Switch already the best selling item of 2017 on Amazon US

Zelda is big but not that big of a seller, games like Destiny, Red Dead, COD etc.. and many more dwarf it. Everything sells well at launch wii-u did too. It means nothing. Casuals are not buying 300 console for 1-2 games this year in big numbers.

Look up Zelda sales numbers, it's not as big as you think. There is no hook for the casuals to buy this, it is not a wii, that time has gone. The genral public are nt going to rush out and buy this, when they are playing games on 500+ million phones and tablets that cost 2 bucks.

People often forget, Twilight Princess, a game available on 2 consoles, one of which ended it's life at 100 million units sold, has a lifetime sales of 8.85m across both platforms. To believe that suddenly BotW is going to turn into Destiny/Cod number is hilarious. Also, twilight princess is the best selling zelda game

They will sell as many as they can produce this year. All reactions to people actually using the device has been overwhelmingly positive. It's only on forums that people are hugely skeptical. My prediction; if they make 10 million this year, they'll sell 10 million. If they make 15 million they'll sell that many.
To add some perspective, you've just used 10m and 15m as very rosy projections for Switch sales. But if Nintendo make and sell 10m units, they will be outsold by Sony. If they manage 15m, they might still be outsold by Sony.

The task is harder than you think.

Why buy PSN cards from amazon, anyway? At that point, shouldn't you just buy from the PSN store itself? PSN does accept bank cards now, you know.

Just wondering: Are there any numbers on sales of the HD Remaster on the Wii U? I suppose those numbers could also be added into the total sales of Twilight Princess as the best selling Zelda game but I'm not sure it would bump the total sales number too high above 10m.

One-click ordering, man! Literally one click and I have a digital code that I can copy/paste into the PS Store webpage and be done. Besides, I prefer to keep the number of sites and services I store my banking information on to a minimum.

People who don't want to put their credit card on their PSN account/people with amazon credit.

With the PSN's notoriously bad security and their weird problems with accepting credit cards sometimes, no. It's far easier to just buy codes in Amazon and stick them in.

Plus you know, I save like a penny on each one. A penny saved is a penny earned or whatever.

Umm...they don't want to use their bank cards with PSN hence buying them from Amazon.

Not that I can find, the number I got was from 2015 from Nintendo, they have not updated numbers since the wii u hd remaster

Zelda TP HD hasn't entered the million sellers club as of last October. Very low chances it will ever do that.

Quick, GAF is negative about the switch, make a positive thread!

Come on OP it's been two weeks, what else noteworthy has launched in 2017 on Amazon US gaming?

Quick, someone posted a positive and somewhat dumb post about the switch, let's get 300 negative posts in to squash that!

no VR didnt sell like hotcakes at all.

And Wii U in Jan was basically done selling in large quantities

Hahahahahahaha

oh boy

based on comments i´ve seen here i thought it would flops big time and not top any best sellers list so this was a surprise for me, specially because the high price but hey let´s see how it will go from here.

Almost all consoles will have a decent launch of a few hundred thousand units. Nothing came out in JAN yet, PSN didn't even have game releases for like two weeks straight.

This is sales for a pre order on a new system. What is it that you simply don't get?

For the price and for the games, people are saying the Switch could have low sales. DOA is a term they use wrong no doubt and no one really knows how it will sell overall but with the price/lack of software apparently, it will be difficult.

That's some Reggie level spin.

So if they only sell 1 million throughout the year it's because they only made 1 million right? How convenient

I mean I don't want to say it won't sell well at launch ( most consoles put up decent numbers during launch), but I don't see how it's indicative of much

US only
fist month NPD numbers

not worldwide

In the US? LOL no.

Haha. I think you need to look at first month sales of every platform in history. Those numbers are US only.

Shit, my b. Even still it should be well over a million if PS4 is selling close to that in a relatively slow month. Remember, Switch is releasing on the 3rd so it will basically have 4 weeks of sales by then.

Edit: Of course, Nintendo's shipment numbers will be hard to predict considering their history.

Wow! Nintendo is saved. They are going to continue this best selling Amazon trend for the remainder of the months in 2017 & 2018, clearly.

People still think Switch will do as bad as WiiU, they are not realizing that Nintendo has once again the attention of people who don't really play Videogames. Friends and family who don't care about games are talking about buying the Switch. This didn't happen with WiiU at all,. people didn't even know it was a new console back then.

No way!!!

We're two weeks into 2017 and preorders for the Switch just started yesterday...if it WASN'T the best selling item then I'd be more intrigued.

Man I want the Neon joy cons. They look ugly on the system. But I like the red player/ blue player look when using it for multiplayer. Too bad they sold out.

Can't wait for new colors/themes.

If this isn't shitposting I don't know what it is.
Maybe he's related to Marco Rubio?

Man. I would have thought it would have at least sold 1m but to not even get that high? Ouch.

Just because they're talking about it doesn't mean they're going to buy. Remember, what sold the Wii wasn't pre-release buzz or even their wonky "Wii would like to play" marketing campaign, it was competitive pricing and Wii Sports as a free title showing off what the system could do. Initial people bought the system, showed it off to their non-gaming family and friends, and it took off from there.

Switch, for any positive talk about it right now:
- Is beyond the level of impulse buy, especially if someone wants accessories.
- Includes nothing that showcases the system to generate word-of-mouth marketing.
- Has a limited launch line up that really only benefits Nintendo die hards; and
- Is not exactly kid friendly with small, easy to lose (and potentially easy to break), expensive to replace joy-cons and a tablet that looks far too fragile to hand off to a 6 year old to play.

This sounds pretty anecdotal. Then again, anecdotally I can say my dad has interest in buying the system at some point, so I get what you are referring to, but it doesn't prove anything right now, sadly, at least not until we get some statistical research about awareness to compare with the WiiU.

That's funny, because none of the friends/family around me that played video games casually and actually bought Wii's know what the hell Switch even is. It is the exact same WiiU scenario in their case. Anecdotal evidence, how does it work(?)

Source?

What does this mean for Resident Evil? Much cheaper and fresh new impressions... Nice for Switch as I think some of the negativity is ridiculous and sad at the sams time.

I don't think anyone seriously believes it won't sell well at launch. Hell, realistically it'll top the tracking charts in every region for the month of march. The issue here is 1, if it can do the numbers the other guys did on launch (remember, the ps4 and the one came out of the gate fast) and if it can sustain it.

Let's see if they can do 1 million in the first 24h like the ps4

I don't have a source of course, it's just friends and family, everyone who talks about it fully realize this is a new console. But maybe it's just the people around me yeah.

This is what happened with the WiiU back when it came out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEJRURH2xiM

I see two completely different mindsets. I think it will do a lot better than WiiU.
