SW FU Demo: When is it up?

I just found a one month-goldcard in my cupboard, so I downloaded it. And I quite like it. But the control feels a little clumsy and I want to slash stormtroopers apart. :(

People who are complaining about the controls feeling clunky.....just give some time for insight to set in. Go through multiple playthroughs and things will gradually start to become second nature and you'll be thinking of more of how to handle a situation....not how to control it

The biggest yuck-yuck for me is locking on with RB ala DMC4 on 360....doesn't feel right and that's why I can't wait to play the Playstation3 version

Is that lock on? I was trying to figure out what it was while playing. I guess I won't be using lock on! Not holding RB. Hurts mah fingas

yep...hence wait for the proper DMC edition later today
But yeah, combat is certainly what you make it. In that, it can be as minimalist and to the point, or it can be as elaborate as you want it to be.

I honestly have more of an Advent Rising vibe from this one, rather than Jedi Outcast....which for me, is all kinds of fucking wonderful :D

It's surprisingly a lot better than I expected. It's a pity we can't see the skill tree or what kind of upgrades we can get in the demo. I think I'm now pretty excited for this game. When is it coming again?

You can toggle it between hold and click in the options menu at least.

The demo was mostly enjoyable. This is shaping up to be a solid rental; I just don't see much long-term replay-ability.

I probably won't get around to play the demo any time soon, so here's a quick question:

How is the combination-based experience gathering handled in the demo?

In the 'massacre' game play videos the apprentice hurled a giant box (?) at a group of enemies that died in a blast of fire and debris and the apprentice immediately gained more that half of the experience bar. I kind of want to know whether this will turn into a game breaker early on for me...

No health packs or regenerating health it seems....Health is gained from enemies....don't know if more flair gains you more health

Nasty camera, floaty controls, rooms with stormtroopers and random boxes galore. I can see it getting pretty repetitive. Perhaps a rental or cheap ebay purchase.

Meh.... this is more Episode III tie-in game than Jedi Knight. Albeit Episode III with greater production values.

16 Sept for US, 17th Sept for SE Asia

I'm not a Star Wars kinda guy so this game wasn't on my radar at all, but the demo was pretty darn fun actually. I don't think I'll buy it, but I might give it a rent.

Lots of fun to grab a dude and just twist him around. Euphoria physics FTW.

Eh, seems alright, hardly anything particularly interesting. I'll see how the PSN version is, as I think my 360 might be broke as I was getting loads of graphical errors, and it crashed a few times.

I had some issues with the controls but it was a lot of fun.

I wish they would have taken more of a cue from PsiOps with regards to the Force Grab controls. It sucks that you can't walk and grab at the same time.

Cheers. I'm writing a preview and I just didn't know what the damn people were called :P

The rebel alliance doesn't exist when the game takes place - they're militia fighting with an old jedi, but they're not the "Rebel Alliance".

Noooooooo! My evil scheme in ruins! :o

Madden was available for silver users on day one, I wonder if someone at Lucas Arts will 'ask' if it can be made available to everyone. Although saying that, its another month before release yet... plenty of time for it to hit the silver members.

The Demo is fun as hell...Day 1 for sure. I can see Myself playing this Demo lots until the release. Im actually even more hyped for the Game now then I was before. Cannot Wait until September 16th.

The graphics and physics are excellent, no framedrops and very little tearing when tie fighters are trying to shoot you. Throwing a barrel out a window in the beginning and seeing nearby things being sucked out is really cool.

The controls are a bit clunky, though. And so is the gameplay, you're essentially either trying to bludgeon people with a glorified wooden stick or you're throwing barrels at people, which is a clunky process in itself.

I thought fighting the at-st at the end was initially really cool, but essentially having to focus on the QTE location so you press the right button takes you out of the experience. If it weren't for me seeing gameplay videos from E3, all I would know about this scene (even after playing it) is that you press something and the at-st is chopped in half. I couldn't really take in and watch the scene itself because I was distracted with a shitty game mechanic.

I do want to play the whole game though, but I likely won't buy it (wasn't planning to do so to begin with).

Does Anyone that has now played the Demo still have doubts about the Game being too easy? I tried the Demo on the 3rd highest difficulty(Sith Warrior I think) and I died midway through. Maybe I just suck right now but it should be a challenging Game.

I like that...

The demo was a lot of fun. My only main problem with it is that targeting things to pick up with force powers is more problem filled than it needed to be.

I also wish there was a way where you could pick up objects, have only the horizontal axis of that object controlled with the right stick, then still be able to move with the left.

For those wondering about the difficulty, I'm pretty sure the demo has amped up the force powers you have access to in comparison to what you should have on that level.

Does this game have online co-op?

No. All versions, except the wii, has any form of multiplayer.

But the Wii version doesn't have any online multiplayer. Only local.

As expected I really enjoyed my playthrough. Altough the difference in difficulty between normal and hard is a bit to much. Normal should've been in between those two, and hard should've been just like it is.
I'm really curious to see what kind of upgrades you can get. First day purchase

Did anyone else search for the force choke button when lifting an enemy in the air? :lol I was pressing everything to find out where it was, unfortunately I think you can only use it with Vader himself in the game :(

Wasn't really impressed by this at all. The targeting system makes the OLD gta games' system look good.

The force powers are ok, but I just got bored fast. Throwing a guy around or throwing crates at people is only fun for so long. The force grip control is needlessly complex. I think it would have been better if whatever you gripped stayed at a set distance and you could just aim it with the right stick and still move with the left.

And my god, the AT-ST fight is a perfect demonstration of why QTE's suck.

Another small annoyance is when I was slashing a guy with my saber near the edge the animations would carry me off the edge.

PSP version has 4 player Multiplayer battles different from its Wii counterpart, Local Only :)

Seems like it would make a nice weekend rental. The demo didn't offer enough variety in the combat situations or hints of prowess progression to warrant an instant pre-order.

The lightsaber combat feels like an afterthought in comparison to force abilities, which in itself are really cool, but without any feeling of heft or destruction in swinging the blade there leaves a gaping disconnect. Flinging about crates and troopers works well enough and is the player's greatest asset in this demo; to the fault of making lightning, melee, and push come across as meager. Why chip enemy health away with multiple saber swings and pushes when you can just telekinesis anything to death?

The final encounter was a bright spot, but the QTE really isn't necessary when the player had spent the last twenty minutes tossing Tie fighters at infantry.

I've only entered here because my subliminal perception constantly gets a "ST FU" message while I scroll in the topic list and I'm starting to get subliminally pissed off.

most star wars games have been pretty shitty apart from kotor so I'm not too psyched, I'm prolly ownly interested because the apprentice was in soul calibur.

So why don't you go play it then?

You get the charge force-push half way through the demo, and the trailer at the end showed loads of abilites you don't have in the demo.

Star Wars actually has a large number of amazing games. I would go as far as to say that more have been good than bad, and that is by a large margin. This is all assuming you played the PC games and weren't stuck with the poor console games.
