Switch emulator yuzu progress

Paper Mario has only been out for a couple of days, and they already have it running at 60 fps. It looks pretty much perfect:

I think BotW2 being fully playable at release is pretty much a given. Personally, I'm more interested in a 60 fps Bayonetta 3 (those types of action heavy games are just the worst at 30 fps)

Its amazing what they can do now.

If you own a Switch can you legally emulate it, buy the games and put them in your PC? (Like you can on PS2).

How does DLC/multiplayer work? (Like say Smash). Any word on games like Deadly Premonition 2 and Ultimate Alliance 3? 😁

EDIT: Doh just realised Switch doesn't use discs 🙈🙈

Just realised?!?!

imagine trying to put a disc into that thing. You'd have to force-feed it!

I actually had a Switch up to Mario Odyssey as well, no excuses 😂

How do you get the games on your PC then? Just download them? (legally if you own the game).

Honestly I have no idea but from a very quick Google it seems that there's some software you can download which transfers the game files from the game cart onto the SD card that goes in the Switch and then you can transfer from the SD Card to your PC.

I'll be on Ebay "looking for a cracked beat up Switch that possibly doesn't work, ideally with chips and marks (but not essential) $10-$20 😂

Good to see the demo working so well - it's possible that the game itself will work on launch. I hope they can do a 60fps framerate mod though. This kind of action-heavy game needs more than 30.

Nice to see some progress on modern emulators. Some might say that it's piracy and illegal but to me it's the best way of conservating this games for the future.

I can get Cemu to work very well on my PC but Yuzu just won't cut it on mine for now. Can only ever get 20Fps and I've tried all the tricks to get it to run faster.

It must still be an absolute CPU hog. Unless you have an absolute beast of a PC these this is still a no go emulator.

It has a long way to go before Cemu levels of quality.

Well i've seen BOTW on Cemu at 4k/60fps and it's the way the game should be experienced by everybody. Nintendo made the game run like shit for their tablet.

Its glorious. Not like the ps4 1080p to 4k glorious jump either. Even more because BoTWs image is so soft on Switch.

Agreed I'd recommend trying it if you have the means.

I can't quite get it to 60fps but around 45fps and 60 is the shrines but even at 1080p the game is stunning.

What kind of PC would you need to run everything on Yuzu at 1080p 60fps? Some NGC games can barely hold 30fps on Dolphin already...

It's not just a way of conserving games for the future, for the Switch it's the best way of playing the games today. People with powerful PCs will probably be playing BotW2 at 4K 60fps on day one, instead of 720p 30 fps on the Switch. I would say that Nintendo-only players will get to experience the games like this on a Nintendo platform 5-10 years from now, but looking at the recent Mario 3D collection, they will probably just get a low-effort 30fps emulated version instead.

Does anyone know, is it possible to rip the games directly from the cartridge to PC yet, or do you still need a Switch?

I completely agree. IMO games that don´t run at the native resolution look like shit on the Switch

That video looks waaaaaaaaaay jankier than the 30 fps average implies, is it cos of the frame pacing, I see the graph is constantly changing.

What CPU + GPU do you have?

I could run it at 8K on my GTX 1080 but with my CPU at 4.4Ghz it wasn't enough for 60, more like ~50 (Same fps at 1080p, 4K, 6K, 8K so assuming it was the CPU) so I decided to leave it until its locked 60.

I'm guessing I need closer to 5Ghz to keep 60 all the time (except those two problems areas).

That's because it is piracy and illegal that people use the excuse of "conservation" .
Look lets be real, most people that use these emulators download them illegally and don't rip them directly from a Switch.
Wether you think it's morally OK to do it is another story.
You could use that argument if the Switch was still not in production but it's still available.

Yeah, but it will not be in production some day, so the sooner they got the emulator running, the better.
Specially with Nintendo and their habit of closing their eshops.

You can say that about everything doesn't mean it still not pirating or illegal.
Switch will be around for a while the way its selling and expect the Switch 2 as well

It's not illegal if I own the game.
Eitherway I don't see what point you are trying to make here, sorry.

The fact that the Switch is is still in production and will be for a while , the conservation excuse is very weak.
Fair enough. My point is that a console doesn´t need to be discontinued to start caring about it's conservation but hey, to each their own.

A big upgrade, fixing lots of previous texture and rendering problems (I don't know how people played Xenoblade 2 before with all that weird texture switching):

Emulation developers are not even clarifying if they own the games themselves, especially the persons that contribute code

Why should players and testers do the same?

So I can sell my Switch now ?

JK, I likely never get rid of it once Nintendo is done with it the emulation on it will be one of the best ever for handheld.

But without piracy and testing emulators would not have reached that state, especially for the rarer games

Unless everyone owns that super rare copy of the game that was sold for 10000usd on ebay
So your saying if you steal something but nobody sees you it's not really stealing ....:messenger_weary::messenger_ok:
Whatever excuse you want to use.

Ugh, Nintendo fanboys and their irrational hatred for emulators.... smh

Actually this one is pretty understandable to be uncomfortable about. The Switch is currently in production, you have plentiful access to the actual hardware and its software. If you plan on using this emulator while this is the case, if you don't own a Switch, don't own any one these games and play them through a PC... Well, what does that make you? Conversely, how can you justify public access to a software designed to circumvent multiple commercially available intellectual properties?

This isn't a slippery slope or taboo topic. This is straight up piracy. This is not an attempt to backseat moderate, this is simply my opinion as an user. I think this thread should be locked. I think it's straight up condoning piracy. I don't know how to look at it any other way. I have homebrew on a fuckload of hardware, I absolutely love no-intro sets and what they represent for the industry, I'm huge about games preservation and I'm very critical about the lack of effort by every console manufacturer Nintendo included. But this? This is shit.

No, it is not piracy??? Yuzu does not have anything to do with Nintendo software. That is why Nintendo can't legally shut down the project.
