Switch has no lanyard hole?! Solutions, suggestions anyone?

Unless I'm somehow missing it, there doesn't seem to be any way to attach a lanyard or strap to the switch itself to avoid drops in handheld mode.

With a device like this I'd really like to have the option to use a wrist strap while playing handheld.

Any suggestions or solutions anyone has found?

Joycon grips?

EDIT: I'm an idiot, they go on the wrong side, I'm at work, Switch is waiting at home :(

EDIT 2: I meant the ones included with the console.

Not sure this would work, but on I've stuck a pen loop on my iPad case to hold my Apple pen. I got my first in June and it's just come away.

Might be enough to stop catastrophic dropping failure? Just wondering how it would fit in the dock.

Reddit thread about how vinyl skins might damage the switch. Maybe a sticky belt loop won't work either.

The Switch comes with two joycon straps.

Please read before responding. Those joycon straps don't help in handheld mode.

Joycon grips?

Yeah, I'll be looking at some. Maybe there are ones that offer a strap attachment? But that would probably be too flimsy.

At the moment, I think Nintendo just dropped the ball on this little aspect. Should've had a lanyard hole on the tablet, like all the DS and 3DS models had.

And how, exactly? Drill a hole on the Switch?

"Make one" is not helpful.

I suppose use one of those metal rings like the ones on the back of smart phones.

But I think that would get in the way of the dock.

Lets say you're playing Zelda and some kid bumps into you and makes you drop it onto the concrete.

I mean, its not hard to think of why you would need a lanyard for a portable. Nintendo knows this which is why its been present in the DS and 3DS.

Its called being paranoid more than safety first...

Wait for the revision.

I am surprised this wasn't brought up a while ago. Seems like an obvious oversight. The DS Lite was so great with it. The PSP and Vita were the best for it personally.

With my iphone I had to buy a case that could have a lanyard attached. I am also a lanyard user. I don't have a lanyard on my right now 3DS surprisingly. I am not sure whether I will seek out a lanyard compatible case for my Switch.

money-making idea: sell an unintrusice case with an integrated strap loop

See I was thinking this, but how?

Would have to be for the tablet portion only and it couldn't impede the sides to allow for the sliding attachment of the joycons - all of this would look pretty weird (well, in the image in my head it does at least lol).

Also Sony puts lanyard holes on their portables. Sony brand smart phone have lanyard straps. Samsung phones used to have lanyard holes, but they stopped a few years ago. Most cameras still come with lanyard holes and often lanyards too.

GB are saying it has a nice grippy feel to the joycons, and the screen is plastic so it should handle a drop.

Otherwise maybe some kangaroo jeans to catch it?

I thought I was learning a new word, until I realized it's just a simple misspelling of "unintrusive." lol

Haha same

I havw two Sony phones with no straps? Unless I'm missing something very obvious

Yeah fair point I guess. I genuinely never think of people in the street playing this thing. For some reason it's more a home console in my head.

Although that's probably cause I never really played a handheld outside or on the go or anything.

People use that stuff? :O

I had no idea it even was on DS or 3DS. Haven't even connected the wristband on my Wiimotes.

Look at the lower corners of the unit. They're designed for lanyards.

Yes, but that comment doesn't question that, literally is saying he had no idea people still did that,

And frankly, me neither, but i guess there's people who needs it or genuenly uses them

Also, where could they have placed the damn lanyard hole?
