SW FU Demo: When is it up?

Star Wars actually has a large number of amazing games. I would go as far as to say that more have been good than bad, and that is by a large margin. This is all assuming you played the PC games and weren't stuck with the poor console games.

The SNES JVC trilogy games were pretty good as well.

So the demo has screen tearing? ;/ I hope they fix that in the release.. thats the one thing I hate about in graphics departments

My personal favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZvFFxsVCTY

On a more on topic note, I am looking forward to throwing around stormtroopers after work today. Been waiting on this ever since that tech demo where they threw little R2s at wooden planks.

Well his name is painey :lol

But seriously, anyone seen any differences between 360 and PS3 version? Also was it confirmed to not have trophies?

Played through the demo twice.

The second time was much more fun, if only because I noticed the combos listed in one of the loading screens. Adding lightning or a force push in combo with saber attacks made the game feel that much more over the top, and that much more fun.

I was planning on cancelling the preorder and renting it through GameFly, but after that second playthrough I may buy it.

My botom line:

Controlling the force is fun but could use some work...camera is too slow, and I hope that the whole game isn't just combat.

From Too Human to 10, I give it a 7. (lmao @ that, btw)

After playing the Demo a couple more times, I really really wish they wouldve added Multiplayer to the Game. Play through the Story, Level your Character Up, and bring him into the Multiplayer Arena to battle against others. The fights would be so much fun.

Wow. It's so so so fun. I only have one issue so far. Sometimes when you force push doors open, even when there is a gap that is big enough for the apprentice to go through, sometimes you have to open it even wider. Not a big deal though.

Yeah.... :/

Downloading it now on the PS3, trying to get a feel for the game since I am going to get the Wii version so I can have No More Heroes style controls

I really enjoyed the demo, graphics were slick and I didn't notice any tearing(although I'm sure it's there) and the force was great. I will buy this~

Yeah, I used to play the living hell out of the heroes mode in Battlefront 2, and that was with bots.

'May the Force blow your mind'

Just played it. If feels a little clumsy here and there. But overall I really 'digg' what they did with the force power. I will buy the full game day one unlike Too Human - which I won't buy... ever.
At the risk of being hipocritical - I picked up too human after playing at my bro-in-laws. It is EXTREMELY fun - much better than the demo in regards to context & scope... animation sucks ass...

In regards to SW:FU (interesting abbreviation) - it seems 'rough'...

That was pretty awesome. Camera is pretty unwieldy but the rooms are big and open, so it wasn't too bad.

Definite rent, it seems like it may get stale and repetitive, but the full game may mix it up more. It already gives you the charge force push partway through, so hopefully by the end of the game combat has a lot more options.

I had more fun the second playthrough, actually lowering the difficulty level so I could play around more. It's decent fun, but still nothing more than a rental.

I kinda think the controls are horrendous. You can't block while moving, so being hit by enemy fire is unavoidable in some situations. I don't think you could even deflect lasers (at least consistently) by slashing with the lightsaber.

Played the 360 demo a bit.

AT-ST kept killing me :(

This game is fun.

I'm installing the PS3 demo now, will try it in a few minutes...

Second playthrough is definitly much better. Only gripe I have for now is not being able to move while blocking, but that may become an upgrade later. On the flip side, that also could break the game if it deflects everything, so I dunno.

Just played it over lunch. Not sure what to think. It isn't really bad by any means, but it just lacks a certain "something". Nothing about the gameplay really grabbed me as none of the systems feel particularly tight. Perhaps it will take time to master, but the way it works now makes it seem as if you are never really equipped to take on large groups properly. When you face a group of enemies, there's little you can quickly pull out to dispose of them all at once (as far as I could tell). The actual combat itself isn't particularly satisfying either and the encounters feel overly repetitive.

Really, though, there's nothing WRONG with the game, it just doesn't excite.

The game is MUCH more polished than Too Human, however...

Try throwing Force powers in your saber combos to mix things up a bit.

A roll move would make this game so much more enjoyable. As it is, your best evasive maneuver is Block > Jump. So you hop around looking like an idiot. :lol

It's much better than expected though. Could be a great guilty pleasure game. On the other hand, I feel like a few more minor changes could've pushed it up to God of War territory.

The demo was disappointing, but I'll play through it a second time later just to make sure. This is a game that I just want to like so much. It felt very very rough and kind of ugly. The camera was awful. The force and the combos involving it were pretty awesome but not enough to save this game for me at the moment. I'll definitely be scrutinizing the game play of later areas in videos once the reviews hit.

For a game that has been so long in the can as this, there really is no excuse for the controls to be the utter utter shit that they are.

The actual Force Gripping of all kind of shit is nifty, but flawed from the original promise of "feeling the force". When ripping a Tie Fighter from its rack, I expect sparks and shit to start rumbling rather that it just popping off and exploding with little effect on the area or enemies. Trying to move stuff is so slow, that normally you just say fuck it and go bash the x button at things. Having to manually aim the object with two different sticks during an assault against things firing you is a retarded design decision. It feels like I am moving an object round in 3ds max without a mouse, not playing a game.

The normal lightsaber combat manages to be an unfocussed God of War clone, which is disappointing since JK2: Jedi Outcast had lovely lightsaber play almost a decade ago now. The QTE implementation was the worst I've ever seen in a game because it starts so quickly after you finish an attack combo, its quite likely youve already pressed a button and thus failed it.

TFU is going to suffer from being a next-gen game that took FAR too long to bring to the boil, as it should have been released 1 or 2 years ago.

I feel like I should be loving this game... but it just doesn't feel that great.

Lock onto your target, then hit dash + a direction to do an evade...

oh right, I forgot about the force dash.

were people really expecting much more? for a 3rd person action game from a western dev, I'm actually pretty impressed. :lol

Jedi Outcast isn't THAT old, you know. It came out in 2002! Jedi Knight is more than a decade old, however, but it actually has pretty lame saber combat (by todays standards, of course).

If you compare this to titles like God of War of course you are going to be disapointed.

If you compare it to the recent 3rd person SW action games, you will be impressed.

Isn't this (one of?)the first game(s) to use DMM? It's pretty subtle, but if you mess around you can see some of the effects. In a space ship level like this it doesn't show it off as well as some of the other levels likely will though.

As Ive stated, A Must Buy for Me...im really really enjoying the Demo but I have a couple complaints. I could see the Targeting System getting alittle annoying when there is alot going on and the Enemy AI doesnt seem to impressive. Not horrible by any means but could use some work. Like I said, I wish there was some kind of MP for Xbox Live Play...would be a freakin blast.

60fps and a scoring system would be nice too.

The havoc physics engine also leaves its mark on this one-- feels like you're hitting air. There's no impact and everything feels kinda floaty.

If you use the target lock you can do an evasive roll.

Now that I've played both demos...I don't know what version to get.

This is the closest PS3/360 game I've seen. I can't see/notice a difference at all.
