Switch-Gaf, did the Arms Nintendo Direct change your mind on the game?

I've gotta say that I still don't really know how it works or how the different strategies come into play, but it looks so incredibly polished and creative that I can't help but love it and want it.

And that Splatoon 2 bit at the end gave me 2015 goosebumps all over again.

Was thinking the exact same thing. I love the thought put into all the character designs. I'm not normally a fighting game fan but this looks really fun and accessible.

Yes. Went from 100% day 1 to maybe, but probably on sale.

I was hoping for a Splatoon 1 like singleplayer experience. Will need to see more of the Tutorial mode before i buy.

I wasn't going to buy it before, now there is a chance. I'll need to play it first and have a look at the price but it's certainly looking a lot more appealing than it once did.

I'm semi-interested, in fact much more so now. I'll definitely play the Testpunch, but because I'm more of a single player gamer, I'll probably end up not buying the game.

To be fair, I felt and did the exact same with the first Splatoon, but now I'm going to buy the sequel, so maybe I'll end up getting the ARMS sequel lol.

I've been interested since demoing it during the Switch tour back in the Winter, but with Arms, I wanted to make sure it plays well with pro controller. If it's fine there during the Test Punch, I'm in Day 1. If not, I might wait a bit for review impressions.

I don't get the obsession with people demanding a fully fledged single player campaign?

Like Mario Kart has no campaign at all yet everyone seems to be fine with it... it's all about the online and local multiplayer. Aren't most fighting games like this anyway???

I know it would've been nice to have but still

Not particularly.
When I first seen it announced it felt like it may have been a sort of one off tech demo to try and sell the system, though I sorta felt the same with splatoon and still sorta do and seems like a franchise now, not that I don't like it.
They are doing a testpunch though so they have every chance to change my mind on it which I'll for sure try out. At this point though, it's something to get when cheaper of ever.

I'm not fan of fighting games, but this game got my attention. It looks pretty fun.

And looks like that we can workout our arms while we play it, haha.

Main reason why I'm somewhat interested in getting it. As a work out type of game, like Just Dance. Not really interested from competitive standpoint

Oñi would love a Mario Kart singleplayer with bosses and coins and stuff 😍

New modes got my interest (SLAM DUNK!) and I'm glad they announced the Testpunch, so I will definitely be trying it out a good bit to determine if I'll buy it or not.

A game based around pivoting left and right and throwing constant punches seems really dumb and simplistic to be a new competitive powerhouse. I'll wait till the Global Test to pass final judgement, but the gameplay and movement seems too limited. Having said that, I hate Splatoon (and 2 after the Test Fire) so maybe i'm just old, cynical, and not willing to learn new gameplay mechanics. Loving the visual aesthetics and music though...classic Nintendo.

For me, it's really hard to get a grip on how it plays from a video. I think after the test fire, I'll know if I like the mechanics.

Graphics and characters look great

Gameplay seems great for local MP fun

Online is a wild card

Still not sold since I'll be mostly playing in handheld mode. I get the game supports traditional controls, but it seems designed around the motion joycons.

As of now I'm gonna pass and wait for Splat 2, but I'm interested in trying to Test Fire to change my mind.

PS: Wish we'd get something single player focused from Nintendo. The seemingly big ass gap between Zelda and Mario is kinda annoying.

I'd adore another kart racer with an adventure mode like Diddy Kong Racing.

Its because I can enjoy racing games without campaigns but history shows I can't with fighters. Simple really.

Just don't like playing fighting games online.

Also let's be real Mario kart needs a story mode for 9.

I guess you never played Punch Out!!, huh

No real story mode so nope no buy sadly:/ pretty bar bones in modes and characters too.
The content ingame is really sparse imo even Smash Bros 4 beats it.

It's not this game in particular. It's more Kart, Arms, and Splat see all MP focused. If are done with Zelda and looking for something else to play SP wise from Nintendo you gonna be waiting a while for Mario.

How the game controls will make or break it for me. I don't want to use motion controls, and I don't really like the POV/camera in the game, so I'm skeptical but I'll really just have to try it.

No, I just don't like boxing and I still don't like motion-control boxing (even if you can use normsl controls.. it's invented for motion).

It's just not my kind of game.

I have to admit, i blew it off when i first saw it as low effort/filler game for the Switch, especially when it was just vanilla spring man and ribbon girl

but now as more info comes out i feel my mind converting as I did with Splatoon, and now i'm as excited for this game as I am Splatoon 2.

There's so much personality and love in this game, and i'm hyped about it

After rewatching bits of the direct, I realized there is no fully fledged singleplayer campaign and now I'm even less interested. Urgh.
The attempt to recapture Splatoon's magic is mortifying to me, because I didn't really like Splatoon so that's not what I want new Nintendo IPs to try to emulate.

Not me! I'm not fine with Mario Kart having no campaign at all. It's a constant complaint I have with the franchise. I've resigned to myself that it won't happen instead of complaining about it every time a Mario Kart game comes out, but that doesn't stop it from bothering me.

I feel similarly to Smash 4 how removing SSE/Adventure made it the worst game in the series post N64 for me.

For the Mario Kart example, CTR has a great campaign.
For the fighting game style, so does Killer Instinct (even though it was patched later, but on the other hand it's free!!!)

So yeah, Arms does not get a pass from me.

Story mode? AKA Playing as an assortment of predetermined fighters against CPUs in-between some cutscenes. So basically a mini-movie that will go up on Youtube regardless.

Nope, the play itself still looks largely uninteresting to me (and the designs aren't far behind). But one may find me at the Test Punch.

I was on the fence before the direct, as fighting games in general don't interest me. But then they showed the volleyball mode, and the basketball mode. And the new fighters. And free DLC and Testpunch.

Yes, yes. I have great interest in it now.

I was mad skeptical before.

Now I'm very interested.

I won't be sold until I get to play the test fire, though the promise of support is....well, promising.

Went from thinking it looked kind of interesting maybe; to being certain it wasn't for me. I'm never going to have people to play it with so without fleshed out single player stuff I'm not interested anymore.
