It's not so much as the US has fallen far behind as it has never really strived for what we have.

You have to keep in mind that the USA is a very young nation that hasn't even had a proper socialist/worker revolution yet. Once that happens I'm sure that they'll achieve many of the things that many European countries have achieved.

I have excellent health care and insurance coverage that I pay a very modest amount for that serves me well. The changes to American health care have already negatively impacted me by adding unnecessary complications to FSA accounts (redundant, I know).

The whole farce being Europeans are still paying for health care, they just do it upfront through their taxes. I don't need someone to take a cut of my money to ensure I'll responsibly take care of myself.

So because you have "excellent" health care, the 50 million uninsured, i.e. nearly 17% of the country, don't deserve reform? Nice.

But I guess I should feel badly for you because you can't buy aspirin from your FSA without a prescription. I guess that's too tall a price to pay for free preventative care, elimination of rescissions, and no lifetime limits on coverage.

This is actually false. You pay about double for your health care what somebody in Europe would pay. There is no way to avoid that cost, it is how much health care in the US costs because of the unregulated and unrestrained for-profit delivery system we use. You may not notice this, because much of those costs are probably coming out of your salary before you ever see it.
