I just got a note from someone with a new piece of Stationary. It seems you can only get it if someone else sends it to you. pretty bananas!

Oh I did not know it was only available like that! I had better spam everyone on my FC list with it then!

It's from a New Years Swapnote that Nintendo sent out in Japan. Once you receive it, you get the stationary to use for yourself. And if you send it to someone else, they get it to use as well, regardless of their region. So I guess that makes this the first Swapnote DLC.

No. I got notes with stationaries I haven't bought yet, and they're still locked. This is for stationaries which aren't listed anywhere. It's likely that notes can contain attached stationaries too, so they are probably not hidden in the software and Nintendo can add as many new ones as they want, virally.

okay so i got the stationary, no idea how to use it! thanks again jimbojones, and also, your drawings are awesome but how the hell are you getting sound effects into them?! shit's killing me, haha

You unlock the ability to use different stationary and add audio sample to your notes as you use Swap Note more. Hint: send more original notes from you to other people. Just replying to theirs doesn't seem to unlock stuff.

I love this app, I've had way too much fun in it over the last few days creating a few short comics that make me LOL.

But before I add my FC to the mix(I'm sure most people don't have anymore room), I just want to know who is supplying all the best swapnote messages?

I stopped all gaming for this app, effectively making my 3DS a $169 SwapNote machine. So fun!

Me too! My 3DS has become a Swap Note and Pullblox machine with the odd few levels of SM3DL for variety [but mostly because that happens to be the game cart already in the system].

No, as long as someone sends you a note with the stationary you get it for free. So go PM some gaf members until they get annoy.

The two shouldn't be exclusive. No OS-level messaging is annoying and should be rectified, but this is something quite different.

I took a bunch of photos of the Bellagio fountains, but I didn't want to send too many cuz it'd be spammy.

Is there any way to confirm that your message has been sent? I got a message, and I tried to respond. When I look at the "chain" of letters, there's still a "Send" bubble over my reply. I already sent it, I thought.

I sent by Spotpass, and even checked my Spotpass delivery but it said there was nothing to send. Was it already sent? Will the message get a blue border when it's sent or when it's received?

How does Nintendo make this so complicated?

You save messages to your sim card. The send button simply sends them. You can send as many times as you want. The bubble means that there was a reply to the original note.

When you try to send again, people that already received the message will have an envelope next to their name!

I just wrote a note and sent it and after exiting Swap Note I realized the wifi switch was off. I turned the wifi switch on and left the 3DS in sleep for a while, and seems my note got sent after all. I always though the app could only send data directly, but it seems SpotPass can be used to upload data in background in the same way it can download even if the app isn't running.

It'll be cool when games start using such features for sharing user-created content.
