and stuff. It was like a 10 minute demonstration essentially.

*Which brings me to the next point, the demo as stated by Capcom was a showcase of 2 things: The Devil Bringer and the graphics engine. Both things delivered IMO, Devil Bringer has potential in the combo department but it needs to convince me that it can compensate for the style system VERY well. So far it's solid as a singular style but we are talking about 6 styles to top here...

*Graphics were phenomenal, no complaint. Framerate, art, design, animation and textures were all sweet, and the cutscenes were CG level. A DMC running at full HD was joygasm to watch. Variel looked like a God, fire effects were some of the best in next-gen. Probably top 5 best game artistically speaking for next-gen, the environments were just.... OMFG. It probably doesn't grab a person's balls as much as something like GOW but once you pay attention to the details and the close ups, the next-gen power is all there.

*Trailer was great, but too short. Story is so far looking amazing, as long as the Nero tie in is good. Thank god Dante is a bad ass again. Nero's VA was a good choice (Johnny Bosch) but so far I am edgy about that princess girlfriend or whatever. Dante will be playable later in the game, I am like 99% sure of it so I am not worried at all. I just want a Vergil return, MAKE IT HAPPEN CAPCOM! :D The soundtrack is great as well, no complaints there either.

My only disappointment with DMC4's showing was that there wasn't enough of it. I needed a lot more to quench my thirst for DMC4 media. The TGS demonstration was a VERY EFFECTIVE cock tease, and I will be gnawing on to every single bit of DMC4 info from now on. :lol

Wait a min.... what makes you think Devil Bringer will replace the styles all together? it is still possible for styles + devil bringer to be integrated into the gameplay... *points at dpad*

EDIT: speaking of Devil bringer:
dmc4f.gif

I think it would be really cool if Capcom could somehow link the devil bringer with the tilt function of the PS3 controller. i.e. During that gif when Nero impales the marionette with Nelo's hand, right before he unleashes his volcanic buster the player can move the sixaxis to any direction and Dante could fling that marionette in that same direction... Just an idea.

It's a possibility, but it sounds more like Capcom is going for the integrated style thing. Your moves will not be split up like in styles, so you have better access to them. Don't now how they will use it though, but the L1 button is still unused and Nero doesn't use Devil Trigger...

It's more like Nero storing the power of fallen bosses into his Devil Arm and channeling the power into his sword/weapon as well. From the Gameinformer interview, Capcom made it clear that as of now Nero will not have a Devil Trigger, unless they change their mind in the development. This concept was not commented on, but the lighting on the devil arm and weapon is a dead giveaway. Capcom also confirmed that Nero is a human, and is not of Sparda progeny, which is why he can't physically Devil Trigger. His arm on the other hand, is definitely of devil origin.

The Devil Arm's right arm is a path to many great abilities, some considered to be UNNATURAL... :lol

You aren't disappointed that it only runs in 600p? :P

Yeah, it's cool. Bosch in particular is pretty busy. He provides a lot of voice work in alot of anime (Trigun, Bleach, Wolf's Rain) these days.

Oh yeah, check out some of his shit back with Koichi Sakamoto's stunt crew.

WTH are you serious?

DT was one of the greatest aspects of DMC1.... whenever you enterred in a tight spot you could just unleash DT and you obtain new attacks, amplified adamage, faster movements, and especially just using E&I to drive any marionette miles away. DMC3 did all of this except for the new moves.

That really sucks for Nero not having DT...

Capcom better have a superior alternative for that L1 button.

My guess is that the L1 button is going to be the new secondary move modifier button. It will allow you to access a higher amount of moves on your weapon, like that move you mentioned with the sword in the cutscene. According to IGN/Gamespot, it's the Acceleration button which ties in with the Red Queen (sword's name) functions.

Also just because Nero doesn't have DT, doesn't mean Dante won't.... ;)

Woah, that was some awesome choreography... the main dude was Bosch? I'm impressed.

Yeah, that was great. DMC4 should have some great choreography.

Also, since Dante recieved new weapons for (most of every) boss he defeated, it really makes sense that Nero gains new Devil Bringer abilities for every boss he defeats. Considering the arm "wants more power" etc.

As for DT, it seems Nero won't have one. But ultimately DT just offered a new junction to attack your opponents, this can be replaced with pretty much any set up, it just won't be called "Devil - Trigger"

BTW, the capcom dmc4 website usually updates every friday (jpn time) -- anything new?

I just finally got back my PC witht the rushes from TGS, so I'll be able to encode the promised 50 fps (PAL camcorder) videos of DMC4 this week-end. Sorry about the delay.

OH HELL YES!!!

I just realized my biggest problem with the game.

'Nero Must Die' mode doesn't have the same ring to it that 'Dante Must Die' does.

Ooh, videos...

:lol Guess you're right.

Only thing that kind of ticks me off about this game is how Nero feels really floaty and light (based off Blimblim's latest video). I hope they add some wieght to it, but if they don't it's understandable because it would probably take away from gameplay.

Neither was 'Vergil Must die' in DMC3 SE

The biggest problem with the game is ****ing Slammin' Beat crap that comes on the screen when you do a combo. Biggest distraction EVER!!!

It would be cool if they released a Limited edition of Dmc3, that came with a figurine and artbook and shit.

I hope they have a making of documentary too, its the kind of game i really wanna see devs talk about how they did this and that, what into the planning, and story and etc.

What codec do I need to see the 720 @ 50FPS on Blim's site?
Quote from the actual news...
The 720p versions use the WMV9 Advanced Profile codec (WVC1). If you are using XP SP2, simply follow the link on the video download page to install its latest version. If you are running another version of Windows, simply open the video with Windows Media Player and it should download another version of the Codec. MAC and other OS users should use the latest nightly builds of VLC.

ehi Blim, maybe that's been already asked but what's the blue bar on the top of the screen?

seems like the game is running on a Windows PC

:)

PS: tnx for the videos ;)

For the demonstration they ran it on an emulator so they can slow things down and play around with it.

didn't Capcom say (a couple of months ago or so) that they're new engine is running only on Xbox 360 and PC atm and that they're still working on the PS3 version?

maybe the PS3 version of the engine is not yet ready to be shown?

:)
