God, that is one ignorant post you made. How in the world is pure talent considered superficial? How many talents do YOU own that you would not deem superficial? By the way, you have a singer for an avatar? How's the hypocrite now?eXistor said:She has a good singing voice, so good for her, but jesus, everybody in this show (participants included) are hypocrits. Everyone is expecting to have a good laugh at her, everybody is against her (they even say this), but when it turns out she can sing (one superficial talent) everybody loves her. If she did put out a bad performance evreybody would just laugh at her, make her feel horrible and mock her.
I now know why I don't watch absolute drivel like this.

And staged or no, it's a fun-to-watch production because it challenges our expectations. This certainly doesn't top Paul "Yangus" Potts, though.
PRO TIP: The BGT auditions are not recorded live; as with the American Idol auditions this stuff was probably recorded ages ago. I think Cowell staggers his schedule so the live shows don't clash but yeah there's still a lot of insane traveling when you're judging three shows (don't forget The X-Factor) on both sides of the Atlantic, which is why he's been talking about quitting Idol after his contract is up next year. Or more likely he knows that Idol is fucked if he quits (seriously, it's hard to imagine the show without him, unlike any of the other utterly disposable judges) so he's playing games to frighten Fox in advance of renegotiating his contract.Angry Grimace said:My question is more how does Simon get from England to the US every week to do both of these shows; how can you possibly live doing 2x 20 hour flights every week![]()

He's on record as saying it might be but I suspect it could be just a negotiating ploy.madara said:Yeah crazy schedule. Is this season of AI the last for Simon?

I find it hard to believe that anything is genuine on these fucking "reality" shows.
peach said:I know that it's great that she can sing and is talented, but how sad is it that the media made it so incredibly surprising that someone who is not 'mainstream good looking' can actually have talent.
They film the judges on seperate cameras and while editing they'll add more camera shots for a more effective feel of awkwardness. It's just the fact that they overused the shots make it looked stage, especially since you know that she's not going to suck and "pwn" the showNolan. said:Yup, I expected it as soon as she walked on and looking the judges reactions from there up to her singing.

FitzOfRage said:I don't quite understand all the people saying it's staged. It's a TV show. A production crew didn't bump into each other in the mall and just decide to ambush a random person walking by.
I mean what was your first clue it was staged? The stage?
But unless they found a hot singer 9 months prior and put her on the Charlize Theron Monster diet, I don't think it matters.

Timedog said:This kind of shit is awful. Wow, someone who acts weird and is not attractive can sing well. Are we so warped by marketing and hollywood that it's honestly a surprise that someone who doesn't have a tv face is talented enough to do what beautiful+talented people on tv do?
Exactly.Timedog said:This kind of shit is awful. Wow, someone who acts weird and is not attractive can sing well. Are we so warped by marketing and hollywood that it's honestly a surprise that someone who doesn't have a tv face is talented enough to do what beautiful+talented people on tv do?
Someone that auditioned for a talent tv show is talented. WHO WOULD'VE THOUGHT?
Anyone watch tonights show? That last kid has just but to bed any doubts of this show being at least somewhat staged. No WAY can it be a coincidence that Simon tells the kid to stop singing the song he chose, and he just so happens to have a backup all ready (which was a million times better). Kid was awesome, but it just felt far too scripted for TV

There are jokes begging to me made. It is taking a lot of self control to resist.TheGreatDave said:I was in the same class as a guy from One True Voice, the terrible pop band that were crushed by the sexy might of Girls Aloud.
Also, did somebody just call Amanda Holden hot?
