No, it does a temporary hold on your card to verify that it's valid. It drops after a couple of days.

Remember folks Best Buy does that oh so awful revolving hold. (unless they've since changed it)

And if you don't have funds ready when they want to place the hold again, bye bye order.

For this reason couldn't pay me to pre-order with best buy again. Though in this case its only 2 months so not too bad. But still, pain in the ass.
